Really, really good job! Thank you! My 2001 Lexus failed its first time ever, with 110k miles, and also at the worst time ever. Our daughter was about to evacuate my 93 year old mom from the advancing Santa Rosa fires. She used our other car instead. After whap'ing a shoe on the gas tank two weeks later, it started right up. Today, after watching this video three times in a row, I went out and repeated all your steps and the job went perfectly! Started right up and runs just fine. Just an additional note--I took the top part of the old fuel pump off (cast aluminum piece). It was obvious that the motor shaft is turning a small piece with many square cutouts that send the gasoline through an ever-shrinking channel and then pressurized up to the engine. I think that the shoe whap'ing on the tank sends a gasoline pressure wave that advances the small wheel enough to move the relationship between stationary motor brushes and commutators, giving the opportunity for the fuel pump's motor to work again. In addition to the Denso Pump (excellent recommendation), I bought an OEM filter assy, which is the full plastic center part. Easy to integrate into the mess again.

Funny thing, Ill admit that I laughed at all the times the tabs clicked back in as you were taking off the various pieces, but I ran into the same exact issue. Karma is a dirty mistress. Great video again. I love the way the Japanese do things. User friendly for the most part. That housing looked a bit brittle and i was waiting on it to break but it didn't. Good patience on your part.

Thanks man! I would like to change the filter in my 02 since it's never been done and I'm at 220k and smooth. I'd like to see what changing it will do. Too bad you didn't do that when you had it opened up, but you fixed your issue so that's good.

Thanks so much for this video- I am confused why I didn’t change the filter tho. That’s most likely why your pump died. Than I would of seen how to do mine too. Looks like I’ll have to remove something else. I’m very worried about breaking the plastic ! Eek

*I would recommend to all others that have same fuel pump assembly, REPLACE IT ALL! The fuel pump and regulator are the most expensive parts. The rest is plastic and cheap.*

Hey, did you ever end up upgrading the fuel pump after this when you installed the TOM'S supercharger? Planning on running a supercharger but have seen some other LS430/GS430 owners run other fuel pumps Thanks

Might be asking for to much but think you could make a video on replacing the Secondary fuel level sensor. The one located on the other side. Really just need to know what parts they are tbh.

Has anyone seen this done on the reclining seat version? Is it different?

I had to pull this out of the fuel tank to clean the fuel sensor ( which actually now works!! ). I live in Australia and just bought a 2005 ls430, unfortunately the previous owners were not very honest with regarding a few things including the fuel gauge.... Anyhoo, when I took the back seat out, there is a steel frame with mechanical parts directly under the seat, bolted to the seat frame thingy. Took me 2.5 hours to do the job. But none of the videos I have watched have this steel frame under the seat??

Should have replaced that center section which is your fuel filter while you were in there

Hello, I have a feeling i’m having a problem with my LS430 too. Sometimes when i have to accelerate i smell a rotten egg smell coming from the car. Could it also be the fuel pump? I’m just looking for help to narrow down to the culprit. Thank you in advance
