He was not as hardcore a libertarian as Austin Peterson and he seemed more articulate and well spoken than Gary Johnson. Basically the “safe centrist” of the field. Probably wouldn’t have minded him as the nominee. But, as the below comments point out, if he had won and had been inaugurated, his presidency would’ve been the fourth-shortest in U.S. history. He fled the country in December 2018 before getting arrested in October 2020 and “killed himself” in prison in June 2021.
AutismPolice Then what's the point in tell us who you're voting for if we don't pick the nominee you like? I don't like McAfee but I'm a Libertarian and I'm voting with my party.
***** LOL I appreciate the mitigating caveat. I think this discourse is more important than what talking head wins the popularity contest. If a libertarian candidate (even nominally libertarian) were to win the election--of course, I will be at least somewhat relieved. But let's be real.
Rip John McAfee. Will always remember your posts and your jokes. I will miss you and your based humour. I hope your wife is ok. God bless you buddy. The media are disgusting the way they are talking about you. He promised he would never kill himself.
So a man who has an amazing alternative idea for success with the most passionate and consistent Libertarian values isn't nominated, in favor of Johnson, a man who has been a negative poster boy for the party?
I used to be a McAfee supporter from the very beginning of his announcement. Over the course of many debates, I am moving back under Gary Johnson/ Bill Weld Ticket. McAfee/ Judd Weiss ticket is a little bit out there if you know what I mean. Also, the way McAfee responds to questions seems indirect, and inconclusive. Don't get me wrong, I like McAfee, but not as much as I like Gary Johnson. Mr. Johnson is tested, and proven as a true fiscally responsible individual during his time as governor. Also, Bill Weld sealed the deal for me, because he has a great reputation like Mr. Johnson.
He hasn't murdered anyone, you dingbat! Stop believing in the bullshit mainstream media is shoving down your gullet! Open your eyes and do your research.
4:09 ...when he mention Mahatma Gandhi... , it felt like he kick me back to 1970 meet all those hippies dancing and laughing ... truly i can smell the space changes
Why is he so jumpy, touching his face frequently, and speaking in starts and stops? What he says isn't necessarily inaccurate but his presentation is... Odd.
If John McAfee were to join the Tea Party, given that Mitt Romney made it and Ron Paul was a contender, McAfee could be the Republican candidate without selling out his values.
I am a Libertarian but the people seem to be weird, sort of nerdy weird. It’s like the political version of a comic book/cosplay convention. Probably some good dope there too!
Disulfide Bond Forgive my ignorance, but what the fuck is milk toast? I googled it, but I am still confused as to why this is a phrase. Do people still eat this? Is it a regional thing?
Jim Treacher Thanks. I also like how they give the origin story. Still it seems odd that this person chose to use a colloquialism derived from a depression era cartoon strip.
Gary Johnson and his mountain climbing narrative is stale politicking at its worst. And Bill Weld. ..SMH. I wasn't an Austen Peterson fan, being that he loves to bash Ron Paul and is a poor man's Marco Rubio, but at least he might have garnered some media interest for libertarian principles against two decidedly anti libertarian candidates. no one will even want to talk to Gary Johnson, and I predict depressingly small event turnouts and a similar vote total as 2012.
Jon is waiting for Trump to "open up that water" so he can mix in some of his Trump-aid and take a big ol' swig and fall to the floor convulsing like the rest of his pals.
+Jon Mapa Ever see something flying in the air you couldn't identify? If so than congrats, you saw a UFO. I've seen a few ufos in my lifetime, only thing I can figure is that they were experimental aircraft the government was working on, seeing as how I lived right next to an air force base.
