Thank you for this video. My sc430 2002 back dash board gets frozen and doesn’t move.rest of the roof moves as it should. So I follow procedure in the car operating manual. Open the roof till it’s horizontle. Then back dash is suppose to move up,it doesn’t ,so I manually with one hand( to avoid lots of pressure) lift up the black dash board and then push it down again. Then close the roof from semi open position. Then open the roof with the switch. This unfreezes motor for dashboard and now it starts working as it’s suppose to. Usually I have to do it couple of times a year at most. Of course , long term proper solution is to service the motor as shown here.
I"m planning on buying an SC430 soon. I hope I don't have to worry about this for a while yet, but I'm glad this video is here in case I run into problems.
Lexus wanted to charge me the same to repair my SC430. I now have a SC430 coupe with 225K miles on it! It is not my main vehicle anymore but it still runs. Just wish the top would go down.
Great video but i sure wish you would have put on the video how you got to the package tray and how.to.remove it. Itook out the head resr and the.back seat couldn't get to the motor from there
Okay… haven’t experienced any issues until I reassembled a/c controller for GTA kit (apple CarPlay). Top went down but won’t go back up. The top switch just flashes red. Any thoughts?
Hello . . . might I ask if your OPEN/CLOSE switch was lighting up when depressing the button? Mine has zero light and there is zero sound - as if the switch it's self is dead. Lexus ran diagnostics and are telling me 2 assembly's are failing & need replacement . . . the RH roof lock switch assembly & the RH luggage lock actuator assembly. This just doesn't make any sense to me that TWO assembly's would go bad at the same time?!?!? Plus at a repair cost of around $10K - it's a very hard pill to swallow. 65k miles, top rarely used. Makes no sense. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Hey what's going on I'm having problem with my 02 convertible top SC430. Press the button to retract the convertible top. The trunk open up the rear windows drop the convertible top open about inch and a half and stop. feel like something is holding it back. Then I press the close part of the button the trunk come down and locks the windows come up and a convertible top locks back into place. Repeat the process it only opens an inch and a half and got stuck. Can you help me I really appreciate if you can.
Hi, great video! Hey, was the red light on your switch on all the time? Mine tried to roll down the doors windows but they got stuck in the middle of the way. After that, the red light didn't turn off again. I rolled up the windows but the back ones stayed down. Thankfully I reset them and got them up again using the glove box and open/close combination. Then I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes and when connected again, the red light was gone. Tried to open the top again, door window went halfway again and red light on. Could it be the same motor issue?
