@@Madheim777 yes, in Kata. In Kumite, you only use those blocks only when necessary since dodging is much better. And you don't need to do it before an attack because it'll tire yourself out. Even much more unnecessary if done in a real fight.
@@natersumkatanuar7631 dodging is not always the answer, deflecting and attacking also can catch your opponent by surprise and covering distance. It depends on the situation. Also the katas just show a simulation of a combat and those moves can be applied on certain situations, of course some can be used much better than others, it doesn't mean they are unnecessary
