Lovely old gruff engine note. This naturally aspirated 6 cyl diesel is a roaring lion compared with the Adblue running turbocharged intercooled common rail diesel engines that purr like cats while running. Also, it doesn't seem to have a synchromesh transmission, hence the driver seems to be double clutching on every gear change!
Really nice engine, I've always taken note of the sounds of cars, buses and lorries as a kid as if it were an integral part of their look and character. The sound fitted their look. They were more distinctive in years past. My favourite is the Routemaster AEC or Leyland engines.
