I got some books from the library with my kids, they chose one called Welcome to the Family. My 10 year old daughter who consumes books brought it to me and said we can't read this because they talk about a family having 2 dads. I snatched the book and wanted to burn it 😂 but was so proud of her for immediately red flagging it for her little brother 💪 Scary times we're living in

Two people that embody the Sunnah. Tom's ability to be the unapologetic theory guy and then be the most warm and humble teacher in a FREE Arabic class...Shadees dedication to sitting with the youth and us mere mortal Muslims untangling profound knowledge so that we can digest it without ever being condescending. These two have a special place in my heart and In'sha'Allah in Jannah tul Firdous. May all their efforts way heavy on their scale 🤲

Is this penguin book everywhere? We picked the same from a library here in France a couple of years ago. I was lucky to be the one reading it to the children and had to change what I was reading while I was reading it! We are very careful since.

Thank you for this discussion! In nyc there are several Islamic schools but all were full and it’s been frustrating to get my daughter in. SubhanAllah even the hifiz programs are all full! I will keep trying but Alhumdulliah they have lots of weekend schools and summer camps that we will do in the meantime. Love your work ❤

I have experienced a. Getting hired by a library because they could tick the diversity box and then all they do is ask me about homosexuality for 9 months b. Not passing probation Then my wife wants divorce cause I lose my job. She thinks I am making this up. Astugfirillah Now as a school teacher, I get support from the conservative Christian’s because I am the only one who can articulate virtue and ethics (because Christian’s have lost this ability)

Amazing podcast! Yes, why are we so “molested” to want to study under the haters of Islam? Why do we suffer from Stockholm syndrom? He is completely right.

At 7:20 Imam Tom mentioned that now there is an awareness and push back. I find this statement to be really ironic. Muslims from predominately black communities were warning the greater community about this stuff decades ago. Hamza Yusuf warned the community in 2016 only to then be attacked for calling it out. Imam Zaid did the same thing around the same time. Why is it that when prominent scholars warned the community years ago no one listened.

Beautiful discussion. I have a lot of respect for Tom Facchine,. This is 1 pollution that we cannot afford to leak into an Islamic institution (you know which one i referring) that is highly regarded. As you said the benefit of this alliance is pointless compared to the downfall in eye of Allah.

I was thinking about pulling my kids out of private Islamic school because I was having mixed feelings about the quality, but you gave me a new perspective, that school serves a far bigger purpose to our community.

I had to build up my own bookshelf for my children to choose their reading material from, not only for reading and comprehension, and recreational activity, but for school novel studies, (book reports), because almost everything is disgusting now. The hard porn and rape porn in novels alone is overwhelming, and now its being innundated with gay porn and, boy-rape porn, (for example, every high school student in Ontario has to read The Kite Runner). Not my kids. I fought every single school and every single English literature teacher to allow me to choose their novel studies books due to this particular book, ( none of the alternative choices they offered were aporopriate either). One even tried to intimidate my husband, saying he is only objecting to The Kite Runner because he is a Taliban supporter! I ripped a verbal slice off the Vice Principal when my husband came home and told me the teacher refused accomodation based in that argument. She pretended she didn't know the content when I told her what was so offensive, and granted accomodation. You HAVE to fight for your children! They have declared war on them.

The topic on neighborhoods is definitely real! There's more developments happening in my area (on the east coast) with Muslim neighborhoods next to Masjids Alhamdulillah but they're expensive right now

I remember, as a visible Muslim student at a big university in the Midwest, attending a program for religious studies majors and being openly insulted in front of everyone and Islam denigrated by a professor: “Islam is pretty simplistic isn’t it?” and I could feel the snickering of these atheist religious studies majors sitting all around me. Ended up changing majors. Sometimes it’s not worth it to stay.

Just how people form around the world used to and still now send their children usa for higher education Now time has changed i don't know about everybody but Muslim communities need to (no "have to") send their kids to Muslim countries for their elementary, junior and higher school education at least Otherwise you won't be able to protect your children from them You will guide your children at home but you can't at school remember school of kids are their first and biggest target May Allah protect us and our upcoming generation

There's a lot of truth that being with the likes of Prophet SAW is much better than with having and reading a lot of books which meant the continuing pursuit of education and learning. Unfortunately there will never be anyone like Rasulullah SAW to closely follow and emulate with the knowledge that Rasulullah SAW is maksum and always in the guidance of Allah SWT. The issue is there is not one person that we could be certain of. We are told to hold on the Quran and Sunnah which meant having books to read and the continuing pursuit of knowledge and truth. I stopped trusting the government less and started homeschooling my kids here in Canada. Like you guys mentioned, here in Canada it’s getting worse by the day, soon we’ll be like sodom and gomorra and Allah punishment may come down, insha allah not soon and not for the victims.

Two of the sincere brethren… may Allah preserve you both… Asalamulaikum warahmatullah… let me give you a heads up on starting your own community, the brothers acted on this model outside of Fresno CA 20 or 30 years ago… of course not long after they started to build up their numbers with multiple families purchasing land and building homes, the FBI began to apply pressure… after making the peoples lives hard for some years the community lost momentum and only a solid group of the elders stayed… most of the kids moved back to the cities… also the city government subsidized the land for a Christian organization to buy a big swath of the land around them for purposes of a retreat… I heard the Muslims of America in South Carolina and New York State are strong in numbers… and I know the Osmanli Dergah is in New York State but I don’t think they are establishing families it’s more of a retreat… that being said there are some models and it has been a reality since the 80s so if you are trying to disconnect from the secular lifestyle it maybe a good idea to find out how it’s working or didn’t work for those communities!

Homeschool networks and networking would be a great idea. Islamic schools would be a must now a days, rather a necessity in the west !

I don't see as a Muslim our Muslim women are educated in Islamic behavior! I'm seeing women gather to chatt and their kids are misbehaving a lot how Muslim community needs to fix that! And when they are living next to each other they are bringing some negative habits with them. I'm just asking to look for sulutions.

This sounds like utopia and it would be great if this could happen. There are places like that in Canada. Communities that are largely Muslim, where most of the kids in public school are Muslim, the restaurants, stores etc. But the problem is that most of these Muslims are just wannabe white Canadians. They want to keep parts of their culture like the food, the weddings etc but not much day to day. They all do halloween, Christmas, etc. Most of them think that sticking with lgtb and liberals will improve things for them so they will not speak against it. I've seen these areas and felt like it's better to be in a place where you're the only Muslim and it's easy for your kids to understand that this is us vs. this is them. But having tons of Muslims that are doing all the wrong things is a lot more confusing. That's why I think there will always be trying to establish these little communities in non Muslim countries. Work instead to improve Muslim countries and to remove the crippling effects that the Western countries have on them to prevent them from succeeding. Effects that continue to be helped along by Muslims living in the west paying taxes, improving economies and giving away their children and future generations to non Muslim countries.

The best books are classics. Fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson and Grimms, Aesop's fables, things like Peter Rabbit or Roald Dahl books. Any of this new stuff is trash. Not even good English.
