Hey guys, I am a lifelong Duck fan so I am not hating that they won. I do want to say that your team carried yourselves well. I loved the offensive scheme that you ran. It reminded me a bit of the way Chip ran our offense years ago. I am sure there are great days ahead for your program.
Liberty had no business being in that game. Everybody deserved better matchups for the betterment of all concerned. Whoever put that game together should be demoted. I'd bet money it's some religious zealot who did that. unfortunate pairing.
As a oregon fan, liberty deserved to be there. Oregon did have the better team, but going 13=1 for the liberty team is no easy task. I hope to see schools like liberty to keep doing things like they did next season with other schools in non power conferences.
As a duck fan, that would be great, realistically Georgia had they played Washington, or any other team, for that matter, would have run the tables in my opinion, and would have been another repeat national champion.
Liberty does have talent they might have matched up with the Chip Kelly teams better. Oregon is now one of the bigger teams when they used to be smaller than guys from Cal etc
Congrats on a nice regular season Liberty! Playing your soft schedule didn’t prepare your team to play a top five program. Whole other level. Not really fair to put those two together. It’s like a 1A hs team going undefeated but then having to play a 6A team. Completely different animals
Coach said their is no difference from the other guy across the line, nix? Coach don't lie to your players and let them Cook instead..that kid can run but against a defense like Oregon it's not close to the same as teams they played this year. Oregon played soft to see what they were going to do and after that's lanning and the coaching staff seem all they needed to see. Locked it down for the rest of the game.
True. In all honestly, the ducks could’ve put up way more after half time considering they scored 28 in the second quarter and only 14 in the second half
Liberty fan here. Liberty had a great season. They are still a building program with lots of maturation ahead. For being their 5th year in the FBS and going 13-1 with a Conference USA championship and Fiesta Bowl appearance is fantastic. Good job Liberty University Football and all their players, coaches and supporting cast! The Oregon level of play proved to be certainly higher than Liberty's overall, and that was to be expected really. Liberty had to play a perfect game with Oregon making bad errors to really have a shot at winning. However, the fact that Liberty did put the #8 in the country superstar QB Bo Nix led Oregon team that was only 6 points from going into the National Championship Semis on its heels in the first quarter is impressive nonetheless for a Go5 team. Liberty will I think benefit overall from the experience in multiple ways, and the football team will improve from it. Many of Liberty's roster is returning next season. I think they'll be a better team next year. I'm excited for the upcoming 2024 Liberty football season already. Liberty University Football is on the rise.
I remember Oregon being in a similar spot playing the Independence Bowl in 1989. First bowl in 29 years. It’s been a Journey, but Liberty is on the path!
You really think Oregon was on their heels in the first quarter?? HAHAHAHA!! That was solid psychological strategy from Dan Lanning and Company. They played soft to see what Liberty would give them. It was their game plan. Jimmy Chadwell and Liberty got sucked into it. Oregon saw all they needed to see, and locked/shut it down. The 28 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter proves it. Liberty likely didn't figure out they got sucker punched until the 3rd TD in the 2nd quarter. Welcome to Power 5 football!!
Yeah, I lived in Oregon in the 80s and 90s and well remember both Oregon and Oregon State being Pac-10 Bottom Feeders. Times change...but I remember. I had a buddy who was a starting O-Lineman for the late 80s Ducks...he was a stud but was tired of losing.@@marshalllucky7020
Liberty reminds me of Boise St. Boise St started being noticed more after they beat Oregon twice in a row. Liberty will get a big win if they keep it up but I'm glad Oregon won.
Indeed! I was a small college wrestler in Oregon. I wrestled (and got whipped) by both Ducks and Beaver wrestlers a number of times.... One thing I learned in my years as a wrestler and I think the same applies for football, to get better one must compete against those inferior to you in skill and talent, the same level, and superior. Also, Liberty U in terms of football scheduling--not by their own fault I think--is challenged by the politics of a new independent FBS team like Liberty being able to schedule consistent high end Power Five football teams. This was Liberty's first year in an FBS conference; prior to this after their recent rise from the FCS they were independent. So, even though last season Liberty beat both BYU and Arkansas, this season they played all Go5 teams and I suspect its because no P5 team would schedule them...I think the Liberty folks tried to get the better competition for the 2023 season and just couldn't. So Liberty did beat all they faced (except Oregon of course) and that is good on them. So...yeah...in my view Liberty's getting beat down by Oregon was a good thing. Liberty has a young team with many returners coming back, they have film to study and the experience of that Fiesta Bowl they won't forget... and I think they'll be better next year. I feel confident saying Liberty football will grow in stature over the next few years. Cheers! @@marshalllucky7020
Maybe...this game was still good for Liberty in the long term sense I think. Liberty is still new to the FBS...this was the first real elite team they've played (at least that I'm aware of). It was good for them.
Im very proud of Liberty and how you didn't retaliate after that duck player put the cheap shot out of bounds. You played the game with honor. Can't say the same for the Ducks. You guys were the first Conf USA team to make a major bowl game! Historic! There's nothing the Ducks lr their fans can do to take it away from you! Im proud of you guys! Keep plugging and stay true to God. You will emerge victorious in the end. God bless you all! P.S. Ignore the ignorant Ducks fans Rest assured karma will catch up to them soon.
🥲🥲🥲player celebrating in the defense face and got what he deserved….hit. Then the defender got what he deserved…a penalty. Leave it there. Liberty got outgunned on all 3 levels
