Beautiful sounding bus! A couple of the gearchanges were nearly straight through as well, nice!!

It cannot be denied that the Leyland Atlantean was an 'old woman's bus' even when first introduced in the late 1950s, but I have to agree that it was much better than some of the rubbish we have today.

Takes me back to when Atlanteans ruled the Busways fleet up here in Newcastle. Happy days.

I grew up in Blackburn and Blackburn Transport had dozens in my schooldays of the 1980’s. My only regret was never buying one when they were being replaced. No. 110 PCW110P was my all time favourite. I used to have many a hellfire journey to school and back on these beauties. This video captures the glorious sound of the Atlanteans beautifully. Thank you 😊

The Enviros in the toon at the mo have a wee bit of character: like the Novocastrian Atlanteans they are 10m long handsome sprightly beasts but sound like subdued Bristol VRTs. But they do no not roar, are not yellow and their staircases are the right way round. Shame..

Gary this is not an Edinburgh Atlantean, all of the ECT/LRT examples were Alexander A/AL panoramics. This one is ex-Plymouth.

I cannot beleave you can still get a Leyland Athlantean in service in 2010. They are as rare as hens teeth! Great video..

I too miss the Newcastle busways Atlanteans, lovely old reliable buses with character, I was dismayed in 1996 when they were all retired. Nearly all the modern ones are not a patch on these. Bristols are nice too (VR's and RE's).
