Wow. I'm impressed. Not happy that you cannot select 'hot', though the 2 rinses were a nice surprise.

I did a few AI Wash cycles and I am puzzled. I put one with clothes I would consider "soiled" and after washing for about 10 mins, it started rinsing. Another load, I thought clean, sensed the soil level twice (as usual), and added 15 mins and some more detergent. Then rinsed 4x instead of 1x. I guess the clothes were making suds. But surely I didn't think they were that soiled and needed that much rinsing...

If I put a single towel in a load like the one you put in this video, my GE GFW650 will either not spin, or take FOREVER to spin (while hearing the groaning and noisy pump all the time, pumping nothing...). I don't know (since you cut the video) how long it took it to decide it could spin, but in the end it does it, and *quietly*. The "jets" of the TurboWash seem to be not very powerful or that strong. Is that by design? The LG documentation always shows these impressive sprays... Based on what I am seeing and hearing in your videos I think this LG WM6700 is going to be my GE replacement. I do want the auto dispenser, so this is the one. And I want the soil level detection, so not the WM5700 (even though I don't really need the extra 0.5cu ft volume).

Thank you for the video!! With your experience with LG… If you had to choose today between the LGWM4000 ,LGWM5500, LGWM6700 which model would you go with? I love the look of the LGWM5500 & LGWM6700 however the LGWM4000 has most of the options of the newer models if I’m not mistaken (minus a few wash cycles and drum light with the old school look & internal hot water heater). Would greatly appreciate your opinion. Thanks again for sharing!

Hi, thank you for the good question! I personally would choose WM5500 as they are cheaper and has the same ai intelligence and higher end built except the auto dispense with 6700HBA. So if auto dose isn't a must you can definitely go with the other 2 options they all are great

An idea: Buy one of those cheap magnetic sewing lamps instead of using the washer light when you make videos....I've seen other videos do that and the lighting is usually just as good as the drum light.... About this washer... Can you explain to me (if you have time) do you go buy washers just to test them and return them? I really like this washer too...I like the way the Samsung FL'ers wash too but I'm terrified of Samsung as a brand for reliability

samsung does suck with reliability in all parts of the machine. I have had a washer and dryer set and tv from them. bought in 2016. february 2020: dryer stopped heating and made a squealing sound. spent $300 repairing. sometime in 2021: tv (2011 made tv) literally melted. february 2022: dryer starts squealing AGAIN. we replaced it after this with an lg. march 2023: washers bearings start to fail and pump starts making tons of weird noises, and rusted the entire frame out. replaced that with the matching washer to our lg dryer.

Does it not tell you the temp? 20, 30, 40, 50, 60° it just says words like warm hot etc. Also does it tell you the speed? 800, 1200, 1400, 1600 etc.
@nihilnobody3011
@nihilnobody3011 3 месяца назад
All US/Canadian sold washing machines do not show a temperature in C (or even in F! ;) ) - it is just non-specific tags like hot, cold, warm, etc. Whatever that means in reality depending on what temperature the water is when it is loaded by the washing machine. If the washing machine has an internal heater (not always the case!) and/or ATC (automatic temperature control feature - not always the case!) then it can adjust the water temperature after it loads hot/cold water, either by mixing more/less hot/cold water to achieve the temperature the manufacture defined to be "hot" / "cold" / "warm". Extra hot, is usually only achieved using the internal water heater. Because of the 110V supply, none of the washing machines sold here can heat up water from cold to, e.g., 60C. I had to ask GE what was the temperature they programmed the washing machine to be at, e.g., "warm" - it is 30C. So, in the end, I had to ask what each temperature label really meant, as it is not written anywhere on the documentation. For the GE I have (GFW650) cold is 20C, warm is 30C, hot is 40C and extra hot is 60C. I needed to ask as I am from Europe and I am used to select the exact temperature I want (and the washing machine has the 240V and the design to reach that temperature - that is also why EU cycles are longer than US/CA washing non-cold cycles, as there is no water to be heated). And also because several pieces of clothing show a temperature you need to wash at, not just an un-specificied "cold", "warm", etc. The same goes with the spin speed: there is no way of knowing what the spin speed is, other than the max one. The rest is labeled with a non-specific "low" "fast" etc. type of label. So what "fast" means, is not an absolute number, but it is determined by the manufacturer. What is fast for GE, might be slow for LG and so on. I guess they have decided a long time ago, that specifics in temps and spinning speeds were of no concern to those doing laundry in these countries... One could also argue that knowing the exact temp and spin speed still is not going to help much, if those settings are not going to get your stuff any cleaner. Of course, somewhere there have to be standards, because if GE decides that cold means 50C and I put something that will get "destroyed" when washed at that temp, that could mean a lawsuit. But I never found a standard that defines what "cold" "warm" and "hot" means. Each manufacturers does what it wants. And if your "hot" water connection is not high enough or doesn't reach the temp fast enough, with a machine that cannot compensate, you might as well was everything at "tap cold" (also a setting on some machines...).
@StijnNLDutch
@StijnNLDutch 3 месяца назад
@@nihilnobody3011but does the hot water enter the machine directly? Cause as you might know here in the eu, the boiler has to first warm up, so cold water enters the machine first. So us machines don’t have heaters? How do their dryers work then?
@nihilnobody3011
@nihilnobody3011 3 месяца назад
@@StijnNLDutch All washing machines sold in the USA have a hot water connection that you must use. Because they are all 110V, they cannot heat a full load of water up to 40C or even 60C. Some have a small water heater that is enough to boost the temp from 50C (usually) from your hot water line to 60C for the "extra hot" setting, or have a steam cycle. Dryers are available in all possible options. There are gas dryers (!!), vented and ventless (condenser) dryers, and as of recent a few models of heat pump dryers are showing up. I am planning of getting an LG heat pump dryer as it matches the size of the washing machine. There have been some heat pump dryers available from LG, Bosch and Miele, but are quite small vs the average washing machine. Because electricity here is relatively cheap, there is no economical advantage really to use a heat pump dryer. Plus there is the "inconvenience" to have to wait more than the usual 30-40 mins the very energy hungry low-tech counterparts do. The current vented air dryer I own, can pull up to 6kW max. But I pay $0.15/kWh....

How is it an AI cycle if you are choosing water temp, soap amount, spin level etc? Am I not understanding? I thought AI would do all of that for you.
@washertester4296
@washertester4296 8 месяцев назад
Hi, thanks for the comment! AI only stands for to choose what type of wash profile washer needs to follow. For example, if you load some delicate clothing it will perform slower, if you have towels, much faster etc
@nihilnobody3011
@nihilnobody3011 3 месяца назад
@@washertester4296 And also, as you can see in the video, if during the wash the soil level ends up being higher/lower, it will adapt by increasing or reducing the cycle. As for the temp, I think what one sets, is the max it can go for that load, but the AI can always choose a lower temp. I miss my "Auto 40C" cycle on my EU Siemens washing machine!
