Hi John, I seen this yesterday at Currys for about £200. I have an xbox series X and have been wanting to make the jump to 4K. What sort of games do you play? is there much ghosting at all? Sorry for all the questions! :)
@@fullmetalboon4670 that’s where I got mine from too! I play games like COD Warzone, Arkham Knight, Spider-Man, ghost of Tsushima etc. I’ve had no issues it looks great, and for the price I don’t think there is better out there. Just remember there are no internal speakers so you’ll need headphones or buy some external ones (I picked some up from Curry’s for about £20)
@@JohnFisherChoir Hi John, Thanks for taking the time to reply I really appreciate it!! I didn't know it had no speakers, but I usually plug my headphones into the controller but thanks for the heads up :) Nice that's a varied amount of games! So handles fast paced games like CoD well, and dark games like Arkham Knight :) I currently have a 1080P IPS which I prefer over VA panels in dark games, I mainly play Elden Ring atm. I Imagine Spiderman looks great to! Thanks John you have convinced me to get this monitor! :D Cheers.
i use this monitor and in my opinion there is nearly no competition in this price range!!! lg did so much right with this one... i use it primarly for gaming and its flawless... lg uses the same panel as in their higher priced models... that means you get the same picture qualite etc. without some extra features like usb... but why on earth would you need that...
It's a bargain. I bought mine recently and couldn't wish better monitor for the price, fantastic image quality, sharpness and colours. I use it to play games on computer.
This is technically a gaming monitor and is marketed as such, not a productivity monitor. Right off best buy, walmart and the LG site "The 27UL500-W 27" 16:9 4K HDR FreeSync IPS Gaming Monitor"
Excellent review...I wonder what would you think of buying this monitor in black Friday 2023.. is tere any new model from LG with this price tag? or I just jump to this one and save lots of money or such high value monitor?
I'm interested in the PIP feature, so i have just a couple of questions, hopefully you can answer them: - PIP is managed by software and not by hardware right? - Have you actually tested it yet? Haven't seen any videos of people using it. - And if it's just Software managed, does it have macOS compatibility? I tend to use PIP in my current monitor (2k, TN panel) to show or a videogame console or my other computer, but thinking about upgrading to something like this. Thanks.
@@DominiqueWillkinsthis is a great question, not just for Mac users but also for Linux or even WFH PC users who can’t easily install apps onto work machines. Very unfortunate if the feature is unusable without an app… what are they thinking?
Thanks. I’ve seen several brands advertising software features in ways that sound like more or less like PiP but really aren’t so this is very helpful.
@@onshisan Yeah, seems like PiP is slowly fading away as a feature. Mom had an Old big size Toshiba, like CRT and 4:3, that had PIP and I loved using it to play SM64 and watch Cartoons. I had a 2k monitor that had PiP but quality wasn't good :( But still, PiP worked great!
I have the LG 27 UP850-W and I love it. Now I want to get a second LG 4k monitor for my new 4k cameras that I just had installed. LG has so many 4k models in 27" which one would you recommend for this application. I would get the same one I have now but don't feel the price is justified just for my camera set up. Thanks Mate ☺👍👍👍
Ive just bought this monitor used in the uk for £60, what a fantastic piece of kit for the money, the display is unreal using it with my xbox series x, id highly recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for this. I'll be using this for 10bit color video, is there a disadvantage in having a monitor that uses FRC instead of straight 10 bit version. Keep up the fine videos.
Hey man , I really appreciate these videos, I've been watching you ever since your gaming peripheral reviews on your main channel, can you also review the dell s3221QS? Much appreciated
Hello, how are you? Here reading your comment I saw yours and maybe I can give myself a hand, I have a Ps5 Slim and I want to buy a monitor to play, am I between the Gigabyte G27Q and the LG 27UL500-W? One is 1440p at 144hz and the other is 4k 60hz, which of the two do you recommend buying and why? Greetings 👍🏻👋🏻
Grear video. The only thing is that the stand that comes with this monitor is not where I saw it in your video. Its in the middle of the back and I didnt see the holes to put it in my monitor arm so not sure if I should get it.
