This phone is the best phone of all time. It's extremely fast and I love fast phones I downloaded 6 apps all at once and it took under 20 seconds just to do all that. This has to be my favorite phone. I'm a fan of LG just because of this phone
This morning I sat down and set up my new LG V35 ThinQ. This was my first Android phone (coming from a Windows phone I'd had for years) and I was apprehensive about getting it set up and being able to find things. The system actually walked me through what I needed to set up immediately, imported my contacts from Google Mail, walked me through setting up the WiFi connection...got me well settled in. I was surprised how easy it was to find the settings and customization...much more intuitive that Windows mobile. Sound quality is good, the OLED screen beautiful. Fast charging proved to actually be fast. Next I'm going to set up a wireless charging pad. I got mine through Cricket Wireless for $347.00, about half the price of a Samsung Galaxy S9, it's closest competitor. Look forward to learning to utilize all the features of the V35.
One of the reasons I decided to try the LG V35 is because of the great reviews (both by publications and owners). They have generally been very positive since the time the phone was released.
Ron Nie that's why they make great 1 year old phones. LG G6 refurbished $180. Find another phone even close to the G6 for $180 you won't. Same will happen to the g7 and v30
Brendon Norris exactly and the phone was still the newest in the line at the time. TMobile had buy one get one free for the v30 at $400. If you just wait on these phones for a few months you can get amazing deals. LG is best bang for buck unless you want to go some Chinese route and I'm ok with that. After my Nexus 6p I do not want huwawei or any Chinese phone. My 6p was the biggest POS. Died at %50 only got about one hour of battery. People complain about the G6 battery life but it's been good to me I'm sure there better but I had my phone charged up last night didn't charge it overnight it's still at %95. My 6p would've %100 been dead.
A year after the LG V35 introduction the price is now available for a good lower price for this excellent phone. If you are shopping for a newer phone I highly recommend taking a look at the LG V35 ThinQ. Was very sad when my 2015 LG V10 died 8 months ago. Needed a phone quick so I tried the Moto G6 and it was okay. Recently took my mother shopping to replace her old phone. She didn't see anything she liked and suggested that I give her my phone (which she likes) and purchase a new one for myself. After confirming that is what she really wanted I decided to look at replacing my phone again. The LG V35 ThinQ had the features and solid build that I was looking for plus headphone jack with DAC. Since I'm not a fan of side buttons I was relieved have the power button on back and the volume buttons on the left side where they are less obtrusive.
Just upgraded from V20. Loved that phone. 2nd screen with OEM flip cover gave unmatched functionality. Removable battery. IR Blaster. Wide dual camera. Preferred LCD with no burn in. That said, an otherwise perfect condition V35 from eBay with a cracked back ($10 replacements available) for $125 was a no brainer. Forfeiting all the favorite functions of the V20, especially the flip cover and second screen, the V35 is still a great upgrade. So snappy and the screen is amazing (pre burn in). The screen fills out the body great too. A $5 Tech21 case makes it great to hold in the hand. My best phone yet.
I got this phone for a steal of just 300 bucks on eBay. I've havent been disappointed so far. The phone never lags or has issues and runs PUBG and even Fortnite at 60 fps at full graphics with zero lag. The portrait mode is great but camera performance is halved during nighttime. 6 gigs of ram is also more than enough for me. The speakers though, are the best thing about the phone. Great sound. 2880 x 1440 makes for a great 4k display. Its actually all ive needed as a phone. The only drawback is the nighttime camera. Otherwise you're good to go with this LG V35 ThinQ
I had an htc and it was perfect to me, size, first phone with stabilized front camera, and 24dac. I have a pixel 2 xl, and just got the v 35....same size screen as the pixel but in a smaller size..most likely keeping it
I have this phone. The Unlocked Amazon Prime Version. Which is basically unlocked. I'm using it now to type this. I love this phone honestly. I got it late at the very end of 2019 and its STILL going strong without any hiccups. I turned down the animation scale in developer options and its fast man! Just thought I'd add in my input on this phone. The ONLY downside is that I might never get android 10 on this phone. Still hoping tho. I have 9 PIE on it now. Oh, I only paid $350 - $400 for it at that limited time price for prime members when I did so no feeling bad for having to spend $900 - $950 on it as i didn't.
I have the corean model and it has Android 10. The problem of the LG phones is that LG only has all updates in coreans models. LG has two updates of the Android 10 for the corean model. But this phone will not get more updates. The V20 only have Android 9 in corean model.
My wife just got one for 200 and LOVES IT we came from iPhone xrs hell I even 'downgraded" to a Moto g7 power and it runs just as good or better than the iPhone xr same ram too and I never have to charge my phone lol . I game and everything
Yep. Bought mine last night after a water damaged galaxy and wanted water resistance again. Couldn't be happier. Just wish i could of waited and bought a used one for $200 on ebay. Really does remind me of my galaxy 8 plus but a little better.
I think this would be the perfect replacement for my 3 year old phone, wide angle secondary camera, expandable storage, fast performance, no laggy long term usage (my LG G4 is still fast after 3 yrs vs my 1 yr old Samsung S4), and finally an OLED phone by LG!
