Come with us as we explore the beauty of Palompon Leyte- featuring the Kalanggaman Island 🏝️
We left Manila on July 1st and our flight back was supposed to be on July 4th but yeah things happen- cancelled flight so naging July 5th.
Cebu Pacific handled the situation well. Free accommodation at Madison Hotel. Meals were provided as well. But it could have been better pa rin of course if we went home on time 🤍
Anyways… safety first and everything happens for a reason.
Going back, we spent 2 hours on our land trip from tacloban airport to palompon. Kent’s cousin Kenneth was kind enough to pick us up. Shoutout Kenneth! Thank you 🤍
We were all tired and got some rest as we reached Tita Nora’s (Kent’s Aunt- a legit Palompongan) house.
We woke up at 5:30AM the next day and went to Palompon Public Market and tried their ‘mix & match’- Tsokolate & Puto Maya for our breakfast.
After that, we bought seafoods and went home to cook for our lunch and baon na din sa island.
At around 11:30AM we went back to Palompon Port (near Palompon Market) and waited for the boat. We were on time kasi 12NN ang alis ng bangka.
We reached the island at around 1:00PM (as far as I remember 😅)
Beach time, lunch time, photoshoot, chasing the sunset, relax and nap time.
We slept early (8:00pm) since there isn’t any activity in the island during the night unlike Boracay that has night life and so on.
We woke up at 5AM and explore the other end of the island. Walk walk lang and enjoying our last glimpse in the paradise.
Our boat picked us up at 11AM, so we went home at around 12:30PM.
We did a proper wash since YOU CAN’T USE SOAP/SHAMPOO in the island. That’s how they care about the corals and the living things under the sea.
After some rest, we went to Blanche’s Refreshment (near the market lang din) and ordered their best Halo-Halo! Indeed the best.
As we finished our merienda, we went to the souvenir shop- Ramon Souvenir and of course, we bought some pasalubong for our loved ones. We got Kalanggaman shirts, key chains, can opener, ref magnet, bags, bracelets and so on.
At around 6PM, we went to Palompon Baywalk and had our dinner. We had different kinds of ihaw ihaw! And sasarap! Bbq, isaw, chicken legs, laman, squid, liempo and more.
Tumtums are full 🤰 We went home and rest. Not really- robert, kent, and his uncle had inuman session. 🍻
On our last day, we went to San Juan Beach Resort which is one potpot (sidecar) away from the house as well. We went fishing but got nothing haha! This sidetrip is very korea- like- you’re on a beach but it doesn’t mean that you need to swim. Sight seeing lang and enjoying the ocean breeze.
At around 11:30AM, we went back to the house and had boodle fight.
After eating, we packed our things and went to the terminal but sadly, the van going to the airport left earlier than we expected. So we went to the alternative route. Palompon-Ormoc-Tacloban. It went well, we checked in at the airport on time.
So there you go, as I mentioned above, our flight was cancelled. We were already sitting on the plane when they announced. There isn’t a specific reason or idk if I just didn’t heard.
We spent the night at Madison Hotel. It was a rainy day back then that’s why we decided to stay at the hotel. We went to the gym but there’s nothing much to do so we went back to our room and waited a call for the earliest flight possible.
Fast forward, we flew back to Manila from 3PM to 4PM and that’s it! Thank you guys for watching.
Honestly, this was my first airplane ride. I just don’t have a reason before to ride an airplane since I was born and lived in Metro Manila and we don’t have relatives in any far provinces.
Luckily, kent has! Looking forward for more of these travels. Philippines has so much to offer!
