Lovely playing. Mile buiochas. As for the discussion above. There's a need for both slow and fast playing. Dancers do indeed often want speed, but listening requires slow playing. That's why here we have both. Also these players are playing fast on reel but managing to play each note clearly also. So they can do it. As long as every note is important the speed is less important I think.

It's a baritone or possibly bass concertina, Cormac is known for playing these types of concertinas regularly :)

Brilliant musicianship, but Irish music needs to slow down again. Non musicians prefer a slower pace. And how could you dance at that speed?

There is no doubt in my mind that the drive to play ever faster in recent decades takes away from Irish music. I speak as a person who remembers the 60's when Irish music was frowned upon. There is skill also in allowing the best of a tune to be heard and not simply to see the skill in super-rapid playing

Trad has always been played quickly depending on the context. To claim that’s it’s been sped up in recent decades is hogwash. Listen to John Doherty or De Dannan in live settings. And these tunes are about energy and ebb and flow, not speed….listen again. These are two virtuosos playing together in an empty theater. It’s a privilege to witness that kind of energy between two musicians.
