Nice straight-through changes whilst setting off at 1:30. Can't put into words how miffed I am that I never got the chance to drive semi-autos in service.
KevR32 they're quite slow and ate not as forgiving as a regular manual if you do a misstep. Loss of road speed waiting for the revs to die down before the gear change is another draw back. They're alright but a full auto works best.
+BusThrash TPE159S (not THE159S as incorrectly noted below) was one of a small batch fitted with Gardner engines by Alder Valley. This was fleet no. 283 and based at Woking for a while in the 1980s, I went to school on it - a bit of variety as the rest of Woking's allocation was Leyland 510 powered.
@@LeylandFiveTen loved the sound of the ones fitted with the gardner engine, a very throaty sound, made them stand out from the others, could be rather loud as well but they had some power
Midland Reds later colours were always eye catching. Arriva always seem to run their buses into the ground and poor maintenence offered. Example are some of Derby's buses.
Why do so many have BMAC taillights. They don't suit it. Every Venezuelan National I have seen has it's originals. The originals are a masterpiece in looks as seen in the Arriva unit.
