What's your biggest fear about starting or running a youtube channel?

Screen time that replaces your life. The thought of committing to a niche that is too limited, or too competetive, and not ever seeing through. But it's still very much manageable if you like making videos. Back in 2017 I spent a year or so making a single video. It hit six digits, I could have monetized that channel then and there but didn't. I guess I was souered by prior experience of turning that particular hobby into a job. I also culdn't see how I can make more than one of these videos a year without losing quality. And the quality was already barely there by conventional filmmaking standards. And of course the pressure of the second video.. that completely got me. 2 years to make and 2300 views to date. I probably should have powered through and made this into a career, but I was also quite busy with a slightly more conventional career, and life in general - so I started experimenting with that channel. What I learned is - don't over-edit. Spend the time on the 20% that drives 80% of the result. Learn to identify that 20% as a very first step. I spent two days leisurily filming some POV footage and that netted me a few hundred thousand of short views, with one particular shot hitting 110k. Most of these shots were 12 second clippings that never saw a video editor. But it's not an "overnight success", it's a result of thousands of hours of work that came before. I started this new channel (one I'm using to write this) a couple of months ago and I think it's on the right track. The thing I love most about it is the same zero to minimal editing approach. I literally spend more time picking thumbnails than editing and that says a lot since my thumbnail game is carp.

The first step is always difficult after that it is usually smooth sailing. Never give up as cliché it is to say. Good video!
