Best cars money can buy. Insane level of quality and reliability. Lexus and Toyota are in a complete different level than any other car manufacturer, even if some people dislike their design. The only luxury brand I will ever buy.

many people lease their cars, also a lot of these car are bought for 4-7 years so reliability doesn't matter for 95% of people that buy NEW cars. Other than reliability Lexus is average

My daughter bought the base UX200. The acceleration is a bit mild, but the MPGs have been excellent (32 combined). The thing that surprised me most was the EXCELLENT HANDLING and very good stopping. It is smooth, quiet and dependable. We have 2 older Lexi, one with 200+k and the other 300k+. So we expect comparable trouble-free longevity on this one. Good review! Danke Schoen.

Thomas, I didn't watch many Autogfühl videos lately because there was no car that really interested me, but watching this video almost made me rediscover why I like your reviews so much: you talk and cover all aspects of the vehicle and you take the time to explore everything and give us your honest point of view. And about this very vehicle, it is maybe a love or hate about the exterior, but I must say I like it a lot! Even the paint colour is very premium. As for the interior, it breathes built quality and your images show that; it is impressive! Thanks for sharing your impressions and kudos to Lexus for this excellent vehicle.

Same here, for over 4 months I was unimpressed by the channel's test cars. The moment I saw the UX's pic i clicked. Pretty interesting car, different from the competition in many ways. Love its niche character

Anyone considering this, I'd advise test drive and sit inside a lot . It's seriously small and not made for everyone. I thought NX was cramped but this made me think twice

We love our 2020 UX200. Nothing has failed in 60,000mi100,000km! It should serve us to at least 250,000km. This is NOT designed to be a "family hauler". This is perfect for a single, or dual family unit. We love the eclectic lines and curves displayed by the exterior body. Handling in our mountains is quite good, not Porsche-like, but quite nimble for a CUV. Gas mileage is 31mpg combined from Day 1. It took me about 20 minutes to master the media controls, but lm not challenged that way.

Thomas, like with many new Lexus models, the gauge cluster layout with the 2 stalks sticking out is paying homage to the Lexus LFA supercar! Maybe not the most useful spot but I think it is the coolest look out there.

Thank you very much! Liked, subscribed and shared. My absolute favorite RU-vid channel by far. Still trying to understand why the hot keys for the speaker volume and the sport mode keys seemed so odd. Minute’s previously you complained about accessing controls thru a touch sensor.

After viewing the entire review and Thomas’s driving experience I definitely am determined to buy it instead of the IS300h. I would have liked Thomas to use the cruise control on highways and on the 50Km/h-limited-speed streets. Overall his driving experience was more convincing. The price might be a bit higher but you such a refinement inside and driving that I would hardly find driving BMW, Volvo or Mercedes.

I bought the 250h version a month ago, the infotainment system is not the best, I use Android car exclusively, the cabin is very well insulated, no wind noise or tire noise (no runflat tires). The consumption is phenomenal, the car is perfect for urban environment with very good steering, the only downside is the ecvt which create noise when you floor it. I wouldn't recommend the 250h for anyone with more than one child, and the trunk is really cramped in that version

Distinctive. No hydraulic strut! In the UK configurator, only the Hybrid seems available? Great detail, and driving part as always, Thomas. At 21:50 'kickdown' needed to get past that car pulling out - "Live on tape!" At 37:01 that Smart took off smartly. Thomas seemed to appreciate the refined drive of the UX, and lucky the test car was light coloured inside, but the interior looked cramped! Many thanks indeed for your professional and entertaining review.

Not a fan of the matte black wheel archs. If I got this, the first thing I'm doing is body matching the fenders. I don't understand the reasoning behind making crossovers look cheaper by slapping matte black onto unnecessary places. Lexus isn't the only one to do this.

TubesWidener Then why this brand in 2d place in terms of sales even in Japan? It’s easy to be reliable when you don’t change major components for 20 years, produce the slowest cars in their segments, and don’t offer options like DCTs or freedom of choice that other competitors have.

plain and simple. No lexus will out run even measily base m3(similar price point). No german car will cost less to keep after warranty then lexus. Take your pick. Personally I get bored after 1-2yrs of new car anyway. So my perception of value lies in the performance land.

Tom, ask yourself: why Mercedes is number one in terms of luxury car sales in Japan if it’s so “unreliable”? Japanese aren’t stupid, they wouldn’t buy Mercedes vehicles if they were unreliable. It's as simple as that. “Best economy” Just look at their official fuel economy numbers. Not to mention, they produce the heaviest vehicles in their segments and dinosaur turds like LX.

@@dwergmaster yes I totally agree. Once upon a time german cars were very reliable but now it is not. It is very high technology and the leaders no doubt but only made to be replaced after 5 years atmost. Re-selling value is very bad because buyers know they can get bankrupt to maintain it running. This is exactly the difference. And imho no one can argue in that.

I admit, i don't like the way you push it about leather seat in your videos... But I just bought an UX250h with the Fsport package who include Alcantara and fake Leather. After trying real animal leather and synthetic one on this model, I must admit the synthetic last way longer. And feel better overall. So I must admit, pushing fake leather over animal one is quite a good idea. So I took less options, in order to get the synthetic leather. You got me there, Thomas ! 😅

Hi Thomas, thanks for the review! You critique the design lines here, which I personally also do not like that much. What I do not understand is that you seem to be a lot more positive around the recent BMW designs, which are even busier than this Lexus.

