Hello to all, from Ohio, USA ..... I can say, this is awful overburden to handle! I would agree that, this would probably lose much better with a larger face shovel. Perhaps one wasn't available for this particular site ... Maybe they were all previously at other sites, or perhaps down for maint/repairs. In either case, this 984 was assigned here .... I do notice that, this old girl has her battle scars .... She's broken or lost a tooth, apparently biting and chewing thru rocks! I recall back in my working days, huge draglines were used to strip away overburden .... For a season, I hauled mining equipment throughout the 48 Continental States, and the Canadian Provinces. Occasionally I'd haul bucket teeth, either from where they were cast, such as in Milwaukee, Wis, to Marion, Ohio where the Marion shovels/draglines were made. There, they would go thru the routine quality testing, then painted with heavy red primer. Then, we would load them and deliver, along with other component parts to all points. Sometimes directly to a mine site, or to a sea port for worldwide shipping via ocean-going freighters. One thing sticks in my mind, some of these bucket teeth weighed in at an astounding 700# each! The massive draglines are now mostly extinct, and the work is performed by many of these smaller machines. Times change, and machinery changes with them. The result, much faster and more efficient productivity. Build time for these machines is much less, with the monster drags taking 1-2 years to be built and shipped. It's amazing how mass production has changed about every industry in existence. And many thanks to Mega Machines Channel for bringing these awesome videos for us to all enjoy! Kudos!
How about showing some more videos maybe a few longer run videos of where this material is being dumped and pushed out with dozers? I worked on excavators all my life and enjoy watching these videos but it would be cool to see more action of the material getting dumped off and being used for filling back in old dig areas which i am guessing they must do because if it gets dug out it has to be going somewhere right?
Uh, yeah....6015b operator at this mine rules the roost. This machine Is a close second but I don’t think it’s the same operator. Other guy was on it, not loading over the cab and only pulling .25 turns. Everyone learns as you go, he may be new.Other video machine looked newer and operator was always smiling lol. Still luv this channel and mine site!
