The making of “People”-a song about struggling through a mental low-was like a “very productive therapy session” for Afro-soul singer-songwriter Libianca. Now she hopes her 2022 breakout single can have a similar effect on others. “I hope that my supporters understand from this song that it’s okay to not be okay,” she tells Genius. “It’s okay to be sick of it. Just feel. Feel those emotions.”
The beat on “People” was cooked up by Mage the Producer, whom Libianca found through RU-vid. Since its arrival, the song has racked up over 45 million Spotify streams alone.

@@loulousworld92 the English speaking side of Cameroon also uses pidgin I believe. There’s Cameroonian pidgin, and it could have some overlap/similarities with Nigerian Pidgin.

@@loulousworld92I say this with a lot of love because I’m Nigerian, but we are the most narcissistic people 😭 West Africans sound similar because it’s the same area!! Especially Nigerians and English-speaking Cameroonians. It’s not particularly ‘Nigerian’ dialect but more to do with the pidgin.

As someone who is a social worker, and is diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and PTSD, I can tell you the difficulties of helping other people survive but inside you’re dying I learned that self-care is so important and that no matter what happens in life you gotta keep going. @@kindnessokezie9017 no pidgin is not from Nigeria. It depends which country you are from, Cameroon has its own pidgin and so does Nigeria, Jamaica and many other countries too. It’s just a broken variation of a language (that is what we refer to as pidgin, in this case English) and our pidgin is similar to Nigerians but there are lots of words we have that they don’t and lots that they have and we don’t because it’s also affected by the dialect present in each country. So yes as a Cameroonian when I listen I know which is which and same for Nigerians, when they heard « don smoke Banga » they get a hint it’s not Nigerian Pidgin because this is a Cameroonian pidgin word for weed and they have theirs.

Pidgin is a language spoken by a Nigerian tribe, the language was easily understood by everyone it was adopted by other Nigerians and simplified by putting in English words. Other west African countries adopted this too and modified it to their local language.
