Well said Geoff- Your comment just took the edge off a big loss I had on the stock market a couple years ago. Thank goodness I didn't have to pitch in for this blatant dishonesty.
Their modelling would be worthless anyway. How could anyone trust a feminist to research anything? I wouldn't trust a feminist to research their way to the kitchen - let alone lifestyle choices of the nation. "Feminist research" and peer review has been exposed for the joke it is.
It is like he has to educate her how she prove what she claims. I would have thought that she should come prepared with a good argument seeing as how politicians time is an expensive commodity. What a waste of space. It's like she did not expect to be questioned after all the whole world knows there is a pay gap, nothing more to talk about really just give her what she wants, no need top discuss.
@@IMilo82 - Because she is using modelling is an excuse. In order to do an effective analysis and arrive at a reasonable hypothesis for corrective action, you pretty much have to understand what the key variables are in the process and how they affect your metrics. Modelling only serves to calibrate the process and determine the extent of the variance in the metrics, based on how much you change the key variables, and any interaction between the key variables. But any decent analysis should include a list of key variables and whether they positively or negatively affect the metrics, and probably a good idea of the extent, so that you can make a decision on corrective action. Modelling is usually only done to optimize corrective action, or if there is a complex interaction between the key variables, that might be non-intuitive.
If the gender pay gap actually exists then I should be employing more women as they would be cheaper than men for the same job. Truth is that I have never seen any evidence to suggest that women are discriminated against or disadvantaged when it comes to employee wages/salary.
@@seanleith5312 "count Nobel prize winners)" -- that's actually a stupid argument -- women have been totally screwed over in the scientific community for being women news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/13/130519-women-scientists-overlooked-dna-history-science/ there is NO gender pay gap, but bringing up Nobel prizes where there is OBVIOUS discrimination is just stupid
I don't know if you guys got this in Australia, but a few years ago Kristin Bell was in some spoof commercial saying "Employers, hire women! They'll work for 15% less!" as if to illustrate how unfair things were, and tons of people just came back like "But if that were true, why aren't employers doing this?"
“We want to put more women in higher paying roles to close the pay gap!” “What if we put more men in lower paying jobs? Won’t that close the pay gap?” “uh err umm uh we haven’t done the modeling! We don’t have the resources!” BOSS
We don't just put men or women at where they are. They have to work their way to where they want to be. No company will give you a certain position on a silver platter. You got to prove your worth & fight your way there.
@Edward Gross instead of admitting they're wrong it's much easier to pussyfoot and hem and haw about 'models' and 'we don't have the data's (they do, the ABS collects this shit and they could easily access it). That way their paychecks keep coming and they don't have to admit they've been living a lie.
Imagine a company hiring a manager who isn't educated in their field and doesn't have ambition for that position. Now that would be amazing human resource management. Take an unathletic person and hire him/her to participate in a competitive sport. Doesn't make any sense, now does it? 😄
And yet over the past 40 years successive governments have managed to close off nearly every avenue for a citizen to pursue recourse against the bureaucracy which has, in essence, become an aristocracy. Who else gets such high superannuation contributions? Who else has such an onerous dismissal path that dismissal is rarely enacted? Who else can be so unproductive but remain employed? Who else can make arbitrary decisions which will ruin businesses, destroy lives and cost billions, but face no consequence?
This misses the point. Why does the gender pay gap need to be eliminated? It is simply the average of all full-time working men vs the average of all full time working women. It is a meaningless statistic that tells you nothing about whether one gender or the other is being discriminated against.
Yes. It's a gender earnings gap. What should be looked into is the gender tax gap. Men are paying taxes, women are taking benefits. Its a one way flow of money. This should be addressed. Funny how equality rushes out the door as soon as I mention this.
