Watch as Liebherr Container Cranes deploy a new patented jacking system for a ship to shore container crane lift height increase. The system uses the crane’s end carriage as a platform for jacking, eliminating the need for extra equipment. The entire operation is exceptionally quick, with the actual crane raise and the insertion of the extensions completed in a number of hours, and the whole process completed in as little as four weeks per crane.
Designed and built in Liebherr Container Cranes in Ireland, the system was deployed in 2022 at Patrick Terminals - Brisbane Autostrad @patrickterminals9883 for an STS lift height increase project on a 2015 supplied crane where the lift height was increased by 2.5 m. The specially designed jacks allow for extensions of up to 11.5 m and have been designed to be containerised for fast and affordable shipping.
Preparation takes a few weeks, and the crane can be jacked into position or pushed back from the rails for jacking if necessary. The actual crane raise and extension insertion can be done in a few hours, making it ideal for terminals subject to severe winds.
