**I should add, Hannah went on to talk about how she ultimately found a church she loves, and that she realizes that the one situation was isolated, and certainly things like this happen, but not all Churches or members are the same.**
Forgive my lack of filming/editing skills, I'm a work in progress
Big thank you to Hannah for bravely sharing her truth.

I am all too familiar with this affliction. .I also suffer from trichotillomania. I finally was able to stop pulling so my story has a happy ending but i still want a wig because my hair has thin spots on top from repeated pulling from the time i was about 3 until the time I was finally able to stop.I’m 54 now.

This touched me so much because I also have trich and I have since I was a child... I remember my first trigger and it was because I was 4 years old and I asked my mom to cut my hair because it to me deemed uneven... Well she wouldn't because it wasn't uneven so I pulled my hair by the fist full and I pulled out enough hair that I had a circle bald spot the size of a saucer... And that began my hell with trich... I still pull my hair out but it's not as bad as it use to be but it's still a daily struggle. . Thank you for sharing this because I now feel like I'm not alone and I've felt alone for 28 years... Trich is also closely related to Tourette's syndrome In the way you can't control your ticks.. Again thank you for sharing this with everyone and blessed be

You are so brave. You are a powerhouse. I believe your father, as a minister would have never put any child in that position. As a counselor a Christian, and a survivor of abuse, that disgusts me that your mom's church betrayed you and your family! The church can be so messed up and twisted. It's very hard to find good people but they are out there. God never changes and neither does his love even in the darkest times. Bless you and thank you for standing up 💪

Christina Morris I struggled with this for years. Started around the age of 4 or 5. I never knew there was even a name for decades. School was horrible in some ways. Kids don't understand why you don't have eyelashes and u dont have an answer. And mine was due to childhood trauma, so add that to the mess. I'm never had the courage to admit it to more than MAYBE 2 people up till now, never would have told a stranger. So glad I found this and your comment ❤

The Isola's my friend has it also. She had endured a lot of abuse as a child. She got hooked on drugs and alcohol as an adult, then started pulling her hair out. I’ve only been friends with her for about 5 years, but it was just recently that I found out about her pulling her hair out. She’s come along way. She doesn’t wear wigs. I pull out my eyebrows, so there's no such thing as hiding it and pretending it's not happening. The way I see it, it's a medical thing. People with other diseases or disorders that cause hair loss are not shameful; and there's not any more blame or guilt we deserve because this is our cause.

My twin sister has Trichotillomania. It started when we were three. I have skin excoriation to the point of scaring :( I started pulling the skin on my lips or biting the inside of my cheek or pulling at my hangnails. No medication has helped. Thats what is called, skin ecoriation? I do the same things. I never knew what it was called and all a dr would say is to just stop doing it. I have literally bit through my cheek and pulled the skin on my lips until they bleed. The skin around my fingernails is always mangled from me picking at it and I have scars on my fingers, lips, and the inside of my cheeks. Usually I have no idea I'm doing it until someone points it out to me & by then its too late. Damage is done. Thank you so much for sharing this. It has made a world of difference to know it has an actual name and that I'm not the only one. Thank you again 💜

Skin picking is also called dermatillomania. I do this as well. Nails, cheeks, lips, skin, scabs, pimples, dig hair out from under my skin just so I can pluck it... I always remember picking when I was young, then it stopped for awhile. I have struggled with it for over 10 years...started again when I was 25. I have it under control now since getting pregnant...but never know if I will relapse and start picking again... I believe it is considered a form of mental illness. It really sucks...

I have Trich as well. I was so stoked to see this video title! I am almost 31 years old. Trich reared it's ugly head when I was about 15, after I was sexually assaulted when I was 14 (which turned into a trial with a guilty verdict, followed by relentless bullying for 4 years as a result). None of my doctors had a clue either. I happened to find this short, little side page article in a magazine about "excessive/compulsive eyebrow plucking" (which happened to be one of the conscious symptoms I experienced) in art class. They used the name Trichotillomania. When I read the description, it felt like finding the piece of the puzzle that had falled under the couch deep inside a dust bunny, and then it clicking into it's place with the other pieces. I swear, it was like an angelic chorus sang, wind blew, and a beam of light shined down. Kinda like when Harry Potter holds his wand for the first time. I showed my doctor the article and she did more research. Today, most psychiatric professionals I've encountered know what it is, so that's extremely encouraging. I'm still struggling to this day, but I've never stopped improving. I have setbacks. Sometimes huge setbacks. I've lost track of how many times I've gotten my hair to grow back to medium/long length, only to have to start all over. It also takes longer and longer to grow back, because it's SO hard on hair follicles... But as of right now, I have about 14-16 inches of growth, a goofy lookin mullet (my hair curls when it's shorter 😅 so it looks like a curly-topped Joe Dirt right now), and finally enough money in my pocket to get it evened up this weekend! 😀 Thank you Tiffany for having her on your show, and thank you Hannah for sharing your story (AND opening a salon specifically for people suffering from hair loss!).❤❤

I appreciate this video so so much. I have suffered from trichotillomania since I was very young, mostly on my face and body which then creates sores. I also have dermatillomania which means I pick at my skin and the sores just get worse and worse. Sometimes I will pick at the same spot multiple times a day so it never has time to heal. It makes me so self conscious. Having sores all over. But I can't stop. Anyway thank you for making this and spreading awareness. Love your channel so much. Edited to add that I cried most of this video. It was very beautifully done. And her story is so relatable

I have some condition that I'm not sure about. I pick at my scalp constantly. I make sores on my head and it bleeds. Some of the sores are an inch long. It's awful and I cant stop... I'm not sure what to do.

Thank you for sharing this amazing journey. I've met a few people who have this condition, when I was working as a hairstylist fulltime. There really needs to be more awareness for this.

I agree completely!! That’s why I did this video, in hopes that it will spread more awareness and encourage other girls that have trich that they don’t need to hide!

Doctors suck..most..there are some good ones...I am so sorry..god bless JENN..One act of kindness can do a lot. I was homeless and I was panhandling. A lady pulled up and had to be $20. She had the cutest haircut I've ever seen. My ex-husband was a hairdresser and did hair shows with Paul Mitchell. So I've seen cute haircuts. I told her your haircut is so cute where do you get it done. All sudden she starts crying hysterically. And she pulls away. Then she pulls to the side of the road. I didn't know what to think. So I go over and ask her if she's okay. She still crying. She said I got my hair done chemo. She said she beat the cancer in her hair just started growing back. Should all her friends tell her that her hair is cute, but she didn't believe it because they're her friends. Since you don't know me I know it's true. I thought my friends were just trying to be nice........ I'm serious, this was the cutest haircut I've ever seen. It was short. Reminded me are the 1920s flapper girls......

I have watched the first 5 minutes of this and I’m apprehensive about watching the rest. Not “triggery”. More like her story might spark a break through for me. Now to finish the vid.