@ Research from Victoria University of Wellington examining taxation and government welfare spending by age and gender in New Zealand shows that women pay less tax than men over their lifetime and receive more government assistance. 200% more. Search for research paper ‘Income and Fiscal Incidence by Age and Gender: Some Evidence from New Zealand’ which has been accepted for publication by international economics journal, Review of Income and Wealth. Researchers: Professor Norman Gemmell, Victoria’s Chair in Public Finance, Honours student Athene Laws and Omar Aziz, from New Zealand Treasury and Harvard University. Figure 5 illustrates how large the gender tax gap is, as the male share of the tax burden is immensely larger than the female tax burden. Figure 16 illustrates how women receive more government benefits than they pay into the system during the course of their lives in all but a short window from roughly age 40 to age 60. Even then, women receive far more government benefits than men. Figure 17 is the most damning, as it shows the cumulative fiscal impact per capita per sex. Women are a net drain on government resources (and therefore male taxpayers) from birth to death. Women end up with an average $150,000 lifetime deficit between what they pay into the system vs. what they take out of it! Importantly, men would wind up a net surplus at the end of our lives if Socialist governments didn’t force us to support women with our tax dollars! So, it can be said Western governments are broke because of women, and Western governments are wealth redistribution agents that rob overproductive men to pay underproductive women. It can also be said that if men didn’t have the burden of women and weren’t forced to carry both their weight and our own, we could work a lot less and enjoy life a lot more.
Funny how we NEVER hear about 50/50 discriminating quotas for:- * Garbo * Sewage workers * Mowing lawns * Landscaping * Plumbers * Electricians * Snake catchers * Night Petrol station attendant * Construction * Mining * road crews * IT/PC repair * Power pole repair #equality
They were too busy congratulating themselves for working so hard, there was no time to do actual work. This woman demonstrates very clearly that if there isnt a gender pay gap there probably should be.
If they actually represented the statistics they would find that the pay gap is really in the home, somewhere they can't go and change so instead they stick companies with unrealistic expectations of "sorting this whole gender thing out". Brilliant! Because it is a problem that can't be solved. They will be employed for years to come. Well only if they can get rid of that pesky senator!
3:02 I love this guy. I work in a preschool in Japan, I'm the only male teacher in my school, and the pay scale is very straightforward based on responsibilities of teachers. My female manager has promoted me above my female teachers because I take on more responsibility, I arrive at work earlier, and work later. Yes, I get paid more...for a reason, and I don't think it's because my female manager is being sexist.
How's it like in Japan? I'm confident that most modern, westernised civilisations have 0 or at least very minimal unfair pay differences which is why it infuriates me that this video showcases such an ill-prepared group of women fighting for something they have no evidence of whatsoever but I'm aware that there are still some sexist practices in Japan(women pouring tea for clients etc)
That would never happen in Australia. Any men working extra hours would be told they can’t, or if it was allowed there would be no extra pay and no recognition. They would then see their female colleagues who don’t do anything extra getting promoted. I have seen HR twist the facts to make hard work as a negative - except when a woman does it
I cannot believe this issue is still being discussed at such a high-level. Anyone with a basic understanding of statistics knows the gender 'pay gap' is ideologically motivated propaganda. There is simply no evidence that the difference in earnings found in statistical analysis is the result of discrimination, moreover it has been clear for DECADES that on average, women and men make different choices in their career pursuits, not to mention it has been ILLEGAL since the early 70s to discriminate in such a way. I am genuinely saddened by the lack of intellectual rigor on display here, and ironically it demonstrates that these women are more interested in feeling like members of a victim class then they are understanding fundamental behavioural truths about humankind.
They have such a powerful unfounded victim complex that they are unemployable in the private sector. THAT probably does contribute to the gender earnings gap.
I think the difference in women’s super could be an important social issue, but I don’t understand how,... if married/kids, she would have access to husband super, either as shared marital income, or as a fair proportion when divorce happens....
Miss Lyons got up on 60 minutes recently and banged her 'discrimination pot’ about the pay gap. And Tara Brown-Nose wasn't about to correct her either. We really need these people exposed for the liars they are.
When female tennis players are competing they play the best of 3 sets per match, men play best of 5 sets. Women and men receive the same payments per match while the men always have to play more actual games due to the number of sets. How is this equal or equitable to men. The women are effectively paid the same per match for less effort, surely this discriminates against men and is therefore illegal.
I have always wondered how a legal challenge against the various Tennis Federations would stand up in court. A men's rights organisation should seriously launch a discrimination case after next year's Australian Open.
