New dragline that we received on 6/20/16. Shows digging in sand and gravel pit feeding a aggregate crushing and screening processing plants. 4 cyd bucket attached.
Great video, and very good operator, who was right on target with loading the crusher, which I am sure takes a lot of experience and practice. Wish I were a kid again, and could find me a seat a safe distance to the left of the crusher. I could watch the dragline for hours. Nice, smooth operating machine.
Love to know how they work. You would have controls for drag line and hoist but do you still need the pedals for the brake clutches or are the brakes control by hydraulics.
Operator shows little experience, kills too much time pulling in the bucket after it is loaded. You can pick it up any time after it is just past the end of the boom. Don't drop the bucket you will break the bale or the chains.
Henry Janice This is his 2nd day using this new machine. He's been running a dragline for close to 50 years. (just on all mechanical draglines though). I'll post a video of how he runs it now... buttery smooth now.. it takes a while to get used to no feedback in the brakes.. hence spreader bar hitting sometimes.
Time will tell I guess, I've seen others of the same size and brand that have 25,000+ hrs plus on them. We were told 10k-15k for hydraulic pump rebuild, 15 k motor rebuild, and 50,000 hr frame design. obviously those numbers are all subject to how the user operates the machine....
@@BrandonHagedorn that makes it very smooth. I had a Bucyrus Erie 65 D dragline, and the rotec bearings was a very weak link on the machine. I had to get Jefferson Machine in Pennsylvania to make a new race for the bearings and the whole machine had to be undecked. What a pain of a project. I finally unloaded that machine and bought a 71B Bucyrus Erie Dragline.
Just a continuation of an existing gravel deposit. We were contracted to do so.(or in better terms, we were told to) LOL 😂. This gravel has since been depleted on the property.

Is there some reason why coal mines that use a dragline to get down to the coal seam can't also classify and sell the overburden that the dragline digs up?
That's a very good question, I would assume they could but more than likely every coal mine in the area would have the same products to sell which is probably a flooded market. I know also they are required to reclaim such mined area, so maybe they need that material to do such.
Around 4 to 5 gal. an hour and a steady 1300 rpm, moving 6 - 7,000 tons a day average in a 11 work period. We have never had it go above 6 gallons an hour. Day to day maintenance is basically nothing with the auto greaser. The only thing so far that we have had troubles with is the fuel injection pump, not sure why, if its our fuel supplier or just bad design. Other than that, no break downs at all!!

Darryl Maynard this one is 4 cubic yards, we wanted to be light on the machine breaking it in , the was the operators first day running the machine. we usually use 6 cubic yard bucket now
+Shane Immelt it's my dads second day on the machine in this video... we are coming from old Northwest dry friction bands. Hard getting used to the hydraulic brakes.. I'll post video of him running today.. you'll see he is loving the machine and got the brakes dialed in!
LOL...BIG diff tween NW & Liebherr.....so...WELL understood. Try sitting in a Demag 385.....electric over hydraulic micro.....VERY diff. Enjoy the technology!! ( Made LOTS of $$ rebuilding bucket & shovels thanks to learning curves.)
That's what Liebherr is going to next I hear, electric over hydraulic! It's a very nice machine indeed! Digging 1000tph at a depth of 35'.... No way a Northwest would even come close!
+Shane Immelt yes we use it for real estate promotion videos, and also our new thing is surveying land and building topographical maps and volume calculations for roads and building sites. the Drone industry has exponentially grown over the last two years
Daniel Silva clamshell you cannot drag the material towards yourself comma also drag bucket works good for mixing the material. clamshell would be about impossible to clean up the bottom of the pit which is clay
