This monitor is an interesting piece of tech, but does it have any fans that can be loud in a quiet room? I had to send back that famous Alienware ultrawide OLED, because of that loud fan noise.
When viewing a PS5/XSX on this monitor in pillar boxed, what are you able to set the consoles display settings to? 2160p with 120hz supported and HDR enabled and VRR simultaneously?
Yep, the pacing of his voice seems perfect and the not "overly excited" like some youtubers. Plus, there is no negativity in his review of the product. Everything is just pleasant and smooth.
Bro, don't stop being you. I'm so glad you covered console gaming and while you brought up the lower ppi, you explained how it would be useful rather than talking it down. Many thanks.
It's more like 27" 1080p than 27" 1440p, it's horrible when you compare around 85 ppi to 110 ppi. The image 85 ppi is noticeably blurrier and sometimes individual pixels are visible. Yes, it's immersive. I own 1000R myself and it's very good and I can imagine that 800R is even more immersive than 1000R but 85 ppi, no. I'd prefer 110 ppi for games and work.
@@poglifeactual7936 32" is better to use at 4K (1440p isn't good enough, but 1080p is absolutely horrible). There are a lot of 1440p monitors available, so comparing them is necessary. It's not fine to play using 1080p when compared to 1440p. If we compare 1440p (110ppi) to 4K, it would be fine, but comparing 1080p to 1440p, it isn't. 110ppi is on another level.
I've looked up for weeks for any info on this panel. Videos finally came out and they didn't really ask what I needed to be answered, I still didn't know exactly what I needed to know cause this is a huge purchase and something you stick with for years. This video left me very satisfied, thank you for taking the time to make it. Great stuff and informative here.
@@cozy8397 yeah wish I knew they would have went down in price when I bought one at launch I ended up paying $2098 after tax but I did add a 4 year best buy protection plan and after tax it was like $1950 before I added the protection
Thanks for video man just ordered one 30 mins ago from best buy it was on sale for $1199 i almost missed it because sale was ending in 37 mins. Regular price goes back to a whopping $1699
I literally just bought this week and I love it. I do have one request though - Is it possible for you to create a "What to do after buying a ultrawide monitor"? Meaning, going into detail about settings/setup? The dos and don'ts?
The pixel density is a complete deal breaker if youre used to 4k and/or retina 5k monitors. Its just not cutting it. Ill wait for a 4k OLED monitor next year.
@@r4plez Monitor is a up to 240hz refresh rate, not 240 fps. You can have as much fps on any monitor you want. It is not hard at all to have more than 60 fps at 4K. This screen literally have the same PPI as a 27" full hd screen from the last centurty. And it is even close to the same as a 55" 4K tv set, that most use from several feet away. The specs of this screen is about the worst i have seen in a long time.
gaming. and yes i have a ps5. the stretching doesnt bother me in the least honestly. the immersion factor far outweighs a small amount of stretching. i love it
wow nice monitor... I only have the 55" c1 OLED as a TV in my room and I still love it.. every once in awhile I bust out my super long HDMI cord to connect it to the pc in the room next to me so I can do a little gaming. I havent gamed much on it at all! but when I do its always like Wow what a beautiful picture.
You know what I love about your reviews? They have personality. Don't get me wrong, I hope you grow and add more tools to the technical side of your reviews, but you already have the greatest asset that so many other massive reviewers lack - personhood. I don't care much for 30 minutes of monotone spewed tech specs. I like some individuality. I plan to get this same ultrawide and will also use my ps5 on it like a weirdo! cheers bro
My English is not good and you speak fast, but soooo clearly and only necessary things. I bought a LG34GN850-B PSI monitor for 605€, but I think, I will give him back 🔙 and buy an OLED, probably a 34".
I'm looking a monitor for work (80% of time), pc gaming (5%) and console gaming (15%) and this one looks like a good candidate. Thank you for a review.
I would definitely recommend you buy from someone with a very good return policy. The heavy curvature and low PPI will make this a terrible monitor for productivity
Great review of this monitor, very comprehensive and covers the main talking points! Really excited for this monitor. It's nice to have a big OLED ultrawide that matches against the size of the C2 42". The normal 34" ultrawides can feel just a tad small and narrow. Question regarding the HDMI 2.1 ports, do you know if they are the full 48Gbps? I want to connect my 4090 using the HDMI 2.1 to get 10-bit 240Hz if possible.
I have a Samsung 34" Ultrawide and I can confirm that it does feel a bit small and narrow. Although having said that, I was helping my mate out who has a 24" 1080P Dell monitor from the mid 2000s and this is a lot better than that. I'm running a rtx 3070 and I'm looking to go a bit wider with a 38" 3880x1440P as I'm told they feel a bit more immersive and have a better curve than this one(1800R).