Women have in many areas of life ridden on the back of the efforts of men. This applies particularly to where women have taken up sports that have traditionally been played by men. On the ABC radio nearly every saturday during the sport programs in respect to sports like women's cricket and soccer, there is a perpetual whinge about how much less women earn than men. They never compare the public interest is these sports on a by gender(sic) basis in terms of admission revenue, TV viewers, TV rights income etc etc.
It's worse, much worse. If you look at how much female tennis players (or other sporstwomen) get paid *as a fraction of total revenues for the event (gate receipts and television rights etc) women get paid FAR more than men. It's simple sense - some sports (Superbowl) raise hundreds of millions - the players are highly paid. The International tiddlywinks championship - barely covers the cost of venue hire ...
Human Resources: "Mary, your not earning as much as John. Our internal investigation into the gender pay gaps shows you need to do the same amount of overtime as John" Mary: "But I don't want to do overtime. I want to get paid the same as john for less hours".
As a man in nursing I certainly receive the same pay as every other worker in this profession. Unfortunately I am subjected to sexism that the females aren't. Sorry to burst their bubble.
Yeah, the women are only interested in equality when it doesn't favour them. Don't expect any 'pay gap' action in nursing or teaching or child care. Even the Office for Women only has 25% male staff and a pag gap in favour of women and they are supposed to be set up for equality. It's a joke.
I'm a long way from Canberra - but even I heard that fzzzzzt shirt circuit sound all the way from Melbourne. "We don't have the modelling to draw a conclusion, but our initial premise is totally accurate - without the modelling". Sheesh
What modelling? Copy and paste the data into excel, create a pivot table, on one axis add the profession, on the other add gender and review the average pay. This takes 5 mins to do and the pay gap will drop dramatically when you control on profession. I'm in Canberra in 3 weeks and I can do if for free
It is wealth and prosperity that benefit women, and its mostly males that create that prosperity. First world countries have a high standard of living because wealth was created along with the development of industry.
The people who led the development, built the technology and made the discoveries were primarily males. They were not especially privileged, but they were the brains and motivation behind all the success. It is males that run all the essentials in a developed country. If males went on strike and did only home duties, things such as electricity grids and water supplies would break down very quickly. There would be serious famine as trucks, trains, and ferries broke down and of course most operators would not be there. Sewerage works would fail, farms would fail, disease and starvation would prevail. Phone systems and Internet systems would fail permanently; they could not be maintained.
If females were to go on strike, and did only home duties, the quality of life we have would continue. The bureaucrats would stop passing a greater variety of sexual harassment laws, workplace bullying laws, quota laws to favour women and the latest rape laws. Without feminist influence in the law, the sentences would still favor women, but the bias would be less extreme. Many innocent men would not be charged. (Eg RU-vid search for: *Rape Liar Exposed* - Paul Elam). The Gender Studies classes would stop the male bashing. But many of us would not notice, it wouldn't matter. More noticeable would be the temporary partial closure of schools and hospitals which would be emergency only ... but life would go on without disease, famine or a loss of Internet.
To be fair liberating the female workforce has been beneficial for western society. We as males benefit from the work in many fields females do but I take your point that at the extreme end of the spectrum you often will find men as the driving force of discovery and endeavour
Could the senator look into the Equal Parenting Act of 2006 that was rolled back by the Gillard government. Currently 80% of contested family hearings result in a 70/30 split in favour of women, which has the roll-on effect that most negotiated settlements are also 70/30. This forces women into the gendered roles of housewives and men into the gendered roles of wage earners contributing horribly to the wage gap. There are many men that believe in women's equal participation in the workforce and the dismantlement of outdated patriarchal views of men's and women's roles in rearing children. Yet for some unforeseen reasons it is women's groups who publicly state they believe in equality actively blocking this move towards equality, and men's groups, lambasted frequently in the media as retrogrades trying to take us back to the dark ages, that are fighting for a future where men and women are equal.
Alex Smith I know my ex is stewing since I got equal custody of my kids. No more gravy train for her lol. She’s looking for a job now, it’ll be her first in 20 years.
“Well Minster Senator, for one, women choose lower paying jobs with less risk, they work shorter hours and many of them do part time which we have converted into full time for our statistics... oops!!! I mean, the patriarchy, sexism!”
