Liam Payne, who shot to fame in the band One Direction, has died at a hotel in Argentina after falling from a third-floor balcony.
The call made to emergency services before his death has been released by police.
The desk manager at CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires is heard saying, "we need to send someone with urgency because I don't know if the guest's life is in danger - because he's in a room with a balcony and we are afraid he could do something which threatens his life."

This is pretty shocking news, me as a guy i was never a fan of 1D, but we all watched them grow as young teens in the xfactor to worldwide superstars, they were a big part of pop culture in the 2010s. Even tho i was never a fan of them, It's just shocking to hear that one the members have passed away, it feels surreal, especially so young as well

I'm a guy, and have been a big fan of theirs since their first album. My birthday is a few weeks after Niall's in September of the same year. Both Liam and Harry were practically the two lead singers back then- and Liam was my favorite member. 😢

The hotel manager did the right thing. Thinking about the state Liam was in and the fact he had a balcony is horrific. There were obviously huge signs he may do exactly what he did. I’m surprised the manager or housekeepers didn’t have a universal key to open all doors. They could have made a copy at the front desk… even so, the manager did all he could. I’m sorry for him. This must be a very hard time and he must have a very traumatized, heavy heart..

I have seen criticism of this recording being released. I don't understand that. This is not exploitative. These are just facts which aid our understanding of what happened to Liam. Now I know that when news reports say he was 'aggressive', it meant he smashed his room. He did not assault other people. I am glad this recording clarifies that.

im from argentina and I agree, our people can be seen as "intrusive or meddling in other people business" to foreigners, but I think in most countries no one would have even looked his way or shown concern for him. In my opinion the staff did the right thing by trying to help

My Mom was one of his teachers at secondary school. We are all gutted by this. Please stay away from drugs and alcohol. I've seen too many friends fall victim and it's easy to say but get help before it's too late, which in this case is unfortunately the case.

It is OK saying stay away from alcohol and drugs that is great and sensible advice but mental health is the issue here ,sometimes people are on drugs to help with mental health .Mental health the price of fame and addiction is a lethal combination sadly this all ended in complete devastation. Another young person taken way too soon in the Prime of their life ,we need more education and help and address the issues of mental health .

I'm in Argentina, and there's a huge scandal going on. The hotel is under investigation after the 911 call. The front desk manager says they only wanted ambulance services (SAME), not police, because they were worried the police would hurt Liam😐

Liam was such a handsome young man, a good singer with a beautiful speaking voice i noticed. So much ahead for him and his little boy Bear. Poor Cheryl, she really loved Liam. Drugs and drink always seem to be lurking in most famous celebs' lives...social media can be horribly petty but toxic, hurtful,relentless. I wonder what caused him to lose it ? I mean... That was what they wanted to do. They called the police and the medics for this reason. He was seen ordering whiskey and champagne in the morning, having some visitors around noon and then became erratic. He smashed a laptop in the lobby and then went back to his room. If he was being aggresive, the hotel staff is not going to try and retrain him There is a law in Argentina that allows family of people with mental health/addiction issues to temporarily place them in a hold if they are a danger to themselves or others. The call was placed minutes before he fell; emergency services were on the way, but sadly they didn't make it in time

This footage shouldn't be broadcasted to the world. Yet again, the media jumps on the bang waggon - shaming a young man as an alcoholic and not someone's son, a little boys father, an well known and loved artist who gave it his all and someone's loved one. The way the media has done this is really degrading to his true self and his family. I really feel for his family and loved ones at this time as not only they will have to cope with he grief but also the insensitive opinions of others.

I would have called for Police as he was Smashing Place up..but he insisted on Medical Team and Asumed he might put his life in danger yet this was his 3rd day in hotel..and desk Clerke/Manger saying he Couldn't get in..every hotel has a Master Key.... LIAM Payne's death is suspicious, hotel receptionist calls emergency services but demands the operator 'TWICE' to not call the police. - receptionist tells the operator that there is a balcony and he might do something to harm himself, almost as if it's planned, but still doesn't want police to gain access to the room. Makes out that they can't access his room even though it's a hotel and maids and staff have skeleton keys to clean up and have access to rooms all day long when guests check in. SUSPICIOUS

I did not find the emergency call to be stressful. It is unfortunate that this belies the fact that the deceased had consumed alcohol and narcotics. Sadly, this resulted in his death from a balcony fall.

the translation is not correct, he said "buenos días (good days)" in plural it´s something like hello but more formal and usually before 5pm. it doesnt mean morning,
