Watched this video over and over until I finally understood all the connections. Thanks for taking the time to explore each of the connection options. It was a massive help.
Watched your video in micro center only bought the 24pin version got home installed it super easy downloaded the software I’m in love I’m headed out the door to get the 8pin
Not sure if this is 365 days Pc build or you are trying to get my number. Man’s voice is more relaxed than me on my bday. Stronger than my relationship
Thank you for the video! I was looking for somehow change the ugly original cables of my Asus TUF RTX 3080Ti and I found here a good explanation. I have an Asus TUF Gaming GT501 case so I guess I'll have more than enough space to hide the cables behind (this case is huge) so I'm going now to buy those beautiful Lian cables! I was confused by the 2 connection of this new 3080 instead of 3 which I had on my ex-3090Ti Suprim X (which I returned because of extremely high temperature in my house🤣and bought this 3080 which is anyway a beast and for sure more than I need). Now after watching you everything is clearr, that option of 2 or 3 separate connectors is awesome this Lian guy makes all the things really thinking in consumers needs. Thanks again, greeting s from Spain!
@Unknown Perfect for my setup. Everything works flawless! The 3080Ti itself is also perfect for my current needs. I would have liked to keep the 3090Ti but no. Lot of heat and power consumption for just a little more fsp. For me personally it's not worth it.
Thank you for this brother 😊 Putting together a new rig and your guide was, as some of my British mates say, BRILLIANT! It’s been a few years since I built a rig.
Great video. Thanks for the amazing explanation. If we connect 24-Pin cable using the argb header, does the Lconnect Controller still needs to be connected with USB header?
Fantastic video. Watched it twice yet wanted to confirm, this cable is compatible with most 4090 GPUs right? 24 pin is usually the most common I find around. Thanks!
I just bought this Lian Li PW16-12PV2 Strimer Plus V2 - Power Extension Cable - Power 4 Pin To Power 4 Pin For my ASUS 4090 I’m hoping they will work with it
Your Lian Li Build is so Insane, that is my dream PC Build now.. I like to build by myself but I have no experience building PC, if i can im sure i can save tons of dollars. Now, I look on Building PC Company and they don’t have all the Complete Lian Li Build and also it cost so much like a double 😭.
If you have enough slack so the end that connects to the original cable is in the back of the case, you can just put it off to the side. It will look fine. Judging by what I've seen about the software you can control the different rows of lights separately, so I would assume you could turn off the lighting on the one you're not using somehow.
"theres one for a double 8 pin, and a triple 8 pin, you have a switch that switches between the two, so you can't get it wrong.. but make sure you have your switch pointing in the right direction for it to work" And my hour long investigation is completed -_- thank you for the video lol. One thing that isn't solved: I tried the other way where I could have my Asus Armory crate software control all of the RGB, and it only worked with the triple 8 pin connected directly into an ARGB header. Despite the lian LI box being connected into an ARGB header, the software could not detect it and as such, it just stayed permanent rainbow.... Wonder why? or am i just stupid again somewhere?
Hi, I'm trying to find an answer regarding the double 8 pin cable , and i have a 4060ti gigabyte oc which only has 1 8 pin connector. Is it still possible to use the one with 2 8 pin and how do you hide the other half ?
Very cool, i have the gen b4 this and may sell them and buy these instead. Do you think these are a big improvement over previous gen? They look great 👍!! I ended up selling my originals and brought the v2s, just installed them into my new pc, they are great, very easy to install!
@@TheProvokedPrawn hey Prawn, my strimer plus does not light up when i turn on my PC but the gpu lights are on and everything is as well. how can i fix this?
@@TheProvokedPrawn If I've only bought the 3x8 pin cables (no controller included), where do I plug the small black cable into to control it? and can i still control it through the L-Connect 3 software without the controller?
Thanks for the helpful video! Can you use the control box from the Uni fans? To control fans and the 24 pin and 3x8pcie strimer extensions? Or will you need 2 control boxes, a box for strimer and a box for fans?
The EPS cable is mostly on the upper left side of the mainboard, so including the free end space of the cable without lighting you won`t see any light if it would be a strimer one. Given that you use normal cable management.
