I like this reporter. He actually allowed Li Cunxin to speak freely.

Never mind his mum and dad sobbing ! The most beautifully moving thing i have ever seen !To how far that 11yr old boy rose from such abject poverty-stricken circumstances to become a world class top ballet dancer!

I was fortunate to meet Li and hear his amazing story when Gailene Stock invited him to speak to the students at the Royal Ballet School

His story makes me cry 😭 all the time. I cried when I read the book, I cried when I watched the movie and I cried when I saw him speak in this interview.

I am so impressed by this interview. I saw the movie when it first came out and later bought the dvd. A week ago I rewatched the dvd and decided to look up Li Cunxin on line. This is most inspiring. I am so impressed with his mastery of the English Language, were I to be able to speak Mandarin as fluently it would be amazing. Thank you for posting this video!!

LI enjoy your sharing. However I was disappointed that you never mentioned your dear wife who undoubtedly plays a critical role to help you settle in a western culture. Remember this

He did repeatedly mention Mary in the telling of his families story.

This Li guy would be nobody and would be like his peasant siblings in the poor village without support and education by the Chinese government. China could produce many superb ballet dancers just like Li.

Meanwhile, a whole lot of more Li's have been wasted by this regime.

@@fargr5926 I think the regime used him for their own purpose....the money he earned it was given to the regime...although his family was poor......

You are kidding surely ! Before the western world embraced his genius he was living without hope ..It took the west to recognise what mastery he has to offer .Kudos to the then Vice President BUSH and Mrs President Bush for virtually stopping him being returned to China and an unknown fate .