Just bought a v35. Upgrading from the G6. I got used to the longer screen on the G6 so other phones look fat to me. I was previously a Samsung guy. Can't wait to get my new phone! I may be an LG guy now.
I also had Lg g6 I have 2 options Lg v35 6+64(used mint condition) or Redmi Note 9S 6+128 (new with 1 year warranty) both are priced same in my country for $200 please recommend which is better 720G rivals Snapdragon 845
I love my V30+ThinkQ and I'm not planin to upgrade so soon. Overall it's a really good phone. Not perfect, but good and satisficing.😊 good review of v35 btw.
This phone is really good but too bad the battery doesn't last the whole day as you mentioned. I used it heavily back when I still had it. My texting, video recording, RU-vid watching, and occasional Pokemon go playing, greatly decreased the phone's daily battery storage to needing a recharge after just 2 hours of use. The phone's 6GB of ram would have you believe that the phone should have had a stronger battery but the manufacturer only gave it a 3100 mAh battery. It's because of the short battery life span that I switched to a Motorola g7. With it's 5000 mAh battery, this phone really takes a beating; lasting me about 8 hours of continuous use before needing a recharge.
I didnt know it had the LG G7 Boombox feature. I still use my V20 for the DAC and wide angle. I'll wait for the V40. If it has a stupid notch, then the V35 it is.
The NIONX I know the hate for the notch is real, but when it comes to videos you won't even know it's there. It's blocked out & used like a second screen whether you block it out or not.
OfficiallyTwon When it comes to videos, fine. What about aesthetics. It's simply ulgy. Its literally their on most phones for no other reason than to copy a trend. At least with Apple (of which I'm not a fan) there was legitimate reason. Essential was simply trying something new, and I like their finished look. But Everybody else is doing just to be part of the "me too" crowd. They should be called sheep. Almost as bad as the lack of a headphone jack in so many devices.
The NIONX I agree. All I'm saying is the notch is literally unnoticeable most times on android devices. I made fun of Apple over the notch too(Rightfully so). I got the G7 more so out of brand loyalty but the iy is perfect for content creators & media consumers(Me). Phones that have a notch with big bezels or physical buttons on the front are the most useless. LG didn't need it but they did it the best. To each his own.
I still don't understand why people hate the notch like where are you going to put all the sensors at under the display that's impossible people are so ignorant
Dude! You're in Sparta! I spent all my summers growing up split between my grandparents home on Lake Mohawk and a YMCA camp outside Newton. Thanks for the quick ride down memory lane during your excellent review video!
this is literally the best notchless curveless phone ever made and no one is talking about it i have the v30 plus and knowing they will never make the same one with updated cpu+gpu it makes me want to cry.
Agreed! The edge detection was terrible! The entire review was overly positive of each feature of the phone and rarely criticized the device. I'm not implying the review was biased, but it clearly wasn't doing justice to the very real flaws that were displayed on the screen. There was even a moment as he described the performance of the transitions when the phone clearly lagged and stuttered. It makes the reviewer seem out of touch with reality.
OMG, and I thought I was the one trippin! VO: Animations are fluid, everything smooth. ME: Lags like hell, even glitches on the homescreen lol VO: Camera takes pictures with lots of detail: ME: Blown out highlights in every shot, oversharpening, noise reduction destroying every texture basically and blending everything together, oversaturated etc. VO: Beautiful screen. ME: The same was used on the Pixel2 and LG V30 and it wasn't beautiful at all... If this wasn't biased I don't now?!
This phone is great, even a year later, it has a decent price point but what is even better is how they were able to showcase the phone and hide the little booboo throughout this review. props to the editing and ideas on this video.
This V35 is near perfect. The only thing I see lacking is good external sound, it only has one downward facing speaker. The V40 looks incredible but its small battery worries me, and dang it might be a little too big. I'm also not liking that notch one bit.
My g3 was great for a couple of years but then the motherboard failed and died as most of the G3 out there. My G2 still working fine like my optimus 2x(the two best phones lg made when was one of the best companies
Well my g3 sucked. It had alot of oberheating and it wasnt good at playing games. G3 didnt even had bootloop which is amazing, the camera was poor, the performance in this year sucks and yeah i changed it to lg v35
I was going to go from my G5 to a Pixel 2 XL when the Pixel 3 drops and the prices fall, but after handling a V30, I might go that direction. If this phone drops enough after the V40 bows in, I might consider it instead. I refuse to use ThinQ. LG needs to get some non-Asian marketers to help them with names. What plays well in Korea or China may look a bit silly to the rest of the world.
the pixel 2 has horrible audio output so you dodge a bullet on that one. I'm looking forward to the v40 but unless it's leaps and bounds better then my v30 I'm not changing. It's a amazing phone even with the not so great front camera however the new AI does make the pictures a lot better then before.
