Vacuum naturally jumps around in a naturally aspirated engine, so I believe brake boosters must have a check valve to retain vacuum even when the car loses vacuum during acceleration. So as you say it's a weird presentation.

You'd have loved being a mechanic in the 80's. Working on the cars from the 70's and 80's was easy. Tons of room and simple systems. Every nut and bolt was accessible without having to remove a hundred other things. Not much needed for specialty tools, not even much for Euro stuff. I need a time machine. I loved my RX300 but hated working on it

This is how it OFTEN is for us amateurs. Guess and try something.

@@themechanic6117 People often think it is simple and direct. My own car just sent a P0440, P0441 and P0446. EVAP. Canister. Mumbo jumbo. Just bought it from a goofy guy who mentioned he put a used gas cap on it. Ya. It was bad and that's all it was.

Why didn’t you cut the old power steering line? Would’ve made it easier to remove.

Because cutting a part off doesn't help me to understand how the new one goes in. If I know I can remove the old one without breaking it then I can install the new one without breaking it. If you break the old part to get it out how will you get the new one in?? Hope that makes sense
