Hey Josh, You TOTALLY nailed the long-distance-relationship use case scenario! 😅 Sometimes you just HAVE to multitask during a video chat with the partner and you never want to get caught not paying full attention! Problem solved with this setup! 😄👍🏾
I'd actually buy this! Your review was the only one I've come across which did not just bash it without any thoughts. LG, please don't undersell it. You have produced a genuinely good phone!
Hmmm hard to say , pros and cons for both , the weak spot for plastic screened phones is the plastic , I suspect here the weak spot is the case and the connectors , and the battery life . the fold is more nicely integrated imo . the other elephant in the room is updates , from my experience with LG , lg has not been overly enthused about giving updates , in a year or two will lg abandon this like a red headed step child ? also , i already looked at sammy specs with the fold , and it gets a 2 year warranty ,and iirc one free screen replacement , a lot of other devices do not even get 2 years warranty for a basic handset .
Great coverage JV. I enjoyed watching an LG employee use his G8x with dual screen for hours on a flight home from Vegas last Friday. He used at least two of your use cases. Video/another app, and full-screen keyboard looking like a tiny laptop.
I do a huge amount of multi-tasking and having 2 screens available would be great. I'd love to see a fraction more battery, but it's definitely got me inerested.
I do loads of multi-tasking as well. I got myself a mobile with a large 6.99" screen especially to make it easier yet still maintaining a relatively pocket able format, but splitting the screen or jumping between apps can be frustrating, this would be so cool!
I hope they add remote control for their tv's and other brands, and appliances with this phone. It would make putting in text great and could even show you whats on the tv in the top screen as you move from room to garage or room than you go back to the tv and dim it. But most of all a mappable controller for ps4 xbox one, pc/mac games would be great.
Hello Josh, because of your video review I bought myself a LG--G8X, and as Mr Fisher said on his video, it's not a phone for tomorrow, it's a phone for today, keep up the great work Josh
Got and love this phone, thanks for your channels attention. All it still needs is google button moved down to make it an volume up triggers. And mirror screen in teepee mode to share video, pictures, etc. with someone sitting across from you.
I've Been with the G series since the G2! Bring back the rear volume rocker and power button!! Lol but for real, I'm totally stoked for this phone and I think I'll make the jump from my G6 to this!
Hi Josh, I like this solution, and hope more manufacturers will adopt similar idea for their devices (Note10+ with S-Pen and dual screen? Whoa). But as one main potential roadblock can be the battery life. Can you have a closer look during your usage and testing? Thanks.
Again, great video. Can't wait to see a full review on this phone. I've always wanted the underdog phones like the OnePlus 7 pro and haven't got the chance to get finances in order. But I wanted something that's different compared to everyone's cult favorite like Samsung and Apple. But this phone that LG is coming out with, is awesome in every way. Hope they can make the display on the case brighter as well for outdoors but overall, I think I'd get this phone regardless.
LG never seems to do preorder and release date correctly, so people buy iPhones and notes instead of waiting, and then as soon as they buy the other phone LG's phone is available in stores and no one buys it. LG tell the bribed samsung, Apple, and google carriers when this phone is available at what "LOW" price and when they can preorder it. And do it now! Don't wait for people to get impatient and buy other phones.
I have this phone as well and it's great. Just didn't kno that I have to send for the DUAL SCREEN via promition code. I thought it came out the box. Gotta wait 3-6 weeks until it comes and am Caseless until then, smh.
I have the LG G8X Thin Q Duel Screen and would like to understand how to customize game pads for games, I have played around with it however It be nice to have videos explaining exactly how to customize the game pads!
Imho, this is the smarter option for those who want the extra real estate for productivity over a large slab of screen that doesn't fold completely. That said, does the dual screen work with DS emulators?
There's no reason for it not to. The controller software just needs to be set to where the standard touchscreen controls are on the 'gameplay' display, and it will mimic you touching there.
Hey Josh, your review was great! How do you feel this phone is useful or a benefit for someone that is in school full-time or wants to run a business with this phone as their main source of communication and hand held computer?
if you think about it this is a way more practical application of a folding screen phone vs the Mate X or the Galaxy Fold hell if you dont want to use the folding screen aspect you get a neat phone too
Anybody know when it is coming out? Seems pretty cool tbh... I've had LG phones in the past but the pics have always been lackluster to me versus a comparable Samsung/Apple phone.
& here in India, we're getting this for $250 in offers (normal price $750) I'm roaming here& there recommending this phone to everyone.. but none of my friends taking me seriously.. they think Lg only makes Tvs & Refrigerators!
I have always admired how lg is willing to put themselves out on a limb with their ideas. Some are questionable, even weird but this dual screen idea of a phone is terrific. Good job LG. Now if they could only incorporate a stylus *hint * hint #lg
With Apple's money and market chops, this phone would easily be the phone of the year, and sell like crazy. Unfortunatly it has LG for that and they are the worst in those regards.
A point every reviewer seems to hide is that when vertically holding the duo screen, it is inconvenient to do typing on either of the screens. You have to rotate horizontally and use one entire screen as the keyboard. What a pitfall.
