Okay this video needs to be viral!!! So many of us with the 2is ML system have blown subs. Thanks for making this!!! Definitely gonna use it to change my sub in my 06 350😁👍🏼
Great production value. Great info on removing the seat and panels. From an installation standpoint, the only suggestion I have is that you should have painted or covered the box to make it look stock. Otherwise, great job! Oh yeah, I love Roberto's attitude.
I'm about to build a similar box in my '06. As a drummer, gotta have that tight bass. Thank God for good friends and men who've gone before. Thank you for this video!
Adjusting balance to the rear a few increments and turning off ASL does wonders to de-emphasize the front center channel and engage the subwoofer. Great advice.
@@CheaperEngineer Right?? Once your ears adapt after a few seconds it's a totally noticeable improvement. There's a guy on the clublexus forums who recommended pinpointing the "target" directly over your head via adjusting F/B & L/R. I tried it and wasn't crazy about it but it's possible this is the proper way to use it...
Looks good!! Great vid. I am going to save this for when I need to do the sub on my ISF. Straight criminal not painting that wood black to match more with the interior
The difference between mp3 cd or radio and a DVD 5.1 is like a different system you get full surround sound but i love the engine sound more cheers from OZ and CL, PS there not welds that's body sealant nice video. PPS where,s a video on how it sounds ??
See, I still haven't found a solid audio-only 5.1+ mix that I can appreciate, the majority of what I like that's multichannel comes in video format. I have the DVD bypass so I can run DVDs whilst driving, but I find it distracting. Steely, Rammstein, The Doors, etc. all have audio-only multichannel CDs but I always go back to stereo. The Who - Kids Are Alright 7.1 is phenomenal however, and worth displaying the video for. That's a really quality re-mix/master.
I built something very similar in my 06 is350 with the same subwoofer but it doesn’t sound nearly loud enough. I’m curious if you know what wattage your amp is in the video? I might have to find something higher wattage than my current one
I hear ya - I was kinda digging the wood grain at first. I'm going to try painting it Lexus USB & see how that looks. Match the calipers & badges. Thanks for the comments on the build, it was my first ever. Skar makes great stuff man, I'm very happy with this setup.
Great video man. Curious if you still feel positive about the sound. I noticed that the RMS of the Subwoofer is much higher than the wattage output of the ML amplifier; no issues so far?
@@davpart7723 You got it. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade that really maintains the harmony of the existing system. That was the most important thing to me - cohesive balance. The SKAR totally fit the bill.
I haven't done anything with it since the video, revisiting in the Spring. Going to paint the box USB on the front and possibly carpet to match the back.
Just a handful of screws directly through the ski door. Could've been done with a little more grace, but at 23:21 we were still a bit hungover & I think Roberto had had enough of the project.
@@chrisriley557 As long as your system is Levinson, the wiring should be identical (barring any color differences). Stock location is probably a very slim chance. I love your car, whatever you end up doing, let us know & would love a pic.
@@NoelVQ Not to me - it's all good. Of course, a more hardcore car audio guy might think otherwise. But personally, just for that kick drum bump, it's killer.
You would’ve been better off with JL audio since you said you want a good quality subwoofer Skar audio is trash might get loud but they sound like shit
