I miss calming tv shows like this on PBS when I was a kid. Always made me want to eventually work outdoors and in nature. Of course I'm currently couped up in a cold office building, but hopefully one day I'll get to work in nature in an enjoyable and relaxing setting.

Now, I feel old. Our local PBS showed this in a block with This Old House, Woodwrite Shop, New Yankee Workshop and other misc home improvement shows of the time on Sunday afternoon into the evening. We use to watch it as a family.

I remember some of those shows, along with Hometime, Gourmet Cooking, The Frugal Gourmet, The Joy of Painting, and Louisiana Cooking. My parents often had those shows on as background noise while they read, although I think they watched some of those shows attentively. I'd watch them for a bit, then go off to my room to play or go outside and play. I also remember listening to A Prairie Home Companion when it used to air on the local NPR station every Saturday night. We mainly listened to it in the Fall and Winter. It felt more like a cold weather show.

I grew up watching The Victory Garden with Roger Swain. I sure miss him. I really appreciate being able to binge watch him on utube when I get the gardening bug. Especially in spring, or in the middle of winter during a snow storm. He is like comfort food for the soul. 🕊️🙏💖💯🐝🐝🐝👍👍

Does anyone recognize a young Roger Cook from This Old House as the landscaper? I could spot the mustache or the accent from a mile away.

Another great PBS show gone and replaced with politics and anything anti-white. Sad.

RU-vid should ban videos with built in ads. I pay for Premium to avoid ads and here I'm subjected to that crass commercial crap. Thumbs down.

Seems very wasteful to just toss cucumbers that are "too big" on the compost heap.
@lisat9322

Other than the actual seeds, I think compost is the most important ingredient of a rich, fertile soil and healthy productive plants.

Big cucumbers are bitter tasting. Agree it would be better to pick them when the right size and make pickles or something.

Yeah it is wasteful. You could make tabbouli or fattoush with them sliced or diced up. And he should grow English cucumbers, which are incredible even at their largest.

@@29sentz he's returning all the minerals back to the soil. It's not waste. It's all part of the loop.