I'm looking to buy a set of Lian Li infinity fans aswell as a 24 pin Lian Li strimer. These two products come with each their own controller. Can I just use one controller, say - the one from the fans to controll all of this? It'd be so much better for me if I could use one hub only.
@@TheProvokedPrawn@computergeek3407c an we split the dual 8 pin PCIe connector for 8+6pin GPU PCIe connector ? My gpu is rx 6700xt 8+6 pin PCIe connector I want to know if it is compatible
Does I have to plug the cables into this Controller or is it enough to plug the extentions into the actual cables and Controlling it then with the Software?
Does the led start to light up as soon as you "Power On" or do you need the software before? I ask because my rgb's aren't working on these not my fans, can't figure out why they are working?
would these work with an 8pin and 6pin gpu? I'm new to pc building and want to make sure I'm not wasting my money on the rgb lighting if they don't connect
Great video thanks very much, just learning that the 24 pin comes with the controller swayed me so I will get some, as cheaper options only really work if you have 2 ARGB headers on your MOBO, have you tried them with Signal RGB to see what effects can be done on there?
@@TheProvokedPrawn Apparently they can work in a limited fashion, or you need a DIY controller, back to looking at the Airgoo ones, which I'll only be able to use one of due to only one header on my MOBO, so probably 24 pin, worth you checking out as an alternative option.
Hello so I followed this tutorial , I got my 24 pin to work and everything is displaying but when I plug in the 8 pin I get no display ? Idk what the reason might be, thanks in advance
Hi i been looking for this answer but cant find it. In this build im almost done. Have a msi suprim x 3090 ti card. It uses a 3 in 1 cable adapter to go to card. I ran that into a liam li 3 plug strimmer for 30 series cards. Im using a be quit dark pro 1200 watt psu. I ran one psi cable that splits into 2 - connectors that go into liam li strimer cable from power supply. I then plugged in another pci cable that put in 3rd plug on stimer cable from power supply. Now theres the other part of that pci cable dangling thats not being used. Is that correct. ?
So i have a genuine concern. So i got the 24 pin connector and i plugged it into the main 24 pin cable just like youre supposed to, but i didnt connect the rgb cable because i dont have enough usb2.0 ports. But when i turned on my pc and went into valorant my gpu (i believe) started making a whining noise and my fans started getting really loud. So i turned off the pc and unplugged the strimmer and plugged in the main cable back into the motherboard and it still did the same thing. Currently it should be in the same condition as it was before the strimmer (atleast it should be) but im just genuinely scared and mad because idk what happened. Btw my pc never made a whining noise prior to doing this. It was comepletely silent before.
Hello. Have a 3070ti so no official strimer available. I bought the 2x8 pins one and i hope i can just use the LED part, attach it to my current CPU cables and thats it. Do you think it will be ok ?
Love your videos i subbed. Do i need a liam li module for each of the cables. One box for gpu and a bix for motherboard connector?. For the gpu im using a liam li 3 plug connector.
3:48 do you have to use the control box or can you just hook straight to the mother board and go with generic RGB lighting? Apologies, I’m a bit late to the party. But happy new year!
Hellooo bro I need some helpp I connected everything but since all my usb headers are used up by all my fans I connected the strimmer to my motherboard via the jrainbow2 on my b550 msi mag tomahawk max wifi but the strimmer wont turn on any tips my pc is working fine aswell everything turns on I also just ordered a nzxt usb 2.0 hub if that solves my issue aswell just wanted a temporary fix
Is it possible to connect the Strimer Plus V2 into the controller box that comes with the Galahad 2 Trinity SL-INF aio? Or would I need the seperate controller?