Absolutely right, it’s only when the bitches finally realise that they want a family, either by marriage or getting some poor bastard to supply the sperm needed, that they then start earning less.
Any senior secondary high school student studying mathematics could have answered that theoretical question in affirmative. It goes to the equations themselves rather than plugging in the gathered statistics. Grab an excel spreadsheet, run the percentage of male participation in childcare from 0-100 and then plug the results into whatever higher level aggregate data you're looking at.
I never saw any discrimination towards women at work. Actually the opposite. Among my many jobs I was once a salesman at DecoRug, Australia's leading carpets and leading business. As part of my job, I(all men) had to climb a 10 feet ladder and bring down any rugs displayed at that height. The rugs were quite heavy and the female sales person was exempted because of this. I get she is weaker but how is that my problem? The guys had to get down rugs even if the customer belongs to the female sales person. Did she get paid less? No. But she worked less for sure.
Do different people provide different value propositions? Most say not everyone brings the same value to a bussiness. So why have an expectation they be paid the same? Or more precisely, why have an expectation employers pay the same?
Can our politicians focus on real problems instead of made up hype. Its abundantly clear that women over a lifetime will earn less because of their work CHOICES and their CHOICE to have children and focus on family.
The Australian Senate needs Mr Leyonhjelm. Level headed, honest, intelligent and one of a very few that does the job he is elected to do. Every interview he gives, he is articulate and well versed on the topic.
I feel the woman is trying to rush the issue to get things done her way. Because if she would have done here homework right, she would have the answers to what that guy is asking. I really appreciate the effort of the guy and his understanding.
If women are paid less than men there would be no unemployed women. The statistic is flawed. It's that simple. If a woman works 40 hours a week in the same job for 20 years she will get paid exactly the same amount as a man working 40 hours a week for 20 years. If the woman works 70 hours a week she will get paid more and likely promoted more quickly, the same as a man would under the same conditions. The difference is that the man is more likely to work the extra hours, more likely to work in a higher risk job like underground mining that pays more and more likely to work in a more physically demanding occupation. Why are we still flogging the same old horse that we've been flogging for 50 years expecting a different answer. Every country that has done audits of payrolls and conditions has found that in fact women get paid more and men simply don't complain about it. The BBC did this and ended up raising the wages of a number of men who were being underpaid for the same work as women.
lavja.... Exactly. I just see young myself looking for job after high-school, of course without any qualifications I could even go to construction work (where we all know being the new born means what..... taking all the heavy and dirty shit, being bullied and also belive or not but constant study about construction work) or I go and take plates and spoons on tables. I choose hospitality and bar work. 1st I was realized: I am the only man 2nd: I earn less than girls with nice smile and big boobs 3rd: I work more and harder to keep the dream job in a warm clean environment, cause girls keep applying :) haha What I learned from this is, the whole thing is bullshit and life is life and I am not crying about it. If life gives you different opportunities than catch it work hard, be motivated by the situation and your future visions and became a manager in a bar after hard work. Such as man can do it in a women work environment, girls can do it men environment, such as my ex who is a geologist chick, and tha russian lady (Svetlana Kapanina) who is a bad ass pilot. I never hear them complain!!!!
Showed my teenage daughter these clips today because her teachers are doubling down on Cultural Marxism talking points. David, you did an amazing job of exposing this fraud.
I dont know who this guy is but i am voting for u . Everything thats wrong with this country ur fixing it and putting these idiots down with plain and simple questions that non can answer
What a waste of time that meeting was, those brainless women are one of the reasons why there is a gender earnings gap, because for the most part women are lazy, they don’t want to do the harder jobs that earn more money, plus they also take time off work more often, and are less likely to do overtime.
Exactly. If they can't comprehend basic statistics then why are they being paid so much? The Senator had to repeat the question 3 or 4 times to 2 people to get what was an obvious answer. A school boy could have answered that question instantly.
This is great. "We haven't done the modelling" Literally 20 seconds later.. "We know there are a number of factors contributing to the pay gap" I'm wondering whether she hears herself talk. How can you know if you haven't done the proper analysis? Just amazing.
