God speaks to me so many times through this old show. So many life lessons for us today. The Lord speaks if we are willing to listen. Charles told Albert in one episode I love you son, I heard the Lord say I love you my daughter. Just good clean tv, nobody being politically correct, or unpolitically correct.
Sadly, liberals are taking shows like this off the air along with Dukes of Hazzard not seen because of a STUPID FLAG, BIG WHOOP> Is the same thing said about Dr. David Banner's jolly green Hulk creature?

I wish I could have understood my kids better and explained things as well with so much understanding. These episodes should be prescribed like a tonic for all children and all parents! I know my family would have benefited when my 3 boys were younger.
@dars2607 You are right about them being wrong but I think Johnathan is humoring Laura. And plus I think he's stalling so that way Charles and Mr. Edwars can find Laura. God knew where Laura was and was trying to show Charles and Mr. Edwards the way so he sent Johnathan to protect Laura teach her life's lessons in the mean time.

@joyfulhelpmeet I agree with you - drastic underestimation of who the One true God is. When you say "LHOTP you can do better" - there is nothing that even compares with that show today with moral standards/God. So a little slap on the wrist to LHOTP then, and a big kick in the ass for today's programming (along with a bottle of syrup of ipecac).
To anybody branding this episode as inappropriate due to your religion or the scenes between Laura and Jonathan, GET A FREAKING LIFE! Go look at the Waltons. No wait, you were probably the ones that wanted that show off the air as well because you got such a fetish to the liberals that live the life of Scrooge to the fullest with no humor. There was nothing wrong with this episode. It's called if you don't like it, don't watch it, press the finger on your little remote to change the channel like I DO! I also feel this was both the precursor to Highway to Heaven and also Touched by an Angel: Monica, Tess, Andrew, Rafael, and then Gloria that walked the Earth.

How do you know for certain, have you met Him? He's omnipotent, he take a nap if He wants to, He can do whatever he wants. It is not for you to question the ways of the Lord. ;) Saying all that, I'm an Atheist so all Bible jabber is utter bunkum to me.
As much as i like this show, this episode is really upsetting me. I dont appreciate my God being portrayed as an impotent man who is tired and run ragged trying to "keep up" with every ones requests. sigh. LHOP you can do better
You REALLY missed the point of why Jonathan was saying that to Laura. Jonathan was an angel - he knew God wasn't tired. But he also knew to teach a young child on their level - especially one who is distraught with remorse for her mean thoughts. He needed her to be patient, and stay safe in his care, until her father could locate her. I watched this as an 8-year-old, when it originally aired. And even back then I understood that God wasn't really tired or busy, that Jonathan was just telling her that so she'd wait.
Michael Landon researched everything he ever did. So most likely that was common language towards children per that time period. He never cut corners per every actor interviewed that I ever saw.
