I got to meet John St Jon at a local con earlier this year, he did mention about this game used to be a Duke Nukem game and recorded lines for it. But since it was changed to Bombshell, he did say he is now the villain of Bombshell so you still get some Duke in this game ;)
Ah. Still cool none the less. I actually have to find out if he's still the voice. (He better be.) The villain talking at the end of the more recent trailer sounds a lot different, and I can't tell if they just had Jon go again in a different direction or if it's another character or what. But again, Jon better still be in this.
***** All good brother. Some of John's other works (thats not Big the Cat) sounds abit like Duke Nukem. If you ever played Starwinder for PSX (one of his 1st games he did) the VO for his character in the game still has a little Duke in it. So I might imagine a more sinister sounding Duke like voice for Bombshell.
I would rather play the first Postal than Hatred. At least Postal succeeds at being funny at some point in time. Hatred is like "okay, let's take Nathan Explosion from Metalocalypse, turn him into a despondent teenager and suck out the rest of his personality and just have him kill people...because reasons!"
I seriously want a build engine prequel so we get her origin story but also don't have to have that bog down 'her' game. Would be great if Eduke supported this or some other spinoff from build but I dunno if those engines require the duke assets or you could theoretically do your own thing.
I just have to reiterate because I've said it before: you are by far my favorite youtuber/media personality/budding journalist. I think this is because you are just you; you are zen. Thank you. When I am less of a severely poor student I will contribute.
I gotta admit I'm abit disappointed that it isnt going to be first person, although I am glad to see that its still in production as I remember seeing the first trailer and then POOF, no mention of it since then till I decided to check up on your channel again. I must ask though any proper soundclips or video footage of her voice, as I am curious who's going to be voicing her, and what of the duke nukem side of things at 2K, is anything going on there?
Don't sweat it, LGR; knowledge of the Build Engine prequel demo has already been on the Internet for a month or so. I think you're in the clear to mention it. Still oddly more psyched for that than the actual game.
+Shadow Hog Oh good, I hadn't heard about it! And yeah, I can't wait for the Build Engine game, haha. I wonder if it'll be a free thing or an extra with Bombshell.
+Lazy Game Reviews I believe I'd heard it was supposed to be a free shareware deal - although at the same time, I say "shareware", but I seriously doubt that they're doing more than the one episode. (I hope I'm wrong, because a full new retro FPS would be very exciting.)
A bit off topic, have you ever heard of Retro City Rampage? If you own the PC version, there are several DOS versions, most notably a floppy image, of the game "hidden" in the game folder. I tried it and it's pretty damn great. It's almost exactly the same game except... DOS-y. Anyways, I recommend it, if you haven't heard about it already.
+Lazy Game Reviews Cool. I do live in Greece (hi from here ( ^o^)/ ) and it has the same box, but I know some guys who did get a special boxed version from Kickstarter. Personally, I didn't like it much in the end, Part 1 was good but Part 2 was a huuuuuuuuuuge letdown. But, having your game signed by the makers is always awesome. :D
LGR, first I love your videos, this one included. Second, have you heard of a game called Big Pharma? It reminds me very much of Theme Hospital, at least in the aesthetics department. It almost looks like a clone (it seems to be heavily influenced by the look of Theme Hospital at the very least). The main difference is that instead of running a hospital, you run a pharmaceutical company. It's on Steam and has very positive feedback. Thought you might want to take a look at it.
Looks good, and I'll be sure to give it a shot when it goes on a STEAM sale, as I already have so many damn games to get caught back up on, and no time to really play them these days.
Ehhh...She looks cool and its awesome that its 3D realms again but I dunno. I'm not really into twin stick shooters at all and I think I would have been way more into this game had it been a different type of action game. Ether way, ill keep my eye on this one and if its for the right price ill give it a try regardless.
I liked the new Rise of the Triad, except they had serious memory management issues. Even now they have problems with rain causing lag despite a dozen updates.
Since there's still a large niche that plays 2.5D shooters, what's stopping someone from making a new commercial Build engine game? Other newly released retro styled games are a dime a dozen, but no devs ever revisit that era of FPSes. Imagine that. A new, never before played Build game that isn't Duke or Blood. Or maybe the reason why nobody does this is that the likes of Duke, Blood, Doom, etc, was a case of lighting strikes. The right people, the right time, and now that kind of talent is lost to antiquity.
"Rise of the Triad was kind of not great in terms of optimization." You said that wrong, I think you meant to say "Rise of the Triad was kind of not great at all.".
+Zack Knight of the Jesuit Order Sure, it wasn't "great" but it wasn't exactly bad either, in my opinion. I still enjoyed its absurdity for what it was, being a faithful throwback to the original ROTT which is a favorite of mine. But the bad performance killed it for me and I was never able to finish it, even with the patches.
hmmmm signs of instability and promises of cool features? sorry to say it, but in the culture of pc gaming they flat out LIE and SCAM so much it makes console developers seem like saints by comparison. I get the sneaky suspicion when told that i am trying out a "beta" or "demo" pc game that its really whats going to be seen in retail. I hope u and duke nukem/bombshell fans get a cool game; just don't be surprised if its a mess. Promises of cool features in the future from pc gaming has lost all meaning to me, i lost count how many times they fail to deliver on what they say. please don't take this comment as anything negative about your channel...your show is great!
Engine optimization? They probably had super computers at PAX. A lot of Unreal games have been playing like ass. MKX and Arkham Knight are both Unreal Engine and both have had a lot of complaints.
+EpiquestGame I don't know about MKX, but if I remember correctly, the PC version of Arkham Knight sucked because they hired a studio that didn't know how to port the game properly, not because of the engine. The Unreal 4 engine itself is designed to run well on nearly every single device that can display graphics, play sound and has input capabilities. If a developer rewrites or doesn't use half of the built-in cross-platform capabilities, it's the devs' fault, not the engine.
Niko Obermayr Funny thing is Unreal engine almost ports itself. Its just weird to blame another company. It played fine for me until the driving. Like the previous poster said, both games use modified Unreal 3s and both games have licenses with Warner Brothers that owns or is affiliated with DC. Unreal 4 is a beast. Even lesser games can be a burden without a quad core processor. I can play Skyrim with max settings on my dual core, but not any Unreal games. The games play fine on my quad core i-7 G4 though.
