A Latitude that wasn't getting any power from the charger turned out to have a familiar problem. Music by; Synthis - / samsynthis Counterwise - / xdcorndogxd Ertrii - / ertrii
Thanks for the video. I am trying to troubleshoot this exact problem. I am a beginner at the component level. could you tell me what type capacitors are on the top and bottom areas that were in the video? I have some bad ones and want to make sure I replace with correct ones. Thank you!
great video - working on a dell 5289 not starting - have good voltages but power light will light but then go out also battery not charging so will look that area -- thanks for this 1 as it will help!!
Hi, great video. I have the same machine, and it won't power on at all. I have disassembled, and verified that I am getting the +~19V, & +~3.3V at the power connector on the mobo. Any thought was to why the machine won't boot at all, with ot without battery connected? Thanks!
previously I have followed your tutorial and it worked, but now the same damage occurs. what is the value of the capacitor? because I want to replace it.
I haveing the same laptop, and it looks like i have a simular problem..exaktly 2 years after your video. lol. I turn on the laptop, and the power-led lights up for 20sek, then goes off. No spinning fan. Same problem with or without power cord plugged in. a can hear a nozzling high-frekvenzy sound when the power is on.. Can in be a bad cap? And can i remove it with a nprmal soldering iron? I dont have the heat gun like u.. thanx in advance.
i have really fallen in love with your tutorials they are really helping but i have problems with downloading schematic diagrams.. is that a software you are using or what? please help
I have the same computer. I got a new computer so I put my e5440 up and its been dead for a year not used. Plugged it in and nothing. No power charging light. Only the CD rom light blinks 3 times when plugging or unplugging. Ive tried resetting it. I bought a new battery and still nothing. Completely dead. Can you help fix it?
Hi, I have just the same problem on my laptop. It is the same model. Please tell me how you got those small caps out with the hot air gun. Mine won't go out. Thanks.
If you're having trouble removing a component, try applying new leaded solder to the pins with your soldering iron, so it all melts in. This will lower the melting point of the joint, so it should be easier to heat as a whole with the hot air.
@@Adamant_IT Thank for advice, it helped, but there is everything beeping on this board. I de-soldered some suspicious caps, but it don't helped. It looks like you had a big luck with your motherboard.
@@rudolfzaris675 flux also help, but not as much as adding lead solder to the joints first to lower the meting temperature. Google the schematic and find where your 19v, 5v and 3.3v are and if they are present. Also always inspect the ports, especially the USB ports for damage to the plastic tab resulting in bent pins which could be shorted to the ground shield or worse to each other.
Hello I have the same laptop When I press the power button my laptop doesn’t immediately boot up it will take almost 15 to 20 min for screen to show something sometimes the laptop doesn’t even go on the screen remains black but the light on the power button is on and the hard drive indicator light is constantly blink at a fast rate, what would be the problem kindly help
I m grateful to you bro...it wasn't the same capacitor to me but the one closely to the battery connector. Two issues i had: when i tried to turn it on without the battery it turned on for a while then it shut off and again off and on...probably my oem charger hasn't enough power to start the laptop. When i connected the battery everything fine. What i wonder is why you didn't replaced the faulty capacitor at least with a used one from a useless motherboard. Personally i found two of 10u (micro) and pur them in parallel (22 shows your schematic), just to reduce the very small possibility that something goes wrong in case that this additional capacitance is necessary. Anyway, thanks a lot!
It depends on the circuit, but since capacitors are often found in multiples, you can't really test them in-circuit because you'll be reading all of them at the same time. Injection definitely would've helped me here, but I hadn't learnt it at this point.
In this case it makes sure that the metal underside of the top-case doesn't touch the mobo. Sometimes you see covers like that for liquid resistance as well.
@@Adamant_IT Oh I see. Do you know what the name/s of the product might be? I work on very old laptops and enjoy the shit out of fixing them. It's therapeutic for me, I'm not sick or anything but it feels soooooo good. I need to to get some of this tape.
And idea on the problem (Dell E6540), I press power fans kick up, then thr fans really kick up then just stop and the light bar, (cylinder looking light, dk what is) And it keeps flashing
Probably need to clear ME region of BIOS/EC. I can’t provide you a guide on how to do this as I’ve not done it myself, but know it’s best to find a clean BIOS dump.
I have a Dell Latitude E7240 which powers on but no display and no hdmi output, when I plug the charger in the system boots up without display: - Power button led comes on - Hard drive led flashes once very quickly - Battery led comes on for one second - After 4 seconds the power button led goes off - After another 4 seconds the power button led comes back on and stays on, the hard drive led flashes once very quickly The green leds on the actual msata SSD light up If I leave the system in this state then the cpu and heatsinks get hot and eventually the fans will spin (but still no display) Pressing the power button once will turn off the system (cpu will cool down, msata leds will turn off) I’ve tried the following: - Performed hard reset / static discharge, disconnected and checked cmos battery (3v on multimeter) - Replaced RAM, msata, screen with known working - Tried booting while holding down ESC, D, FN keys - Tried HDMI output (no output) - same behaviour with battery or charger cable I’d really, really appreciate any other suggestions / tips, Thanks in advance
i have a similar laptop... just that mine wont work on battery... works only when plugged in.... produces a funny sound when the battery is connected... anyone with a possible solution
I get a low frequency hum or buzz for 3 seconds. Removing the charger cuts power instantly. Looking at the battery information in the BIOS shows it has 72% charge and in Windows it pretends to be charging, but leaving it “charging” for a week it doesn’t change charge level. This was with a 90w charger.
My laptop has the same problem it’s a dell latitude e5530. Even a charged battery won’t turn it on. Hopefully with some of your tips I can get it working.
Yes my laptop works now but I keep it plugged in on sleep mode so that it never shuts down completely. I don’t want to risk having the same problem again by shutting it down all the way.
Is is me is is it that company’s make these things break so easy I have an Acer swift 1 laptop after 6 months it has a split on the front bezel from a paper clip, swear they are making computers not last long
