Served 7 years at bliss, from Driver to Tank Commander! This covered everything, maybe just add some gunnery clips but yeah good capture of the life! I’m gonna miss it
Reclassing to 25 series from being a tanker was comparable to transitioning from the army to the civilian sector. The level of camaraderie as a crew is impossible to find anywhere else. That’s what I miss the most.
Is there any common health issue from being a tanker/ is there any big downside? I'm contemplating becoming one but I'd rather not if a common issue is cancer or lung issues etc...
Every part of a tank is heavy so a fucked up back comes with the profession, concussions and hearing loss are almost guaranteed, also near constant exposure to stuff that causes cancer (I served with a dude that found out he had cancer while he was still in)
Also knew some old timers (career tankers with combat service) that had 3-4 times the radiation exposure limit (its a lifetime limit) and were unable to have children or had children with deformities.
@@depoyat127 I know this is old, but if you see this can you please elaborate on why not to pick a combat MOS? I've heard it's like being a glorified janitor sometimes, poor living standards and poor leadership are the main issues if I had to guess. It is worth saying that the Army is offering $50,000 to those that enlist as 11x or 19k.
