Martin would, four decades later, play the overbearing "Gertrude Moon," mother of daffy "Daphne Moon," the physical therapist & housekeeper (and eventual second wife of "Niles Crane") portrayed by Jane Leeves on the long-running sitcom "Frasier."
That is Millicent Martin, who was part of the ensemble of the satiric, weekly British sketch comedy series "That Was The Week That Was" (affectionately called "TW3") in the early 1960s, which was hosted by the late Sir David Frost, who eventually went "across the pond" to host the American version of "TW3" on NBC-TV. Martin sang the topical songs on "TW3."
Martin was an accomplished singer, who was also Tony-nominated for her Broadway roles in "Side by Side by Sondheim," and "King of Hearts," and in 1963 had a small hit recording of "In the Sumner of His Years," a tribute song she performed on the British "TW3" in memory of the recently slain American president John F. Kennedy. But the record was eclipsed on the American charts by Connie Francis, whose cover of the tune placed higher on the charts.
Hi Holbri, I don't actually have any credit list to refer to which is a shame as I can't answer your question. I was surprised to see Dusty in the number too!
