This is how I changed the engine mount on 2005 LS430. I wish, the whole thing could have been a video, but working alone and underneath the car did not have so much option to capture everything. So, i just grabbed few images and compiled it as such.

On second thought, considering the engine block twists all the time (say between forward and reverse gear), rather than lifting the engine hard, giving it a tiny room and twisting it left/right with the engine leveller might be the million dollar key to easy removal/installation. If the Engine Crane is putting you off, don't be. I also hired it, just look out for Engine Crane rentals in the hood.

alright everyone! i just did it and it’s actually surprisingly easy, instead of pulling from both mounts i did one side at a time and had no issue getting everything back in. just beware of the drivers side, the steering column makes it real hard to get the side back it, good luck!!

Well, from my experience of engine mount, it would be easier to do one side at a time, don’t undo both side and lift the entire engine up

Would you know if this process is similar to the sc430? Same engine but of course a different car.

I am not sure about SC430. One good look at the mount brackets should give a fair idea. I assume the nuts at the bottom through the subframe should be similar. The engine being similar also implies similar lifting methods. My concern being, SC430 might have tighter space.

Can motor mounts affect my knock sensor? I notice a jolt sometimes when shifting to drive

My guess is, they are not related.

Yes. I felt. Some acceleration on low speed effect and pop up knock sensor code.

What symptoms did you have on your car ? That you knew your mounts were bad

If you want to check to see if your mounts are bad grab a friend. Pop the hood and have them stand out front of the car, Start the car, and put it in drive. Keeping the brake pedal pushed down give it some gas. If your friend sees the engine lifting upward really at all then the mounts are worn and need to be replaced. You may feel a clunk if you hit the gas hard and let off, you may also feel hard vibrations in the pedal at idle.

Dear Sonachand, thank you for the such informative video! What is a mileage on your car ? I have left hand european LS 430 2005 and 226 000 Km and really thinking about engine mount replacement.... Also i noticed from here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QAVWomjZb5E.html on 7:15 that our japan colleage together with engine mount has changed and transmission mount 12371-50170 for better a smoother cruising on his Celsior (LS 430 in Japan). The transmission mount replacement was extremely easy against engine mount...

Thanks for the kind words. Mine is 2005 with 310,000+ Km. Yes, I have changed the trans mount too. It was easy as you pointed out and there are videos on it. I couldn't find any videos on engine mount itself and from reading through the CL forums, it kind of sound dreaded, so, i decided to make this video.

@@AlienAntPark Thank you for the video. What were the symptoms that triggered a replacement? i have a loose clunk (sounds like bad strut mount, but isn't) over bumps on the left side.

@@Abesta83 Honestly, car was new to me and butter smooth. It was a mechanic who pointed out broken mount. From my experience, I experienced a loud clunk on a pothole just one time. There are some videos to check the mounts by revving up in D and R while firmly braked.
