This is the new Lexus LC500 Convertible!
Now it’ll come as little surprise to any of you that the chance of spotting a giant convertible like the LC500 is very, very rare these days. They’re seemingly becoming less popular! So we wanted to take a look and find out whether those of you looking to invest in a more expensive car are missing out!
The LC500 certainly looks imposing on the road, and it’s fair to say it’s not just style over substance. Hiding under that huge bonnet you’ll find a 5-litre V8 that can pump out 464hp and 530Nm! What’s more, it’ll even catapult you to 60mph in just 5 seconds!
The question is, if you’re in the market for such a large convertible, does it offer enough to tempt you away from the likes of a BMW M850i Convertible? Or worse still, does it turn you off going for a soft-top entirely?! You’ll have to stick with Mat for his latest review to find out!

The dash dials move the same as they did on my F Sport IS 300H. My weekend toy is an Aston Martin V8 Vantage , to me one of the best looking cars ever made however, this Lexus is stunning.

I've had my 2018 LC 500 for just under four years. It is PURE JOY to own and drive. You see, I live in the real world and drive on real public roads. I'm not a race car driver wannabe nor do I think I'm one. My driving is from Point A. to Point B. and there isn't another car on the market that comes close to getting that task done with more style and reliability than the LC. It's virtually flawless in every way. You can drive it all day long and still feel refreshed at the end of an eight hour trip. It's not a supercar, its a SUPER CAR! Where most people go wrong is they assume they know everything about the car when they buy it. This is a very complex, high-tech, well-engineered and well thought out machine. You should read all the documentation and become familiar with it. Once you do that, run the SETUP in the infotainment system and set all your preferences. It takes some time and you have choices to make, which can be changed at any time. Then, LEARN THE VOICE COMMANDS and you almost never have to mess around with the track pad. Tell the car what you want and it does it. CLIMATE CONCIERGE will set the car to your desired liking but that can also be changed. These are fantastic machines and unlike those stupid, cheaply made, poorly designed European cars that cost an arm and leg to repair, the Lexus is so well made it is unlikely to need repair for a very long time. The sensors, relays and electrical components aren't junk like the European cars. Everything about the Lexus is pure quality. And, you just never get tired of looking at it.

The LFA was actually not that expensive starting at 300k only 500 were made and now they start to sell just under a Million€ and everyone who reviewed one says that the experience and sound are just one in a kind

Which makes one wonder if there shouldn't be a more sustainable alternative for that. I'm not some nature nut and f.e. eat meat and my motorcycle suit is leather as well. But surely, using animal skins for seats should at some point be outdated and replaced for some synthetic alternative?

@@djoetma Synthetic alternative's are still seen as the cheaper materials, look at brands like Rollce Royce, Bentley and Maybach. They all use alot of leather and they are pretty much the benchmark of luxury vehicles, as long as those brands keep using leather most other brands will also keep using leather.

@@djoetma leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. Avoiding leather doesn’t save any cows. There’s more leather supply then demand. Most of the cost of leather is in the tanning and stitching etc.

@@hoen2009 I know Audi has 100% vegan models. But you are probably right in that it won't sell. In my opinion however, the industry should take a leading role here and invest in proper alternatives. I have a massage chair that as fake leather, and that feels better than the real leather seats I have in my car. So with some innovation, surely they could come up with something over time?

that big metal Volume Adjuster, the awesome Gage Cluster and the metal Drive Mode selector just shows how the designers of this car understand how important the Feel of a car it is, they could have just handled it like other cars but they made it so much better.

When I last took my IS for a service at Lexus they had one in the showroom, utterly stunning thing. Oh and the noise they makes when you bang them off the rev limiter is amazing, sounds like a machine gun.

It's heartbreaking and disappointing at the same time when it comes to Lexus/Toyota, because almost everyone knows that their quality for most Parts is second to none and the fact that someone in corporate hasn't figured out how to make a Direct BMW M, Mercedes-Benz AMG or an Audi s Challenger is beyond me! Could you guys imagine if Lexus / Toyota have done to the Auto industry what Kia has done with their quality thrown in as well? Visually this car is more beautiful than any BMW, any Mercedes-Benz and any Audi, but nobody knows about it hardly? Sad!

I’m currently working on one of these and that old school touch pad and those weird knobs on top of the dash were the first thing that caught my eye. Overall it’s a great car! Definitely stands out!

@@dragospahontu My point exactly, the Cayman is a thoroughbred sports car focused solely on the fun of driving and driver engagement. A manual, mid-engine, lightweight, small wheelbase; These are all part of the recipe to an engaging sports car. The Lexus on the other hand, is focused on covering large distances fast and in comfort, the LC is not designed to compete with the cayman, not even the 911, its closer to the likes of the Panamera since its a fast GT car. P.S. The LC500 is definitely more practical than the Cayman 😂

@@Ssh52 let me tell you the Cayman has more storage space. And it is just as comfortable if not it's even softer with the adaptive dampers. You can't make a front engined car ride like a mid or rear engined car because of the wheel geometry.

Saw the Coupe version outside my apartment today in Shanghai. Love every detail of this car. There are only a few cars out there that makes my jaw drop and this LC500 is one of them. I was also at the right time when the owner (a lady) turned on the car and was patiently waiting for the V8 sound. Sadly it's the LC500h. Just silent till it moved. But yeah one stunning car. Very rare to see one.

Love the LC. The NA V8 alone and its amazing sounds gets my money. Then there is its amazing reliability not found in the Germans. Is there a way to get HD cameras for the driving part? Looks 360p and can't see Matt's expressions

I suggest the rear seat be rationalised as a place for extra luggage storage when the boot is full. The car is a 2-seater and I love it!

13:18 I remember a friend brought the first 2 Peugeots 308 CC to Bulgaria, still on French dealer plates, in the summer of 2010-11 (think it was Phase II), and they had this neck vent feature (it seemed pretty cool at the time), and I think they both were pearl white with red interior, a modern looking for the time LED taillights, the high level spec for this segment (equal to an Astra cabriole segment) seemed pretty well designed for 10+ years ago.

I don't really do convertibles but that's my lottery choice right there in that really funky green they do it in and beautiful beige interior Lexus have shown the other guys how to do an interior and exterior with a glorious soundtrack....beeeuutifull, I actually saw one next to an Aston Martin and I never thought I would prefer another car but this did it for me🥰

Full marks for the presentation style. The car is gorgeous anyway - still wondering if I should replace my s-class coupe with this. And btw - red interior goes very well with the white exterior. It’s also less depressing..