I beg to differ on the sport mode switch. It’s placement is actually very practical. On every other car you need to take your eyes off the road and look/feel around the dash for the button. The sport binnacle is in your line of sight. Really surprised that you couldn’t understand this.

This class of car is my ‘type’. Love the quality and reliability of Lexus, but the trunk (especially on the hybrid) is a let down. But the deal breaker for me is no Apple CarPlay. It wouldn’t be too bad if the Lexus infotainment system was top notch, but it’s not.

I have just purchased a UX hybrid, picking it up later today, can’t wait! Unfortunately I didn’t get the leather interior, I think mine is suede. It’s easily the best car I’ve ever driven but not sure about that trackpad for infotainment system, I think that will be annoying to operated while driving. First time back with a petrol engine in 20 + years so fearful I’m going to finish up putting diesel in it at some point!

Hi Thomas, I bought a lexus IS 300h from 2019 and I found that the car vibrates badly when driving between 70km/h and 100km/h especially in a hill way. I tested other cars at the dealer shop and I found the same issue with them. I ve found also the issue with an UX250h. I am so surprised that no journalist has ever mentioned this issue. Lexus says it is a character of the car. I am shocked about it, first the cars are very expensive and they vibrates like no other cars even the most budget ones. But honestly I am so disappointed about the journalists who are ignorant about this issue. Hopefully I will hear your findings about this issue. Thanks

Awesome review, as always, but car is crap. Compared to older cars it has bigger central console (less room for legs), smaller windows (worse view), bigger wheels (expensive to maintain). Why??? Why are manufacturers making more of this uncomfortable crap and why are people buying it? What happened to caring about comfort and visibility?

Nice review but thomas, you completely missed the point on this direct shift cvt. It does shift up and does not hold on to revs like the hybrids. Look back and listen to the revs go upward and then down as u accelerate on the highway.

You actually see it in the rev counter which steps down while you are increasing speed. The cvt makes a shift there from around 7000rpm back to around 5000 rpm and then back upward again until u reach 100 km/h.

Not dsg but certainly not standart cvt either. I drove this powertrain in a Rav4 and was amazed I saw the cvt making shifts as if it were a normal automatic. This cvt is different from the unit in the hybrid system. I had to find this out from toyota press room pdf on the 2.0l. I like this combo because i’m old gashioned guy who likes revs instead of torque. Atmosferic bmw, alfas and vtec. Where else are we going to get NA motors? Anyways keep up your reviews!

Toyota used to be at the leading edge on engine technology having twin cam engines and vvti 20 valve 4 cylinder engines in the 90s already. My gosh what happened to them? Their engines are unacceptable in this day and age. A V6 diesel E Class will consume less than this vehicle. A diesel and even small turbo petrol from a European manufacturer will use even less fuel and perform a million times better in the process. There is absolutely no excuse for Toyota/Lexus to put such engine in what is supposed to be a premium product. That is why I can never see Lexus competing with any European brand. It is only competitive with the other Japanese "luxury" brands like Infiniti and Acura and American brands like Lincoln or Cadillac.

Thomas was very funny on this one! I think the car is alright. The design might be controversial, but it's nice to be a little funky in a SUV saturated market. But seriously, Lexus needs to focus some of the energy of exterior design to better infotainment software and interface.

Huge mistake of Lexus to provide a press car with the crappy base engine no one cares about instead of the much better hybrid. Why??? You don't ever see germans provide a base engine test car, there are literally no videos on base model german cars anywhere to be found.

So basically this car is great except that it's gutless, has lackluster fuel economy, is crampt inside, doesn't have Apple Carplay or Android Auto, isn't very high off the ground, is hella expensive, and has polarizing styling at best.

Was für ein Zufall! Ich habe genau dieses Auto Freitag bei Europcar gemietet und bin mit meiner Family nach Belgien in den Zoo damit gefahren. Bequemes Auto. Ich selbst fahre einen 2017 Mercedes C Coupé. Was ich an dem Lexus bemängele ist das absolut schrecklich zu bedienende und zu verstehende Navi, die schlechte Qualität der Rückfahrkamera sowie die recht mickrigen 200newton Drehmoment. Auch senkt sich der rechte Außenspiegel nicht ab, sobald man in den Rückwärtsgang einlegt. Kein Ambient-Beleuchtung (zumindest bei meinem Leihwagen). Ich mag aber das Lenkrad.

Lexus is just not competitive enough to compete with Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW. Their cars are mediocre especially when it comes to technology and drivetrains. I have driven in some of their newer cars like the IS and this UX and they honestly can not compete. They always feel several years behind the German competition. They don't seem to design the vehicle for the time it is going to be launched but rather design it for the time when the decision was made to go ahead and design and test the car.

I like the Lexus design on most of their vehicles, but this is just over designed. Plus, this car is so cheap, it doesn't even fit the Lexus nameplate. They tried by making it look like a Lexus, but that's it.

It's an entry into the brand. Many manufacturers do this, audi a3, Benz A/B/CLA class,etc. If you had a UX, wouldn't you want to upgrade next time to an RX?