This is golden. "We have established there are a number of factors contributing to the gender pay gap." Indeed we have. In this video we established that one of them is that men and women make different occupational choices. In another related video on this channel (same senator asking, same women answering), we established that another factor is that men in the same job as women work longer hours. I am looking forward to the the next video. Excited to find any other factors.
This is too easy. I found another factor already in the next video! Safety. Women return unharmed from work more reliably than men. Of course that is not factored in. On a side note - why is not half their board male? I think they should do a gender equality analysis on their own organization.
+bloodmuffin123 Geezus, you're expecting a lot. These evil femocrats don't use careful detailed analysis and from that produce well reasoned findings. All their work on this issue is results driven.
if the gender pay gap is real, and women were not paid as much for the same work, then why isnt every single company hiring only women? Its cheaper, right? Because of the pay gap?
Exactly, despite being racist (according to SJWs) employers are quite happy to employ immigrants willing to work for less money if their skills match the job. Indeed, that's de rigeur in agriculture. Can't think for one second why they wouldn't emloy a highly skilled/highly motivated reliable woman employee if they could get her for 30% (or even 5%) less than her male counterpart.
Imagine needing to diplomatically deal with this much crazy and dangerous. You're a hero, as general citizens we just don't feel power to change this hypergamous death spiral. But we know we can vote :) and in the privacy of the booth, right minded men and women we hope will make the right decision to avoid collapse. Cheers!
The distribution of men and women in the different management roles Why not the distribution of men and women among the janitorial staff? It's always about the top earning spots with these people, never the bottom.
So they admit that if there were more male child care workers then it would affect the study. This proves the whole study is contaminated and will not provide an honest outcome. What a useless department and a waste of time and resources. Sack the whole department and save us taxpayers some money.
This man is extremely smart. That is what politician should be like. Exposing idiots like in this example. Good job Australia. I wish we had someone like that.
"We haven't done proper modeling on it, so I can't give you an exact answer" Then why the hell would you go to a senate hearing unprepared to present your case?!
Lol these women are on to a good thing, looking for something that doesn’t exist for a world that is absolutely convinced does. Job for life girls, well done.🙄🙄
I worked almost 3 decades in manufacturing as an engineer and manager. Overwhelmingly men put in far, far more hours than women, hands down. Women went home to their children. No one complained back then. Now they are complaining? Women who worked longer hours were single with no kids. Competent? Yes! Same hours? Not at all.
It is truly amazing to see this. Those women seem bad with numbers and seem not to know what they are talking about. I get the feeling they try to manipulate policy without backing it up with the numbers but almost like a religion and they think it is ok not to back good policy with good data. They might be ‘filling’ up a quota theirselves to sit there because they are simply not qualified. Isn’t this sad? That you fill up a quota and get a job many others could do? It hurts me to see this
Destroyed!! Simply amazing how condescending these women were towards this man who clearly demonstrated in a professional manner, that their information was based on skewed parameters and not representative of the entire spectrum relating to the alleged pay gap between men and women. Instead of being honest and stating that they need to go back and ascertain the failing information for a clearer and precise picture, they attempted to talk down to this man and portray him as a clueless mysoginist which he certainly isn't.
Good lord. So this initial finding is about earnings across the board? This senator is on point. They should consult with him before starting any study. He always points out a crucial piece of data that should be factored in, which isn't. His question here about whether the gap would be affected by more men working in a low paid sector is to reveal they weren't comparing their figures against people doing the same job.
sweep out the bloody lot of them ,get rid of bad element .replace with honest humans that work for the people, they need to pass a narssisist test before getting in.no more solicitors lawyers etc
The Workplace Gender Equality Agency must be given the remit to look for the companies that are breaking the law by paying a woman less than they are paying a man for exactly the same job. They must bring a case against them and prosecute in a court of law. Hourly rate and annual salary plus hours worked and time taken off sick or leave must be accounted for. Only then when prosecutions are won will I believe them. I can see they are fiddling the figures to keep themselves employed. They no longer have an agency or a job when they cannot show the laws are being broken.
You'll never get through too someone who thinks they're getting done over all the time by the opposite sex . That chip on the shoulder will allways be there.
