I’m a die hard Mercedes guy , great luck and many miles with older ones. But, my 1996 LS 400 was all round the best car I ever had. Did everything an S class did and was easy to service like a Camry. No special fluids , appointments , just oil changes and basics. Amazing build quality. It had its own distinctive leather smell.

I fancy Mercedes-Benz cars as well, the older models especially, but I can't argue about the bulletproof quality of Toyota, it is what it is😄

Toyota Received Millions of loyal new Customers not only due to their Reliability but also due to GM's Philiosophy of Planned Odsolescence !

Good point! Wasn't it invented back in 1920's? Pretty sure the whole "Dynamic/Planned obsolescence" thing was simply revolving around "staying fashionable", but thanks to that philosophy, we're not driving the same cars for decades on end!

6:49 Small Correction. I’m pretty sure it was just called the Celsior. Great video though. Remember me when you’re famous!

I stand corrected, it was indeed named "Celsior", but either way, I'm glad to hear you like the video, Surely will!

Quality video, I'll need to get myself a clean LS400 one day. Most where I live are neglected unfortunately, but even despite owner abuse they still run and drive, goes to show how over-engineered they were.

Much appreciated! Yeah, you should definitely go grab one while they're still reasonably priced, doesn't seem like the current car industry is going to create anything even nearly as reliable as the old LS 😄

I am German .. an as much as i Love the BMWs and Mercedes from that time … I really like this Lexus ! It doesn’t need to hide ! I would say it has a clean look to it similar to the Audis from that time ! I currently drive an Volvo V70 from 1997 and man interior design and quality really peaked at the 90s ! Wood , leather even the plastic feels better ….

Ah yes, can't go wrong with the Swedish "bricks", in my opinion, these cars are like the hidden gems, they're secretly awesome, even though they may look rather boring from the outside, and if you get your hands on the V70 R... It's a whole another experience😄

@@RedLine_Car_Show my First car was a Audi A4 from 2001 ... i kinda want a Audi from that time again ... maeby a A6 from the late 90s or the A6 from the mid 2000s ... or This Lexus !
@Harrock

@@RedLine_Car_Show Mercedes from that time are just to expensive... the First Generation CLS is a Design Icon! But in terms of interior , The W140 and the W220 are my choice! Also the E class from that time... but to expensive. So i keep my Volvo . A 960 would be nice tho ... or an A8 ! But could be to expensive as well

@@Harrock Dunno about that, I'd go for a E-class W210 with an OM606 or an OM613, they're still kinda fun, sure, not as fun as the V8 ones, but at least in this case, having fun won't burn a hole in your wallet😁

The Japanese highlighted the arrogance of German and American luxury car makers...and the Lexus V8 is pretty much bulletproof.

the LS 400 was the first Toyota Vehicle to have a v8 engine because that was what most Americans were used to though some Luxury cars had started Offering V6s in the late 1970s or 1980 I.E. Buick Century & Regal etc. though in your full size American Cars most buyers still chose a 350 CID V8 or larger for ex the standard engine in a Cadillac Deville 368 CID or 6 L V8 at that time or the Standard in an Eldorado was a 425 Cubic in or 6.93 L V8

It shook them so hard, that in Europe Lexus is a dead brand, whilst Audi, BMW and Mercedes rake in more money than ever. Lexus tried and failed :)
@RedLine_Car_Show
@RedLine_Car_Show 5 месяцев назад
Europe was never the main target for Lexus, remember, they primarily aimed for the American market, and so did Acura, Infiniti, and other premium brands alike! 🤔

On one hand, they did develop their own design language by now, on the other, I sort of agree with you, it looks rather "too much" for a Japanese luxury car, especially that gigantic hourglass-shaped grille, it's just hard to like this design for me...🧐