i play in moment on a 2k monitor in 21:9..frome lg..im not so ritch that i could buy a monitor that cost 500 euros or more xD so i see this monitor...what do u think is it worth to buy ?..or give it now a better monitor ?...thanks for help
Bro, one question, I have been using the monitor in 10bit mode(nvidia control pannel) full SRGB and 6500k, since the calibration in the box said that was the settings at which they calibrated the display, but When I enable HDR it looks yellower, it does not look correct, and also it seems to have less color depth, do you know how to fix this? Always wanted to try hdr at least for the color reproduction
Hi thanks for this great review, I have a slightly higher budget €500 could you recomend a monitor that is compatible for Mac and will be used for work and TV substitute. Thanks 😀
Does anyone know how this monitor would work alongside an iMac 27" as a secondary monitor? I am looking to use it for reading emails, previewing web pages that I design, and overall, just have a secondary monitor. By the way, great review.
Hi, I need a monitor for working and productivity, I got a Dell Inspiron 3505 and I need a new External monitor, this laptop support FHD output only. If I buy this monitor how sharp will the image be? It is better to buy a 27 FHD monitor than 2k or 4k? I pretend to use this monitor also with an Acer Nitro 5 laptop so I would like to get more resolution. Thanks for your answer.
Bro is it possible to clearly see and read the ui on premiere pro? Everything small? What if you scale to 150% in Windows? Do premiere get blurry after using Windows scaling? Pls enlighten me.I just ordered a 4k 28inch monitor now I'm worried about it. Thanks
I actually have extreme screen tearing on this monitor, even when locking to 60 fps. Also on 150 fps. It tears on just every fps. Is it the monitor? Yeah it has no gsync but my old one did not have it too and the tearing was not as ridiculous as with this one. Is this monitor really tearing so hard or do I have a bad copy?
I beg to differ you will be fine with this monitor. It has 5ms response rate which you will not notice. Only thing you will not get is the 120hz refresh rate. But most games today are mostly targeting 60fps.
@@jacobdelgado5733 I know what you mean but if he is looking for a 4k monitor(Im sure this is the reason for him watching the video and typing in "4k Monitor" then there is really not a good reason for him to get a monitor thats only displaying a 1440p resolution. Also, they are not that many games as of yet that are utilizing 120 fps. Also it all depends on what games op prefer as well.
GPT4 Summary of video: **Pros of the LG 27UL500-W Monitor:** 1. Size & Resolution: It's a 27-inch 4K monitor that provides high resolution with a 163 PPI (Pixels Per Inch), which is beneficial for those who read a lot of text or do photo/video editing. 2. Gaming Capabilities: Despite being a productivity-focused monitor, it can be used for gaming thanks to its max refresh rate of 60 Hz and the inclusion of FreeSync. 4. Colors: The monitor covers 98% of the sRGB color space and can output 10 bits of color using 8-bit panel natively, plus frame rate control (FRC). It comes pre-calibrated from LG for color accuracy. 5. Brightness: The monitor's brightness is rated at 300 nits, which is acceptable but not especially bright. It might be insufficient for a very brightly lit room. 2. Stand & Build Quality: The stand lacks height adjustability, swivel, and rotation features. The bezels are somewhat thick and have a plastic feel. The reviewer recommends buying a separate monitor arm for more adjustability. 3. Ports: The number of ports is limited, which might be an issue for some users needing more connectivity options.
how do you think it would do on a nintendo switch? i currently play it on a 4k tv and it looks fine. just wanna make sure the monitor will work accordingly
it does matter. just depends on what games you play, if you play fps games then you'd feel the differenece and itll matter, if you play single player games it wont really (same for the response time). the ghosting is good tho cuz it matters
How is it so far are you experiencing any frame rate drops or is it stable enough for first person shooters, I’m looking to buy a monitor but all the information I’m seeing is that you need at least 144Hz this is capped at 60Hz
Can anybody provide me solution why the lg screen goes off and on every once in while? I got this monitor just 2 days ago and has been connected to macbook pro 2021.
Currently, there are no "budget" hdmi 2.1 monitors. The cheapest one is the 2021 Samsung Odyssey 7 and it costs 749 €. The rest of hdmi 2.1 monitors are around 900 €, if you are lucky to find them available.
