I love how this show covered controversial topics like slavery, the relationships with Native Americans, and various other things people would never dare to put on a kids show nowadays.
This made me cry because it reminds me of happier times back in elementary school where things were so much fun and my passion for learning was burning bright
See, I'm born and raised in Massachusetts and i then lived in Florida for 3 years. Whenever people tried to start something I'd tell them "Don't fuck with me, we're the ones who started the Revolutionary War."
Still remember watching this back in 5th grade, back when school was fun....now I'm in high school, graduating soon...my childhood might be gone but I still have it in my heart, back then I wish I could grow up and do cooler stuff, now that I am I wish I was still little and everything was fun. I miss those days....kids enjoy your childhood you don't know what you have till it's gone.
I'm out of high school but this song been in my head for years and I finally got a chance to look up this cartoon that most ppl forgot about. I was lucky to remember "my own eyes". Instead of the name of the cartoon and now I'm so happy to actually find it here :)
The show really was good, it portrayed the history in a very realistic way while still keeping it entertaining. Not to mention they didn't just show the good parts, but also showed the bad side the tarring and feathering, slavery, Native Americans, and even represented Loyalists.
Hearing part of Maroon 5’s song “Makes Me Wonder” brought me here. I am starting to wonder if they should have that song and “Misery” for dance anthems rather than Kate Bush and Lizzo. But, it’s up to these guys.
Ajcrpr I was in 5th grade when this show premiered, too. Not to mention, this Saturday is the first day of the summer Liberty's Kids block. I will watch the 1st 5 episodes on libertykidepisode's channel. I plan to watch all 40 episodes at least twice over the summer.
How did this show not take off? Liberty ' s kids never got its due. It was unique, awesome and a creative way to educate kids about our history. just randomly thought of this the other day. I wish this show was still around. For whatever reason it didn't last long. Too bad.
Yes but it received two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Performer in Animated Program in 2003 & 2004. At least it got the recognition it deserved
Mikelangelo True. Of course, the show could have gone into different events in history with different kids. The Civil War would be the most obvious period to cover. The kids who cover it being a poor boy from the North with aspirations of joining the Union Army when he’s old enough, the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner in the Deep South who struggles to let go of the only life she’s known as the war progresses and plunges the South into chaos, and an African American child who was born in the North to a pair of runaway slaves and must now struggle with living in a judgmental and racist society while also keeping his head down from slave catchers.
@@jacksongibbs8998 Basically, I have been in a reboot mode with this series since the fall of 2016. I reference imaginary subplots of some of the episodes in my FanFiction stories. In the spring and fall, we have weekly discussion groups at either one of our apartments on things that we need to work on as adults. In the summer, however, we go on weekly outings around the Pittsburgh area during the summer. Unfortunately, we won't do as many of these outings this summer because we are going to help volunteer for the Moser-Mifflin girls' monthly slumber party.
Lee Razor Check out the new FanFiction crossover story Summer Fun on my account! So far, Sarah, James, Henri, and I have gone to Saturday Night Trivia at Hough’s in Greenfield and Deluca’s, Eides Comic Book Store, and the Cat Cafe. This weekend, however, we plan to volunteer for Abigail Mifflin’s Paint Party since she officially graduated from high school today.
The nostalgia is real, I was homeschooled and remember sitting on the living room floor with my siblings watching this for hours… good times… good memories…
I also really find it intresting they even look at the issues that began to pop up after the war was over like when the cracks in the new government began to show like soldiers losing their farms due to debt collectors since they weren't payed for their services, and some of the early revolts
You bet it’s better than teachers lessons! My autism makes it hard to focus in school, but I *always* pay attention when watching this! It made social studies *so* much easier!
I learned most of my US History from the Revolutionary War era just by watching this show. I loved it a lot. Man, I miss being a kid. 20 and going strong in college.
Me: i watched this when i was a little kid on pbs, it was my favorite. I can buy alcohol now, boy have times changed but i still wish they picked up a new series like this, i watched this a few years ago because it actually isn't a bad kids show.
LYRICS! I see a land with liberty for all Yet still I know the truth will rise and fall (Oooh yeah-yeh) That's just the way it goes A word now to the wise The world was made to change Each day is a surprise Lookin' at life through my own eyes Searchin' for a hero to idolize Feeling the pain as innocence dies Looking at life through my own eyes I take my heart into battle Give that freedom bell a rattle Get my independence signed Declare it on the dotted line In Philadelphia freedom ring And patriotic voices sing Red White & Blue never give up We represent America I'm hoping and praying for a brighter day I listen to my heart and I obey How can I see it any other way? Looking at life (looking at life) Through my own eyes
What if they make it for the Civil War with new characters. I know it would be extremely contentious, but I think kids deserve to be educated about that critical time in the method similar to how Liberty`s Kids educated us about the Revolutionary War.
@@amandadixon905 Besides Aaron Carter's death, another sad thing is that the iCarly reboot that this show enjoyed got cancelled after 3 seasons. We need to make a petition to save the iCarly reboot! Hopefully, Nick at Nite will pick up the show rather than Paramount+.
It's like one moment, I'm getting ready to start my first day of school. The next, I've graduated high school.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................WHERE'D MY CHILDHOOD GO?!
+Cinder Ketchum Real talk. This is one of the shows that I used to watch all the time. I didn't even know I was supposed to be learning when I watched it back then lol but now I look back and it's like omg I could cry! I want my kids to watch this!
Robbie Norris same, I used to love this show when I was little, and weirdly I get goosebumps whenever I hear the intro. Usually around the part that it says "I listen to my heart and I obey" I get full body goosebumps.
