I have unboxed and played with the Silvercrest Carina from Lidl. Do we like it? Is it our next Best Buy? You’ll just have to watch this video to find out ☺️

Cut 4 pieces of fabric (all measure the same size)
Mine are 14” x 18” : 2 main fabric and 2 for the lining
Cut 2 ties: (these are double the width of your fabric plus 6” extra to tie a knot)
Mine are 2” x 36”

Great to see you! Im glad i suggested to my sister to get this machine. I read the spec and it looked good, i just got her to tell me the motor size. When i found one in lidl i was surprised that it had such a nice weight to it, i was expecting it to be ridiculously light. Im really pleased you confirmed what i originally thought. Hope you are all taking care x

Thanks for reviewing the machine. Love your videos they’re so informative. For the price that’s really good and like you said it’s virtually identical to the singer tradition, which I already have. I use mine for heavier fabrics and making bags as my brother FS40 doesn’t handle heavier things as good.

Great buy! I have a Singer that is almost identical to it, and it was a great value for the price. About 100.00USD, equivalent to approximately £70.00.

So glad I found your video and channel - what a great review! I also purchased this machine to try my hand at sewing. Can you tell me where I can buy the correct thread please, are they the ones in the links you listed? The three samples that come with the machine provide no details. EDIT - I had a quick look at some of your sewing for beginners videos and a 'how to thread a Carina' tutorial would also be great if you have the time. Many thanks

I regret not purchasing it when it arrived in Greece, now I have to wait for the next time. It looks like a good machine for a beginner. Alternatively I'd get a Brother or Singer for about €100 more. What do you suggest?

This is so similar to my new Singer 3342 Fashion Mate , almost the same on many points just the front end a slightly wider shape. Has it been made by Singer??

Makes you wonder - but no. What happens is that the same factory will make the machine, but the design will belong to Silvercrest x It's like a Pick'n''Mix - the brand choose the features and the factory builds the design

Hi Abi I’ve just bought this machine from Lidl, now £10 dearer, as really liked your review. However I have never used a sewing machine before, nor do I use You Tube, and cannot find the link to the children’s bag you show at the beginning. Can you point me in the right dir3ction. Also do you have any videos for sewing for beginners?

Thank you for your feedback on it as I was wondering if I had made a good purchase or not to start out with. I bought this a couple of weeks ago and have yet to try it. I am looking forward to taking up sewing and I am going to try your tutorial on the little bag to make some for my friends.

Hi Abi! I have this machine, bought it on January 2021 and only used it a few times. Now I restarted my sewing after a year of pause and the machine keeps breaking the superior line and breaking needles, with no aparent reason. I've checked everything and it seems fine. Can you give any clues? Tia

Hi Joana. It’s so tricky to know why but it sounds like the needle is hitting the needle plate or something inside. Have you got needle marks around the needle hole Or if you take the black case out, is there marks on there? The timing may be not right. If that’s the case, you will need to repair the machine. 😞 But take care. Turn it by hand. X

@@AbisDen thanks! If I work the machine with no fabric it works fine, the second I put the fabric in to sew, she blocks, breaks the line or the needle. I've changed needles, lines, fabrics, adjusted the line tension, everything. Nothing works. I think I'll buy a new one.

Hi Abi. Enjoying watching your videos and learning a lot but I need help. Please can you recommend a intermediate machine for various fabrics including denim used daily for dress making and home furnishings. My mind is in a jumble looking and reading so much info. Stay safe 🌈

Hello! Have a look at the heavy duty sewing machines video, I do like the Necchi q132a, it’s superior to my very old and much loved singer heavy duty, but the necchi seems to sew chiffon much more delicately and I feel the result is better. Hope that helps 😊 it’s so difficult to choose when we can’t go out to play and try before we buy

Some is selling this machine to me. she says she bought from Lidl n never used. Is it okay to buy it from since I couldn't get to buy it when it was on sell at Lidl.

I'm having real trouble (again) hearing your reviews properly. Sound levels vary all over the place. Good video editing software have tools to not only bump up volumes but allow you to equalise the volume level, so the volume isn't going up and down all the time. Interesting review though.

Hi Lorenzo. It’s how the company look after you when you’ve bought the machine. If you have broken parts, missing pieces, or if they contact you for support. The care they give. Hope that makes sense

I just plugged in my headphones and it was fine. I'm glad it wasn't too loud because then the echo/reverberation could override the video. Good job Abi
