Respect! Interesting historic movie clips. The color videos looks very discriptive! Lithuania was said to have had the best Airforce of the interwar era of the Baltic nations. I have a few questions for Lithuanian History buffs. Please read my entire comment here and please answer if you the answers. Being half an Estonian and part Lithuanian, from a mixed family all my life I've pondered why did the Lithuanian, Latvian and and Estonian Military forces just capitulate without a fight against the diobolic terroristic Soviet invaiders? Naivety, Delusion, Denial Corrouption, Treason, Fear, Unprepared,Cowardness were all mittagating factors of what what occoured in 1939/1940. I have concluded these reasons upon extensive on the ground research that I conducted. It was calculated by Military historic experts that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia could have fielded over 500.000+ Military personnel. Based upon these numbers alone They should have resisted the Soviet thugs both politicallly and militarily. There was and is no justified excuse for the shameful and disgraceful self dismanteling of our nations and capitlition in 1939/1940. In Estonia it was calculated that our 1940 Military would have been able to resist for some 2.5 months. I wonder what the calculated projection of time by historians of just how long could have the 1940 Lithuanian Military had resisted the Invaiding Soviet Army and NKVD forces? I also wonder if there was any individual resistance by Lithuanian, Military, Militia ( Home Guard), Border Guard or Police like we had with the Conscripts in the Estonian Independent Signal Batalion who resisted the illegal Soviet takeover in 1940? Estonia was imposed on with the infamous Narva Dictate on 17. June 1940 with an illegal dictating ultimatum agreement to disarm the Civilian population and the Defense League ( National Militia) of their privately owned Firearms. My question for Lithuanian historians, is was a similar Dictate imposed upon the Lithuanian government in it's last days by the Invaiding Soviet Terrorist thugs? My father was a conscript motorized dispatcher in the Estonian Airforce in Tallinn in 1940 when the illegal take over occoured, he witnessed allot. It was very disturbing to surrender without a fight! All of this made me dedicate my life want to to fight for Baltic Freedom from Soviet occuparion. During the Cold War, I joined the US Army learned Marital Arts etc. Later in I volunteered in 1994/95 to help develop the new than Fledging Estonian Defense Forces. During my Estonian Military career, at different times I also worked with Lithuanian Military personnel. One thing I learned was that, it was Highly wrong of the Leaders of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in 1939/ 1940 to just let the evil Soviets intimidate them to the point to self destroy; dismantel their own hard fought and won independence and then to allow the diobolic Soviets to take over without virtually any resistance. In 1940, the head of the Latvian Border Guard General Ludvigs Bolšteins, was correct in his projected calculation warning of what is to come from the Soviets saying that a foreign power wants us to dismantle the house we built and I will have no part in such! It was completely wrong in itself to allow the Soviet Terrorist government lto effect the actions of the governments of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Nerver Again to another humiliating capitulation. Good video showing past. Let us learn from our past history mistakes to never again allow for a humiliating capitulation!

I love your comment! I'll try to explain a bit here. So, what i think (and others too) is that Lithuania (Estonia and Latvia too) surrendered to the Soviet barbars because there was really no reason to fight. This war would bring destruction and lots of deaths to the countries. The outcome would be the same, people being exiled to Siberia, but in this alternate universe, life under soviet occupation could be way, way worse. Antanas Smetona did propose an armed resistance to the Soviet barbars, but the government refused, because of what i've mentioned. At the time, Germany was still executing operation Fall Gelb, so there was no help coming. Not that Germans would be any better, just that they wouldn't help at all. I don't know how long Lithuania could've resisted, but probably like 3 months with partisans continuing the fight. As far as i am aware of, there was not really any resistance to the barbars. The red army just walked in, placed a red star on the Lithuanian soldier's field cap and do what you want, you're part of the Soviet empire! I suppose there was a dictate to disarm the Lithuanian civilians, since why would they want the civilians rebeling? I hope this answered some of your questions, although, this may not be very accurate. And, thank you for your service!

@@TonkistLT No reason to fight?!😂 Only coward nations' governments did that just like baltic ones, even Denmark showed symbolic resistance against Germany. And yes there were resistance attempts by individual soldiers and border guards some died. And they tried to disarm civilians and riflemen union members also soldiers that not going to be incorporated into soviet army. The rifles that were hidden later on were used against soviets during the June uprising.
@TonkistLT
@TonkistLT Год назад
@@Oberschutzee I mean, the end result would've been the same: the Soviets occupy the Baltics, but with a lot of bloodshed and destruction. But I do agree, our governments were cowards, but I think they made the better choice, as I believe the Soviets would do way more deportations and killings than in our timeline.
@Oberschutzee
@Oberschutzee Год назад
@@TonkistLT At least we would have shown that soviets aren't welcomed to Baltics so if u die in the gulag anyway u better stand up and fight than cowardly surrendering to die in siberia. And What do you know maybe Baltics would end up like Finland and make an agreement with the soviets. Lithuanians alone had more rifles than Finland so if you add all Baltics together ain't a bad force. Or if Baltics hold enough long Germans could have helped us.
@TonkistLT
@TonkistLT Год назад
@@Oberschutzee But you see, Finland is a whole different place, plus it's gigantic. Finland is a cold place with thousands of lakes and dense forests with very few roads. This in turn lead to the Soviets becoming a joke. The Baltics however were mostly flat land with very little forests (atleast Lithuania at that time) and they're tiny. We could have held out for like 1-3 months, but not enough so that the Soviets piss off
