*** Pregnancy brain! I did math wrong at 14:45, I will actually have 60 days undersaddle not 30. Whew! *** Edit #2 I meant Fort Worth EMM, not Oklahoma 😂

Whew, that sounds better! I had 2nd degree tearing with my first baby and was still sitting pretty tenderly at my 6 week follow up appointment, no way I could have ridden anything! I hope your recovery is smoother than mine, but be sure you give your body the time it needs to heal.

You may not believe it, but the day before I gave birth (at home) I rode and trained 6 horses. After the birth I was back in the saddle 10 days later. My son is now 32 and turned out quite well😉. Sending you much love and light, blessed be. Wishing you all the best with your baby💗💗💗

I move that you made this video Camille! I've had 5 kiddos and with each pregnancy it was a little different on how long I kept riding. Some were up till a couple weeks of birth and others I quit when I halfway through pregnancy. Listening to our bodies is SO important. 👏🏼

In 1979 I rode and trained horses throughout my pregnancy with my doctor saying if it's what your body is used to, continue. Thanks for sharing. God bless from Louisiana

Camille, your body will tell you when to stop riding. I rode until two weeks prior for both my sons. However, the mare I rode was one that I trusted and depended on for a safe journey. Keeping the riding up actually helped me during the delivery time. Best of luck to you! You are entering the most precious time of your life, being a mother.

I’m new to this channel so this comment is pretty late after the fact. But I wanted to add my experience. I was 31/32 yrs old for my first (only) pregnancy, and I was a groom and pony girl on a race track at the time. I continued riding the pony horse with the permission of my doctor. I did limit my lifting of hay bales, but I continued grooming, cleaning stalls, tacking, walking out race horses. I rode the pony horse on a regular basis because I knew him well, and he was rock solid and trustworthy. All was well and my daughter was born one day after an actual race day. She is 35 yrs old now with a daughter of her own. My granddaughter is 8 and has been in riding lessons for 4 years now.

Love this. I noticed the lack of real information & people sharing their experiences when I was pregnant with my first. For any future mamas reading - I think the most important thing to remember is that as you get bigger (especially at the end) you will likely have slower reaction times. I did have an incident when I was 34 weeks pregnant where a horse that I knew very well hit my stomach with her head when she spooked. Luckily baby was okay but it was definitely an error on my part. I should have been more aware of my environment and body position. But you can 100% continue doing what you love even when you are pregnant. Just follow your intuition ❤️

Momma, you've got this. Gotta love horse women...they never see an obstacle when they want to do something. Good for you for showing how it's done. You know what you can do, and exercise is good for your body during pregnancy. Heck, I didn't have my first son until I was 35, second son at 38, then God decided I needed a little girl at 42...and people couldn't keep up with me. YOU can do this! You know your body better than anyone else. Congratulations on your new little boy, and congratulations for taking on a new Mustang. Be safe.😊 I'm in NE Texas, so I can attest...this spring has been brutal!

I'm not planning on having kids for a good 5+ years, but I still found this video very informational. I think it's so awesome that you're being open about your experiences with your pregnancy, I'm sure many people will be helped by it! If this video is still up many years down the road, I will definitely be coming back to it. Well done!

Honey your amazing! Don’t listen to others, listen to your intuition. Remember for hundreds of years, the Wild West and Native Americans did this for hundreds of years. Only tough women can handle it! Great job Camille!!

Every person is different---but I will say this, as a mother of 3 who are all grown up and living their own lives now---so I've been through the gamut of work years and parenthood years: There isn't enough Respect given to women having children, period. Being a MOTHER in this society, as you will find, puts a permanent target on your back. You're shamed if you stop outside work to personally attend and raise this new tiny, helpless, defenseless human being---and you're shamed if you do not stop work too. Be true to your heart. Having said that, your baby and your pregnancy ought to be your PRIORITY from this point out. I say this as a woman who ADORES (effing adores) animals. I love them to this day---all of our companion animals...but if you think Motherhood isn't going to "change" you, challenge you, bring you to your knees with exhaustion---you've been totally misinformed. Here's a labor fun fact----the more rested you are, physically, mentally, and emotionally, the higher your pain threshold will be, and the greater your chances for a healthy and problem-free birthing experience. You need to PREPARE for it. I send you all the Blessings in the World. This baby that's coming---he or she goes through BIRTH, with you, ONE TIME in their life. ONCE. It's a rare and amazing milestone, and truly a miracle.

My first pregnancy was at age 25, and I kept riding until the third trimester when the hormones loosened my ligaments so much that I used my leg and instead of pressure on the horse the hip popped out and back in, painful, shocking, and prudence dictated I lay off riding the rest of my pregnancy. Everyone is different. My hat is off to you. May your birth experience be a nice, boring, uneventful, textbook birth. Enjoy being mom. It has been an amazing ride. 🥳 my riding during pregnancy baby is 33 yrs old now. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

You have been very lucky and I’m thankful that you have had such a supportive dr. I just had my little girl April 29 and I had full intentions of riding throughout my pregnancy. Unfortunately in my first trimester I had a small uterine tear which they blamed on the pelvic movement from riding. I felt silly when I asked if I could ride my 17 and 18 year old only at a walk because they shut me down completely on riding. I also had to have an unplanned c section so I’m waiting on June 8 to be cleared to finally ride again. It’s gonna be the best feeling ever to be back in the saddle. I’m cheering for you keep up the wonderful work!