i have both the 8pin and 24pin cord and i have it all pluged in and only 1 cord lights up and i can switch between them but only one cord lights up? any help for why thats happening
Need help…connected AL fans 2 sets to ports 1 and 2 on controller. Stimers to their controller then to the Unihub controller. L Connect 3 updated the unihub controller and firmware. No temps showing in L connect 3. Fans not responding to set fan curves. So stressed. Please advise. Thanks
Hi there, i find your videos very useful and helpful , i have a question ? i have just followed almost exactly as you done, ( i got them both after seeing this video ) However , i never plugged in is never plugged in the usb header , as i only have 2 and there both in use ! One is from my AL- fans and the second one is ,well , for my usb's and power on etc from my case !! I noted the instructions saying you could use ether the cable on the GPU strimer , to connect straight to the box , or connect same cable to that strange looking extension connecter, with the 3 pin 5v MB header , again i only have two 5v headers both also being used , so i connected via the controller , leaving off both the USB and that other 4 pin connector with only one wire , as i have no idea where it goes or what its for ...?!? Long story short, i am getting zero ARGB lights :-( but i am thinking although i downloaded both L connect 2 and 3 my strimers are not showing up . My PC powers up and graphics RGB is all good ...so did your lights come on once powered up or do i need to activate them first ? Sorry its a bit long winded , only I'm gutted and hoping by explaining what i have and haven't done so far , you can literally shine some light on where i might have gone wrong 😑 many thanks 😊
I got a little work around maybe it will work for you, type into RU-vid ( B-Roll#16 - combining USB2 internal headers ). You can utilize the usb header you already have on your MB.
You can use something like this for splitting usb and plugging in more than two amzn.to/3xmPFVC The extra cable from the controller is for pwm fan control (i.e. controlling fan speed via your motherboard) so it's not essential but you at least need usb OR RGB connections for RGB control
@@TheProvokedPrawn Great cheers for getting back , i managed to get then both working , but i am not able to slow down my 3 AL 120 ‘s fans or make them less noisy , so it must be that single wire you mentioned , as it is a 4 pin header but with only one wire would i be able to plug it into one of my many 4 pin 12v header ,thanks again i have just ordered the USB Adapter9pin USB Header Male 1 to 2 Female Extension Splitter Cable 9P Connector…your a star
Love your vids!! Do you think I could use a strimer plus v2 24 pin with a strimer plus v1 triple 8 pin? Will the v2 controller work with the v1, or vice versa? Any clarification would be appreciated.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Cheers! I have a 24 pin v1 as it is. It was originally paired with a double 8 pin strimer plus v1. They were a perfect match but I found the colors to be a little faded; the blue was more of a green, the purple very pink. I upgraded graphics cards and bought a newer triple 8 pin v1. It did not match my original 24 pin, the blue is blue and the purple purple. Lol. Bought the v2 hoping it would be a closer match. Haven't received it yet, I'll soon see.
I went with the 16-12PV2 to the GPU's included cable that has 4 power connectors. I was wary about using only 3 power connections on this 4090. While the cables fit in either of the hubs ports, and the 24 pin worked in both slots, i learned that the single end spot is for the 24 in mobo connector and The side with 2 inputs and a toggle switch is for the gpu strimer. I just ran into and issue where 1/5 of my gpu strimer lights were not working,. Lian Li support told me about this. As soon as i switched them to their intended spots, all lights worked. Another video on installing these cables also did not mention plugging in the small RBG connection cable, and also said you only had to use the Micro USB cable it comes with. It wasn't an "alternative option" and proved wrong- for my set up at least. The lian li controller software did not recognize the hub and its connected strimers until i plugged in the tiny RGB header plug. The RBG connector is the only way i was able to utilize the lian li software and set up my lighting settings. with out it, you just get default rainbow settings. And with out the micro USB I got no lights at all. 4:24 I'm wondering, if you can find a strimer attachment to use with existing cables. I have a white build so they are perfect out of box for me (save the white clip swap outs) but my fiance has a black and red build with nice black and red cable mods. He just wants the light strip and not extra cables. hmm i've been searching with out results.
I got the lian li can connector box when I bought a triple pack of the fans set up, would these be able to connect into that or does it have to be a whole new box connector? Anyone know?
Hey there, I'm back again with another question 😅 I got the lian LI fans and the Strimer cables but it seems like I got not enough USB header on my mainboard? I need 1 for my Corsair AIO and 1 for the fans and 2 for the streamer cables ? Any ideas ?
