BL and GL romance manga is always printed in BL and GL magazines in japan. What makes me so happy about My Love Mix Up! is that it's not being printed in a BL magazine but a shoujo magazine called Bessatsu margaret. I didn't really think we'd see something like this happen any time soon seeing as until now japan has been p insistent on separating LGBTQ romances from hetero romances. I'm glad Viz picked it up and also published it under their shoujo line.
Yes!!! i was also very happy to see it in the shojo beat line but that is what had me a little confused at first, i thought "no way is this going to go down the bl route" until i started seeing clips from the drama and i was like ???? ok work ,, really excited to read more of it
@@tsukkinotes I was so surprised when I first read the manga online a bit over a year ago lol didn't expect it to go down the BL route at all ! it's at 7 volumes now in japan and I buy the Japanese chapters every month because I love it so much. It's such a wholesome manga and I adore all the characters! really hope lots of people enjoy it though I'm fairly confident people will.
To add onto your list I really recommend “How do we relationship?” it’s viz gl series about these two girls in college who try to figure out what it means to be in a relationship. i’m not good at descriptions but I promise it’s really good! :)
This is a really solid list! I’ve read the majority of them and the ones I haven’t are on my tbr. Some other ones I would recommend are My Brother’s Husband, After Hours (yuri), and Our Dining Table (BL).

Sasaki and Miyano is literally one of my favourite BL’s. Even though it has a pretty basic story line I’m still in love with their relationship and the side characters!! I would definitely love to see them grow their relationship even more outside of high school. The art is also a Bonus :D
i was hard on it in the beginning because i always tend to look for a "deeper" meaning to stories but like you said it's cute and fluffy and that is enough sometimes so i am definitely enjoying it now that i just ... let myself enjoy the fluff lol
as a bi manga reader, im shocked it’s taken me 10+ years of reading manga casually to get into lgbtq+ manga, but this video came at such a lovely time! given was one of my first experiences of bl manga and i was obsessed, im currently getting our dining table for christmas and i was debating picking up my love mix up at my local bookstore but this video has made me decide to buy it! i will make sure to add any others to my growing list of manga to check out. thank you for this video!

I have Bloom into you and I love this series, I definitely recommend it. There are only 8 volumes and a short novel series (3 volumes) about Saeki Sayaka 😁

Recently a BL manga I read was Katakoi Lamp. It's a single, standalone volume that's typically just a casual little cliche coffee shop story with your classic love triangle/square and sprinkled misunderstandings tropes but for a quick little read, it was really nice! Did involve two sexual scenes though but other than that just mostly fluff, not intense drama and whatnot

I'm interested in picking up the newly released one-shot Boy Meets Maria, heard a lot of great comments about it (the cover art also looks pretty gorgeous)! Some series that caught my eye are Bloom into You, Classmates, series by Nagata Kabi and 19 days, those would be a nice start for checking out more lbgtq+ titles. Also, thanks for the reminder about the new given OVA, totally missed, that it's already out! :)
i'm mentally preparing myself to read boy meets maria but i've also heard really good things about it,, and yes! highly recommend all those, the classmates movie is really good as well and i think the bloom into you anime covers like half the manga if you want to get a taste of the series that way! and idk if the given ova is out on crunchyroll but i've seen screenshots and such floating around so i think it came out??

I know what you mean about not liking drama. Tension is good, but constant drama in a romance series will stress my heart lol. I Think Our Son is Gay & Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon are two I have my eye on. Have you heard of My Androgynous Boyfriend? It looks really sweet and I think there are 3 volumes out.
Yes omg i actually just read the first volume of my androgynous boyfriend yesterday! it's not lgbt+ though, the main character is a straight man who just likes fashion and makeup, people do mistake him as gay or a woman though but it's very clear about his identity in like the first couple pages, really cute romance series so far though!

I recommend otouto no Otto. It is a manga about a dad and his daughter and brother in-law. The dad’s brother passed away, and his brother’s husband came to visit them in Japan. It’s about the dad learning to accept his brother in law as part of his family. Though there is no romance between them, it still is wholesome and teaches about lgbt things that aren’t often talked about.

The next volume of A White Rose in Bloom is supposed to release in February... let's hope lol. It seriously has been forever since vol 1's release, but I'm looking forward to it!!

honestly i don't read a ton of bl so i'm probably not the best one to ask for recommendations but adding onto the ones i mentioned in this video like classmates and sasaki and miyano i can recommend the one shots our dining table and the two lions, for something longer i'm enjoying cherry magic which has 3 volumes so far :)

i'm glad you enjoyed it!! and do you want another girl's love series or just any drama romance coming-of-age type story? from the titles i mentioned in this video i think the most similar may be classmates (bl) or blue flag (lgbt+ romance) but for general romance series these may be a stretch but for coming-of-age kimi ni todoke is very good (long though, shojo) and if you want more drama paradise kiss (josei), and for more gl titles i enjoy my favorite is the kase-san series which i mentioned in this video, it is much more light hearted though, a recent read i've enjoyed is how do we relationship? (more drama) and i haven't read this one in a very long time so i'm not sure if my opinion will be different if i reread it but Aoi Hana is one with similar vibes to bloom into you i think they also put on a play in that one even (hopefully this makes sense)

i recently got volume 2 from barnes & noble but it was out of stock prior for months so honestly i have no idea when they will be back in stock but it'll happen eventually, covid, paper shortage, etc many series are out of stock rn unfortunately TT i wouldn't be surprised if most the series on this list were unavailable rn
