@nanaabeka3105, I understand your point about the lack of a formal military in Ghana. However, dismissing all security forces as just "gyama boys" is an overgeneralization that fails to recognize their important role in maintaining law, order and stability. While Ghana does not have a large conventional standing army, it does have security services like the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service and others that perform vital functions. Properly trained and equipped personnel from these services help protect citizens, secure borders, respond to emergencies and disasters, and maintain public safety. Rather than making blanket statements, a more constructive approach would be to have nuanced discussions about strengthening professional training, resources and oversight for Ghana's security services to better fulfill their mandate of serving and protecting the populace. Dismissive attitudes belittle the difficult work these personnel do under challenging circumstances. Ghana's peace, security and development relies on responsible citizens partnering with public services, including security agencies. With more cooperation, understanding and support, these services can be further professionalized and empowered to better address Ghana's security needs in a rights-respecting manner. A balanced perspective accounting for their important responsibilities is needed.
@domingoworld Thank you for sharing your perspective with me. I understand that your country's security and law enforcement services may face certain challenges. However, it's important to look at the vital role they play in maintaining order, safety and stability with a fair view. Every society needs law enforcement and security forces to protect citizens, secure borders, respond to incidents and disasters, and uphold public order and safety. Instead of making broad statements, it may be better to focus on constructive solutions to enhance the training and equipment of these forces. This can help them better fulfill their duties. I know your wish is also for our beloved Ghana to live in security and peace. Through teamwork between citizens and law enforcement, we can achieve this goal. So we should all view the security services with a positive and supportive lens to allow them to progress. I'm confident that with mutual engagement, understanding and support, we can have a safer and better Ghana.