I am tossing and turning over the low ppi this screen offers, it’s in my opinion the only downfall.. I can’t imagine spending 1700 on a monitor for it to look pixelated. Im very curious about the Samsung OLED 49, but it of course was changed to a 1800 curve instead of the 1000 which I believe was a mistake. It seems like there’s always a perfect monitor with one shortcoming and it’s so frustrating.
Agree. I've been needing to upgrade for a wfh setup and want picture by picture so looking at all the monitors in this class for the past couple weeks and for the amount of money, none of them seem perfect. Each is lacking in some area that is hard to justify when spending nearly twice what it'd cost to have multiple smaller monitors. Definitely feel the same frustration you do.
This is great for Multitasking, the Picture in Picture is great, but the lower resolution/ppi is quite a deal breaker for me, great videos, I hope you will get your hands on the new Lg C3 when it comes out to do some comparison with your current lg c2
@@MinimalisTech I'm in a dilemma between c2(42) and LG ultragear , c2 has full 4k resolution, ultra wide monitors only 3440x1440. . Now i use xiaomi 34 ultra wide, It's a little too small, but I'm afraid 45 will be too wide and whether LG c2 will not be a better choice(120hz but full 4k vs 240 hz but lower resolution. ) And c2 is much cheaper
GREAT REVIEW!!!! What you think of this monitor compare to the new 49'' Curved UltraGear™ DQHD 1ms 240Hz Monitor with VESA DisplayHDR™ 1000. I know this one is OLED and the other isn’t but I would like to hear you take on it
Pro tip. Run DSR through nvidia control panel @ 5120x2160 on this ultrawide during gaming and it becomes a 4k ultrawide. It's night and day especially with this ppi. You would barely notice the difference compared to a native 4k TV when gaming.
Hey, hmm I'm having trouble deciding what to buy as I want to record what's on my screen to upload on youtube would you recommend 2 monitors or would this lg monitor be good for that?
84 Pixel density is VERY low for 3440*1440/45". Its actually as low as a 27" 1080p screen, which is pretty poor for 2023. In comparison an 1440p 27" is around 110ppi. This means, that you have to put this EVEN FURTHER from your eyes than an LG CX48(92ppi). And that also has to sit waaay to far for desk-use. Curve is not a problem on an ultrawide, but PPI is. It will feel like a serious downgrade from an 1440p monitor, let alone 4k.
I doubt that it is as bad as 27 inch 1080p, just because it has same ppi doesn't mean that it has same image quality. CX48 looks sharper than a 24 inch 1080p display, even though it has same PPI.
The images quality is only as good as the PPI. Low PPI will make textures blurry and you will see a lot jaggies. DLDSR will help but will cripple your fps even in you run a 4090. I’ll be waiting for 140-160 PPI version
Still a hard pass for me until they release a 32" 4k 165-240Hz OLED with a minimum brightness of 250-300 nits in SDR and 1000+ nits in HDR with glossy coating. I have full control of the lighting in my room and I've used 4K monitors since 2016. I'm not going to compromise to get anything less. My current monitor is Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. It's not OLED but I still feel it beats this overall. 😔
Personally i feel 4k creates too much input latency and 1080p just doesn't look right. 1440p is the perfect middle ground. Also anything below 240hz feel stuttery. I guess this is perfect display for me. I am just hoping this will not feel sluggish since it does have more pixels than regular 1440p. Anyway thats my opinion.
i am on a 32" 4k@160hz ips monitor and as much as i want to have an oled gaming monitor i am afraid of going back in resolution. before i had this 32" i had a 27" 4k ips gaming monitor that replaced a 27" 1440p gaming monitor, and already back then the 27" 1440p ips monitor started to look blurry to me compared to the 4k oled TV i had at that time. So now being used to 32" 4k i am really afraid to think that 1440p is just not good enough (anymore). however, 32" 4k oled gaming monitors will probably still take 1-2 years to arrive.
I'm using a 45" 4K Samsung TV with 60 hz refresh rate. Works great for me & I do game a lot, RTX 3090 is just fine for 4K 60fps games. I need the large 4K screen since I'm a software engineer and need as much screen space as I can get.
So you basically said you're not going to buy this monitor. Trying to uplift and convince yourself that your current setup will suffice. In more words than you should've.
GREAT REVIEW! Can I please ask one important question for you: In low light (or NO light) room conditions, are the blacks as deep as they are on your LG C2 TV? Would it be possible for you to check that? A HUGE issue for many people is the matte coating, which obviously degrades blacks and colours when it's in well-lit/direct light situations. But could you check whether it's an issue in dark (or no light) conditions because that might be a deal-breaker for people. The Asus's coating for instance, although matte, reportedly looks as good as glossy in a room with the lights off (or at least very low and not facing the screen). THANK YOU!
