Timothy Dalton made a superb Bond, it's a shame that he didn't do more. He had the perfect blend of tough guy and refined gentleman. I've got a Bond theme tune cd and this classic from Gladys Knight gets cranked up to full volume when I'm in the car.

One of the best Bond movie.

I just watched this again recently - this really was an outstanding Bond flick that (unlike nearly all other 70's, 80's and 90's Bond movies) has aged brilliantly. Dalton was the prototype for Craig's Bond, and frankly, while I actually like Craig's bond quite a bit, Dalton's was better. But in the 80's, coming on the heals of peak-campy-007, Dalton was just too jarring for audiences. That said, this movie in particular didn't pull any punches, and Dalton's vengeful, vicious Bond is a lot of fun to watch. This is helped by not one, but three particularly great and largely believable villains/henchmen: Robert Davi (who is legitimately threatening), Benicio Del Toro (ho is legitimately terrifying) and Anthony Zerbe (who is legitimately creepy).

One of a few Bond theme songs that I actually like.

I don't care what anyone say but to me Timothy is the best spy portrayal. And I only knew his movies in my 20s, I grew up with Pierce but when I was around 25 I watched all 007 movies, I watched the originals for the first time back then and the Timothy too and if you renove your nostalgia you will see that he is the best spy.

Even though I've never seen this, this is one of the best Bond songs I've ever heard. The open and end tune is similar to Goldfinger.

This is my all-time favorite Bond movie

I was in 8th grade and just getting into Bond in 1989 when this movie came out. I loved Timothy Dalton in this movie and The Living Daylights, but hated that most critics and other Bond fans that were more tied to Roger Moore and Sean Connery didn't care for Dalton. Yes, Sean Connery is the icon, but I thought Dalton was more believable in the role of a spy/killer then Moore and certainly Pierce Brosnan's campy take on the character in the 90s/early 2000s. Then when Daniel Craig came around in 2006, some people acted like the idea of a serious Bond was some brand new concept.

I saw this in the theatres when it came out. It was good, especially Carey Lowell. I love how Bond always gets all the women, even those who are his enemies, and even though he is usually at least 25 years older than they are, LOOOOOOOOOL! xD

Dalton definitely was criminally underrated as Bond, and unfortunately like Lazenby is one of the forgotten Bonds. It's a shame he didn't get to complete the 3 picture deal he signed up for as the legal entanglements kept Bond in limbo for 6 years by which time Dalton chose to walk away from the role because he didn't want to commit to a further 6 films - which Cubby Broccoli was saying he would need to do because of the 6 year absence. With this film Dalton was the first actor to provide a darker harder edge to Bond which the filmmakers didn't reuse until Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (2006).