I loved when I was younger. When I asked my 5th grade teacher if we could watch Liberty's Kids in class since we were learning more about journalists during The American Revolution. She said we could if I could find a copy of it. I went to the library and they said as of that year, 2006, there were no DVDs or VHS tapes of Liberty's Kids. I then remembered it came on at 9 AM on the local stations. So I put a blank tape in my VCR and set it to record. However I didn't realize it has changed to 10 and recorded Barney and Friends instead. Luckily for me I actually checked it. That would've been embarrassing.
What better year to graduate from high school and have a follow-up camp than 2024? Of course, there was last year and 2019, 5 years ago. I will be watching my RU-vid videos from that year very shortly.
@@KareemHillJr I am watching my RU-vid videos from 5 years ago right now. The classes of 2019, 2023, and 2024 have double the number of clients in a group coincidentally with the 2 eldest Mifflin girls graduating from high school, Abigail and Hannah. We talked about this 2 weekends ago at the Community Sleepover and Eat n' Park.
@@KareemHillJr This is just a nostalgia trip for me. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will premiere sometime this fall. The odd weeks of the block will be away football games and the even weeks of the block will be home football games, since Wizards of Waverly Place primarily has the even groups of the show with certain episodes solidly in their top 10.
^ because it’s so inspirational. It’s saying to look at history and well life through your own eyes, plus most of us were little kids when we watched this so it could be nostalgia
Mikelangelo They should also do one for the French Revolution since Henri and Lafayette would've been greatly affected by it. Not to mention, if began just when America's war had ended.
I had an idea where the do a sequal show covering the American War of 1812, with the liberty;s kids now adults, and their kids experiencing the war. Also had an idea where Sarah would be reporting in Louisiana during the battle of New Orleans and meet Jean Lafitte
For those of you who want the lyrics [Aaron:] I see a land with liberty for all [Kayla:] Yet still I know the truth will rise and fall [Aaron:] (Oooh yeah-yeh) That's just the way it goes [Both:] A word now to the wise The world was made to change Each day is a surprise [Both:] Lookin' at life through my own eyes Searchin' for a hero to idolize Feeling the pain as innocence dies Looking at life through my own eyes [Aaron (rap):] I take my heart into battle Give that freedom bell a rattle Get my independence signed Declare it on the dotted line In Philidelphia freedom ring And patriotic voices sing Red White & Blue never give up We represent America [Both:] I'm hoping and praying for a brighter day I listen to my heart and I obey How can I see it any other way? I'm looking at life (looking at life) Through my own eyes
Wow, this was from a long time ago when Sarah and James were still in college! Henri was still in high school. Congratulations to all 3 of them for coming such a long way!
IT'S SO CATCHY I'M HUMMING IT EVERY CHANCE I GET. Oh BTW these r the lyrics I see a land, with liberty for all Yet still I know, the truth will rise and fall (Ohh Yeah), That's just the way it goes, A word now to the wise, The world was made to change, Each day is a surprise!!!, I'm looking at life through my own eyes, I'm searchin' for a hero to idolize, Feeling the pain as innocence dies, I'm looking at life through my own eyes, I take my heart into battle, Give that freedom bell a rattle, Get my independence signed, Declare it on the dotted line, Let Philadelphia freedom ring, And patriotic voices sing, Red, White and Blue, Never give up, You represent AMERICA!!!, Hopin' and Prayin' for a brighter day, I listen to my heart and I obey, How can I see it any other way?, I'm looking at life... Through my own eyes
I take my heart into battle Give that freedom bell a rattle Get my independence signed Declare it on the bottom (dotted?) line Let Philadelphia freedom ring And patriotic voices sing Red white and blue never give up We represent America
Every morning at 6am until 7am through elementary school, I sat watching this show. It’s been almost 20 years. It still holds up today from a historical prospect.
The reboot series served as an assistant to Liberty's Kids for Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties, in which the 3rd season of the show was the best. I wish that the show didn't get cancelled after 3 seasons and leave us on a cliffhanger about Carly and Spencer's mom.
This is one of the dopest theme songs I have ever or will ever hear in my life! Not only does it sound awesome, it is also really emotional and the show itself is extremely educational and shows many different perspectives of the Revolutionary War!
Syd.adamm.edits my 8th grade history teacher wanted me to start watching this show because i was failing her class and now i'm in high school and i'm failing again
Well yeah, England and France are two countries that have the same colors as our flag and its so cool to see how we came from England and yet were so different now and yet are similar. Though if your British I must say you guys have a great country and thank you. If it weren't for you guy's then America probably wouldn't have happened and you huys still impact us even though were not a colony. Im American.
It makes me happy beyond belief to know this song is still getting attention and comments 14 years later, this show was better than Bill Nye, yeah I said it, and no I will not apologize for being right
Éponine Thenardier SAME OMG :D I love reading about American History, it's sokay fascinating! And then I became obsessed with Hamilton and that didn't help lol
CSquared 84 sometimes when I watch this show with my classmates, some of them would sing to the song, I would cringe kinda even this theme song is good 😁😬
Dancho Hristov Memories. LIAR. You watched it one grade ago. You cannot have nostalgic memories of something that happened that long ago... 4TH GRADE NOW????? You shouldn’t be on RU-vid kid. The average 4th grader is 9 at a time like this. Please leave.
Cody Martinez HELLSA YEAH XD YOUR DODGEBALL TEAM FOUGHT FOR AMERICA!!!!! Lol seriously though that's awesome XD This is a good song from this show and can be quite inspirational in my opinion XD EMBRACE YOUR CHILDHOOD AND INNER AMERICAN X,,,,D
