I don't completely understand the difference between the Sanitary and the Allergiene cycles. What does each one NOT do that the other one DOES do?

Sanitary cycle engages the heating element to heat the water above 140f.

The sanitary cycle has extra hot water and the allergiene cycle uses steam

This says "in conjunction with bleach". I don't want to use bleach while washing colored clothes. Will the sanitary cycle not work to sanitize colors without bleach? I'm using it solely for killing viruses, which I think just the very hot water involved int he sanitary cycle will do. Couldn't I just use oxiclean instead of bleach? Thanks!

It works. Color safe bleach (powder) actually sanitizes fabrics as well but does lose effectiveness the longer it sits so adding this to your cycle will increase disinfection effects.

From www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/cycles-front-load-washer-CT00000305-1337797444134: The ALLERGIENE™ cycle uses the intense heat of steam to remove over 95% of common household allergens, like dust mites and pet dander. Use this cycle to wash cloths that accumulate dust-like pillow covers, and bed sheets-or with items that deserve special care-like baby clothes and undergarments. The approximate cycle time is 113 minutes, which will vary based on soil level, load size, and options selected. Each cycle defaults to a predetermined optimum soil level and spin speed. Not all cycle modifications and options are available on all cycles. Refer to the owner's manual for the Cycle Guide for the model in question. The SANITARY cycle uses extreme temperature changes-extra hot during the wash, cold during the rinse-to clean the dirtiest clothing items in the house. This wash cycle reduces 99.9% bacteria on laundry through the high temperatures. The default wash/rinse temperature is Extra Hot/Cold with the wash temperature being approximately 158°F. The approximate cycle time is 105 minutes, which will vary based on soil level, load size, and options selected. Each cycle defaults to a predetermined optimum soil level and spin speed. Not all cycle modifications and options are available on all cycles. Refer to the owner's manual for the Cycle Guide for the model in question.

Q - If I download the eco sanitary cycle do I have to keep downloading it every load and also use the app or does it stay programmed in the machine to press the downloaded option? I want a hot and short cycle, not 2 hours (what's already in the machine). If this downloaded cycle doesn't stick I'll have to use the allergenic cycle, stop it in the middle, then set the rinse cycle. This is super annoying. I love the machine but now I have to rewash my sheets as they were done in regular and I wash them in hot. And I need a spare 2 hours. You should never over-regulate and bind your users. They know what they need and machines need to adapt. It's like automating flying. Pilots know how to fly planes. And now we have to prepare to pull fuses to disable functions gone haywire to do what we know how to do.
