Haha when you said per month I was trying to do the math 😂 great vid and it's obviously what you love doing! You should be proud it's not something anyone can do I'm sure.
I think we all knew that. I've always wanted to fly helicopters. I fly the remote controlled one's. No, not the cheap things. Mine are around $2000.00 for the basic. No electronics. Started back in 86. Sorry off topic. I'm 60, retired, and don't want a commercial license. I already had my dream job. I don't have much of a budget for flight school ect. Any recommendations? Or should I just forget it?
Matthew Eagle that's what I thought too. It's about what what he makes a month at what he said he makes a year. From the extremes of the two figures. Give or take.
It was very difficult when I started out flying, but eventually you practice enough to know exactly what they are going to say before they even say it, so you can somewhat predict the instructions. Sometimes they will give you something really odd but usually its the same 3-4 instructions every time.
Appreciate the motivation, I am a business owner and make much more with business but my love for flying has not ended. Getting ready for XC solo, thanks again from Denver !!
How good. I was just watching another video of a woman in Oregon drying cherry trees and I thought, “I wonder what it takes to get your helicopter pilots license?” Then this video was suggested... I really appreciate the video. May God bless you and your family.
Great video. Thanks. I'm nearly 28yrs old, but it's my dream to fly. I'm very good at figuring out mechanically operated things, but my obstacle is the finacial aspect.
get a job and just fly one hour a week. It will cost you like 400-500 AUD per hour. Just build hours, if you fly one hour a week you can get your CPL in two years time and still be able to wrok a full time job and be able to support yourself. If your capable of taking a loan, you can borrow 70,000 and do all your hours in 4 weeks and you would be licensed CPL and can get a full time job to pay off your loan while you search for low hour flying jobs. Financial obstacles are misleading because people think you need the 70000 upfront. Just pay as you go.
This is my first time watching you and I'm VERY impressed! Have always loved helicopters since I was like 10 years old, I had 3 careers I wanted to do! 1 was a cop 2 was a helicopter pilot n 3 was to drive a big truck! Lmao, lets just say I still haven't flown anything hahaha! Keep'm high n dry bro n cheers from Canada eh! Going to binge watch for a bit, talk to you soon!
You wanna impress a lady? Land in her backyard in a helicopter to pick her up for a date. You'll have the stuffed animals kicked off the bed by midnight 👍
Lovely Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one off guide for how to get pilot license without the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got cool results with it.
I know nothing about helicopters but I can't stop watching yo ur videos SUCH a fun career! Congratulations on finding something that truly makes you happy!
Very cool gig... I am fascinated by helicopters and I did catch your comment why you never considered being an instructor.... that had always kept tucked in the back of my mind that when a helicopter fails or pilot errors the outcomes are not too promising. Good on you though for doing what you love.
So it seems obvious that in your first few years you'll need to work a second job to make ends meet. Considering the "on-call" nature of piloting in those years, how did you make a second job work? Or what did you do as a second job and are there lessons learned from that balancing act that you could share?
One of the biggest drawbacks for VFR flying is weather. Visibility minimums, ceilings, etc. The eastern states and coastal areas are the trickiest. Great to fly though. Thanks for your vid.
I just started following your channel and am a fan after watching one video.o got a job this year in the aviation field just last year,I'm a aircraft de-icer at the airport in my city and love it.i want to get my helicopter license just as a hobby and feel I'm to old,I'm 43 years old as of this past summer.
Biliana Biliana it depends on how long it takes. The only costs are rentals and tows, so it will depend on how much you fly. It could be anywhere from $1500 to $5000 depending on how much you fly, and if you crash.
Dude! You flew right over my house leaving PDK, I'm right off Buford Hwy inside the perimeter,,, I give ya a ride in a blown 427 Camaro for chopper ride ;-)
Sounds pretty awesome, mechanics don't make that much money either until you finish your apprenticeship which takes 4-6 years for most people. Then you get your ticket and a $5/hr raise and as a bonus you get to keep fixing other people's rusty junk haha. This was a dream job as a kid but never followed through. Maybe i'll go back and do the private thing one day. Looks awesome, have fun man.
Hate when that happens. I normally just EMP them to make sure their phone dies. Never see them texting and flying again. Never see them again tbh maybe they got their license revoked? Lmao
How does that Cyclic flight control feel compared to the common "joystick" (found on Civ and Mil Helos)? I rode on a Robinson R-44 out of Manteo (MQI) NC / OBX on of their beach tours in the area a couple of years ago. I enjoyed it :)
Whoa, dude I live in Gainesville and just randomly came across this video.. I've seen yall flying before if that's the neighborhood I think it is lol Small world!!!
In all fairness, 40 hours may be the legal minimum requirement but the national average is closer to 60-70 (at least for fixed wing). An instructor won’t sign you off for the checkride unless there’s no doubt you are a safe and competent pilot.
Thanks for doing this video, pretty cool. I love helicopters.. I have 4 drones, maybe someday a real helicopter. I live in Decatur, GA, close to PKR, sounds like right near you.. Looking forward to more videos.. Subscribing to your channel.
If flying a fighter jet is like driving a formula one car, flying a Robinson Helicopter is like driving a Buick station wagon. You still look really cool doing it though I promise! Maybe if you wore a fighter pilot helmet and renamed yourself 'Mav'.
im studying to become a helicopter maintanance technician, starting intership in a week. when i get my AML, my intership company(Heli Holland, maintance and flightshool) has offered me to become a helicopter pilot. I cant wait!
when I let the army with 1600 hours I contacted a local helicopter flight service near Detroit. The owner offered me the opportunity to check his operation. We flew together for about 2 weeks doing VIP, news and police support. He liked the way I flew and he made me another offer. A position which was on-call, but he made the caveat that I would start at 17K per year. I already had a job offer making 17/hr at a local factory making auto parts. Needless to say I went with the factory job.
Terrible play. Former military pilots can ALWAYS get great jobs, especially with that many hours. You just didn't look around. Or you procrastinated. Should have looked around before you hit tamps. I think you flubbed your piloting career doing that.
@@TOMVUTHEPIMP that Is why they usually require 5000 to 6000 hours. I was lined up to fly med for Cleveland. My unit was called up again for deployment. When I told them they said my job would be waiting when I returned back to the states. That deployment I was wounded, 17 operations later. Needless to say that job did not happen.
This was an awesome ride besides what happened to Kobe an his daughter and the seven other passengers rest in peace I hope you're careful up there you look like you know how to fly so that's a good thing
what does Kobe have to do with anything here? Crappy pilots make crappy mistakes all the time. How do you correlate this tiny 2-3 passenger bird with Kobes massive charter heli? Weird.