Bravo to you for tackling a topic that has the potential to create a lot of backlash! We need more brave women and less judgmental ones. Well said! I rode and trained up until a few days before birth through 2 pregnancies in 1986 and 1989 with no issues, all with the blessing of my OB. I knew the potential risks, but I had to earn a living. Back then if anybody had a problem with it they kept it to themselves. I don't get why some people these days think they have a right to publicly shame others. If it's not for you that's fine, just move in with your own life. We, as horsewomen, should stand up and applaud our sisters, instead of vilifying them when they continue to ride with common sense and doctor approval.

Yesssss I love this! I wasn’t consistent with riding my mare, so I decided to stop riding when I was around 4 months pregnant just to be safe, but I always felt this bit of guilt for even WANTING to ride, mostly because of the judgement from others. I will say though, I was very grateful to be able to induce labor with riding since NOTHING else was working 😂

@@CamillesMustangs I really only think it’s because I wasn’t riding for a couple months, then I was like “Nope I’m ready for nugget to be here now and I really don’t want to be induced at the hospital” so my husband watched me ride just in case, then sure enough he was here less than 48 hours later 😂

You know, it was not my choice to continue to ride for fun during my pregnancy, however, I took what many would call a huge risk by having 4 out of hospital births, two of which were at home. We each have to make our own decisions about what we want to do and what we feel is safe. I’m glad you have been able to work and continue you passion. (I loved coming to your groundwork clinic two years ago and I was so bummed that I still didn’t have a horse to bring this year. Maybe next time 😄.)

The first trainer I rode with rode and trained ottbs pregnant (in the 70s, she had no issues) . I had morning sickness so bad through the entirety of my pregnancy, I ended up not being able to ride as much as I wanted. The good news was that L&D went super smooth for me. I found out at my 39 week appt I was already dilated to 5 without a contraction. I had about 3 hours of pain dilating from 7-10 later that night. Pushed for a half hour-ish. No meds. Midwife told me I must have been very fit to gotten through pushing so quickly. You'll do great!

I galloped TB at the track until the 7 month mark back in the late 80s. Then I switched to riding the lead ponies for work. I also legged up fox hunters during this time. I will add that once I hit the 5/6 month I did stick to the easier, known horses. I also had 8 horses of my own at home that I took care of and rode. I rode until 6/15 and gave birth 6/17. Easy pregnancy, easy birth and back on a horse 2 weeks later with no issues. My OB was amazed at the good shape I stayed in and I absolutely attribute it to keeping up with my normal activity level.

Fantastic video! I've never been pregnant myself, but I've done research on what I should/should not do when it comes to horses; just in case. Like you said, it's like crickets out there on the internet! Just one thing I want to touch on though. Please be careful of being pulled off your feet and landing on your tummy. The clip you showed of Carousel whipping around was pretty intense, and I know you let go of the rope, but it almost looked like the rope could actually swing hard enough and wrap around your arm. The force in which you land could be very dangerous. Just a thought to keep in mind... Also, everyone has a different recovery time after birth; please don't be hard on yourself if it takes longer to recover than two weeks. Your body will be going through a lot of changes the first month or two, so give yourself grace. Finally, congratulations on the little boy and have fun getting all the newborn snuggles!!!

Love this! and Congratulations! It was really hard to find this same type of information when I was pregnant with my last - my doctor gave me much of the same advice, don't do anything new, but you have the muscle memory to carry on with schooling and such, just don't do anything that hurts. I rode 5 days a week until around 5 months, when I ended up bedridden due to unrelated complications (preeclampsia). It definitely is a lot on personal preference, and how balanced and comfortable you feel in the saddle! Love that you're sharing this Camille! :D I've got some looks purchasing two unstated green mares (not mustangs though... lol!) around 6 months pregnant this spring.. but it just really depends on somebody's preference and experience! Also you're due a week after I am with a little girl :D

It sounds like you have consulted your doctor & thought through the safety aspect of your career & you accepted help of a relative for riding purposes. Very mature & intelligent way to handle your current state, but there are things you might not have considered that might not cause noticeable problems until you are 10+ years older. As an older woman, I offer a perspective you may not be aware of. Heavy lifting either pregnant or not, just not a good idea. My ob/gyn said a woman's internal design is not as suitable for lifting heavy objects as a male's body is. In a feminist culture, I know that sounds inflammatory to some women, but I say it with concern for other women's health. It may not cause problems now, BUT LATER on in life, when you are older, it may lead to problems. I didn't listen to my doctor & ended up with a fallen bladder which caused incontinence in my mid 30's. It also made intimacy less enjoyable because I would sometimes experience leakage & I felt pressure like my bladder was being pushed. This is very personal & I only share it here to save any younger women the pain & embarrassment that I suffered. I also didn't wear the support hose for my legs when pregnant & while it didn't seem like a problem then, again a few years later, I had unsightly spider veins & even later, painful & embarrassing varicose veins that make wearing shorts & swimsuits less desirable. You seem like a sweet & healthy young woman, I hope this older woman's insight comes across as earnest concern for your future health. I wish an older woman would have been willing to share these things with my younger self. Fortunately my husband has been really patient & understanding about the bladder thing, but it did change our intimacy somewhat. Again, these are incredibly personal things to share & I would appreciate no one's criticism. I just truly care about other women & want to save others my struggles. I am sure you will weigh the risks & choose what's best for you, as you have done already with the information you were given. I just wanted to give you some other information to consider. Take care & may God bless you & your baby.
