There's a sweetness to his voice here that's way different to his legendary on stage power voice. I love both tbh. For anyone who's unaware this is about Lee Mavers, the infamous front-man of "the La's" a Liverpudlian band from the late 80s who have been cited by Noel and Liam as influences. Mavers was a notorious perfectionist recording many different versions of the debut with different producers before the label released the last attempt. Mavers then mounted a public campaign of distaste of the eventual debut despite it being lauded publicly and commercially. The band subsequently broke up and Mavers distanced himself from the public eye. Many like myself look at, despite Mavers disdain, an excellent debut album and a huge back catalogue of unfinished/unreleased demos and wonder what could have been.
