I imagine they can reach from the railings when stowed to clean the side window and the front can be cleaned from the top front window when it's opened. Otherwise maybe they can park the cab over a high enough stack of containers that the operator can step on to. Otherwise you could use other equipment like an elevated work platform. I imagine a dock facility would have many of these for other general purpose tasks.
I really don't mind having to gantry over one pile to move a box, but to gantry with the box suspended where it can contact others potentially knocking them over, that's just ridiculous, irresponsible and dangerous. Do you gantry over drivers inside their trucks as well?

Ya I was shocked at how dangerous that looked as well. At my dock we aren’t allowed to gantry left or right at all while carrying a container. We call a bombcart place it down and they will bring it to the next location and pick it back up from there. Also I notice these guys gantry up and down the blocks without having the trolley in the home position, wonder how thats posssible without having automated steering capabilities.
@@BMF604 Yes, I'm working here, we do. Time is money pal, they don't have time to wait for tugs. We just moving the boxes with the crane, there is an autosteering on these piece of shts. But malfunctioning and sometimes it turns itself into the stacks....
From my research, travel left or right is supposed to be done in the truck/bombcart lane when the lane is clear of all traffic. Loads suspended over personnel are a definite no no!
THE OPERATOR HAVE TO CONSTANTLY LOWER THEIR HEAD TO LOOK, IT IS DEFINITELY A WORK HAZARD, IMAGINE JUST DOING THAT FOR EVERYDAY FOR 1 WEEK...NEEDLESS TO SAY DOING IT FOR A LIFE TIME....