I have a suggestion kid from a 70 YO white man. Keep checking the HSN & QVC websites for the model of LG / Tracfone they are recently selling and then quickly purchase and review those phones. Since Tracfone sells a huge number of phones at these 2 places, that would give you a much larger potential audience. Also look to see how many other people have already reviewed the phone in question before doing this. Regards WRZ 2020-06-24
The noise in the darker shots & the over saturation & jerkiness of the video recording puts me off. Its a nice looking phone though & one without those ugly notches that are so common now. I'd also prefer metal backed phones over glass as I don't care for wireless charging but nobody makes them anymore. I may instead opt for a Samsung S9 to upgrade from my S7 Edge.
+3165dwayne bro, if your V30 is lagging and my tech illiterate mum's G5 plus is smooth and snappy then i think there is something wrong with the phone and/or user. Factory reset, or unlock bootloader and get rid of bloatware. Those are both very easy to do.
+3165dwayne I was trying to help you out lad, but it seems you know everything. The tips i have mentioned actually works wonders across all androids and again, they are both very easy to do. I would like to add they require no root and provide fairly quick solutions. Literally 10 min is all you need. If you were actually somewhat android savy then running adb commands should be common knowledge and something you can do in your sleep. Stick with iphone. They are head over shoulders above stock android in terms of simplicity and fluidity. You say all LG phones lag despite LG being well known for having great optimization for their phones. Sure software is underwhelming but their devices are known to be fast and snappy even with weaker hardware. G1/G2/V10/V20/G6/V30/G7/V35 were all very well received devices across the tech community. Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean the rest of the consumers do.
just wait for the v40 in a couple of months. The G7 is nice however it doesn't have as many camera options as the v-line, plus not being to switch to wide angle while recording is a huge let down.
Tom Petty V35 has the same camera app as the G7, they're widdling it down. The only thing I miss is switching from stand lens to wide angle while filming.
I like this reviewer, he's more in depth than others and talks more about the stuff that matters. Good review and not many people know that most phones have compatibility with 2TB external
The problem with LG is the past issues of bootlooping and LG ignoring its customers. An angry customer can make a lot of noise. In addition, their marketing fails to reach people. Most people don't watch or read reviews so LG get underrated. So the plus side for people looking for a solid phone with great specs for a great price reduction. I do no know how sustainable their models for smartphones are because without looking at sales numbers LG doesn't seem to be selling a whole lot of smartphones at those release prices which should be hurting their bottom line. I won't be surprised if LG pulls out of the high end flagship smartphone market in the near future. Look at how much Nokia has fallen when a few generations ago Nokia was thought of as the king of mobile phones. I guess that's what makes the open market so interesting. Let the companies fight and hopefully that brings competive pricing and innovation for the consumer market.
From my own experience in three years spent working security and assisting in sales for a nationally well known USA "Tech Retail Box Store" I can say that in no way, from what I have personally witnessed, does LG ignore its customers. We constantly had an LG rep "in store" to address any customer questions or issues with any of their products. I do agree that LG is highly underrated. And if people don't take the time to research products and reviews, then the blame is on them and not the company. From what I saw daily, I will say that in my own personal opinion I think that all LG products are top tier and highly competitive with the more "popular company brands". I think in no way can you constructively compare Nokia to LG, and I have high doubts that LG will pull out of the flagship smartphone market when they have a product that is on the same level as other flagship companies. Nokia was too "one-dimensional" with their company vision and unable to stand up to a highly competitive market. LG isn't, and can.
LG phone is great, But battery is always smaller than average, and software update is SLOW in general. I was a LG fan for G5, but got turn off with LG g6's battery performance after Oreo update.
This phone, in my testing vs v30, is a step back on the camera side. Returned 2 units to Amazon thinking the first one was broken. Inconsistent hdr, all cameras overexposed, lack of shadow detail, poor color reproduction, lack of overall detail, etc. Wait for the v40 folks.
V35 is a fantastic phone held back by a nonsensical price tag. I mean $900 for probably the most versatile smartphone hard ware but obivously LG hasn't quite worked up to that rep in this industry to be charging that much for a smartphone lol. Its really a shame because this is an absolutely fantastic phone. I don't like the software and the bloatware is a bit of a limiting factor, but optimizaiton is better than most other phones and that quad dac is unbeatable. But no way i would pay anymore than $750 for this lol. And thats being generous since i know how great the phone really is. Most people wont bat an eye towards LG flagships if its more than $600
That's 100% true, I had a used V30, a G7 and now a V35, honestly, the V30 is 90% of the V35. The G7 was great but i prefer OLED since I rarely use the phone in the day. I work nights so having OLED makes more sense. G7 superior audio, brighter display, black level is so so. V35 display is amazing in HDR with better black level, more multitasking friendly with extra ram
Yes! Just bought one brand new (or rather opened box) for 300 off of eBay. Its basically the V40 without the telephoto lens (same Ram and processor too), which is nice but not needed. I say yes!
in my country LG stop importing mobile phone, they're not doing so well. samsung and iphone are dominating here. but they doing pretty good with their TV and other home appliances
How could I turn off that "all device search" option I don't like the idea of someone being able to see all my pictures at the swipe of a screen. I've tried everything I know how to to clear the images off of that screen and I can't do it I'm about ready to factory reset this bullshit.