Yo! Yeah I’d be happy to check this evening. If you have IG hit me up. I can take some photos of both my C2 and this in pitch black rooms or dimly lit and shoot it your way. My handle is mnmls.tech
@@MinimalisTech Thank you for the quick reply! I don't have instagram but if you could have a look and just give me your opinion (I trust your eyes, lol!) that would be great. I'm not really that obsessed with refresh rate so for me (and I presume many others) THE number one attraction from these monitors are the 'perfect' blacks and infinite contrast that oled can deliver. That's why everyone's freaking out about the screen coating despite almost all other gaming monitors having it. Thanks again, and great channel 👊
@@thepadster123 sounds good! What I’ll do is check this evening and show a comparison with a community post. I’m sure others may want to know as well. Keep you posted! I’ll reply here too
Man i wish i could afford to buy one of these. This thing is nice. I don't have a gaming monitor i use my Samsung tv which i have had for 7 to 8 years.
To ANYONE thinking of using a console on ANY UW OLED for long periods of time... PLEASE DO NOT. I did this with my aw3423dw and it burned in the 16:9 aspect ratio due to the pixels on the sides not being used. No amount of anti burn measure will help here due to it being in 16:9. Just get something else for console gaming like C2.
In my HP Envy PC, I have the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card with 8GB GDDR6 memory with LHR. I have the Intel i9-12900 processor and upgraded from 16GB to 32GB ram memory. Will my PC and this monitor be more than efficient for gaming? What Say U?
This LG is nice but the blurry text is a dealbreaker I can’t handle that so I went with the Samsung 32 inch ultra white 8K G8 monitor that mug is awesome mini LED The curve is really immersive on the Samsung G8 as well
Hey there. How agressive is the auto-brightness adaption? I'm rocking the lg 48qb900 and for work purposes it really is terrible as the dimming is really too aggressive for my taste. Sadly there is no way to run it off.
Love the review man. Definitely an instant subscribe from me. Would love to see your input and review on the CORSAIR XENEON FLEX or even an comparison video of this monitor to the Xeneon Flex.
You should play overwatch with a 16:9 aspect ratio, unfortunately the game crops your fov and you see less when using 21:9 :( - tip from a master 2 supp with an ultrawide
@@MemerMan "Common ultrawide resolutions are pillarboxed to 21:9, which introduces small black bars even at the common resolutions marketed as 21:9. Only works in borderless windowed mode." According to PC gaming wiki..
I got this monitor and currently testing it. For gaming is fantastic, although mainly I have been using it for FPS games and have to say it has caused some motion sickness and I am sitting at least 80 CM away from the screen (update: got used to it after one week, motion sickness is gone). For story based games there is no question about it is one of the best I have tried due to the screen size, the next one runner up will be the Alienware 34inch OLED. The part where I am struggling and don't know if really returning it, is the pixel density, it is really noticeable for text reading :/
Based on the fast-paced action and the game dominating my field of vision, I felt a certain way. This reminded me of my initial reactions to rapid VR games. However, just as I adapted to VR, I got accustomed to this monitor while playing Warzone. Everyone's experience may vary, but if you're hesitant to try it due to this, I'd recommend giving it a shot. It's an excellent gaming monitor. Cheers!@@ThePresentation010
saw this in person and if i didn't have pother stuff i'm currently paying for i'd buy this. it is ridiculously gorgeous. how is the pixel density? heard it's not the best
Thanks for the info. That comparison with a 32" 1440p wrt dpi was what i wanted to know. Im comfortable with my 32" 1440p wrt dpi as im at fair distance away from it while using it . Think if this is similar in ppi, then should be a breeze to switch to
I personally hate it when my monitor hangs down, and a too bigscreen isn't it for me, I will reduce from 32'' to 28'' inch. It give you better focus for production work and gaming
I’m building Amy first pc with some help and I’m getting a rtx 3050 and was wondering if this will compatibility a b550 motherboard?this monitor looks amazing
This may be a rookie question, but I'm newer to this specific monitor after switching from a 4K TV. Also upgraded from the Xbox series s to the X also. What's your and even others that see this current xbox tv & display options settings as well as monitor settings? I've navigated monitor side fairly well but keep trying to compare 1440p vs. 4K UHD (though I know 4K vastly differs, etc). Use the ultra high-speed hdmi that came with xbox but wanting to dial everything in better for quality and also overall speed/lag minimizing. Any is appreciated.
I think because that computer monitor is curved and makes everything look more wider or panoramic. But I always had a TV when I played console games I never owned a PC because I always like console games
Man I can't decide if I should get the lg or the samsung oled g8. I want a sharp monitor but also a big one and I don't know what's more important to me. Which one would you take?
I’m a console gamer I just want a 32” 4K OLED with 120hz and I’d purchase it instantly, currently got ASUS ROG PG32UQ which is a good picture for IPS but it’s still not OLED and it struggles with dark scenes and blacks
1600p ultra wide would not require a 4090, I don't know why this resolution is not a thing. I use this in my 42 C2 and it is a great resolution, everything on my 3070 ti runs smoothly
