Wowwww LOVED this whole entire interview with her she is an absolute gem✨ Her last piece of advice was definitely what I needed to hear right now "you're smarter than you think"

I really enjoyed hearing the concluding remarks about being humble, reflecting on hard times and showing compassion through that mindset. That perspective is applicable everyday.

Family Medicine is a very interesting career. In my Midwest residency, we train to be primary surgeon on c-sections, do large volumes of complicated pregnancy management, large numbers of vaginal deliveries, scopes and procedures, and complicated ICU care. To address some comments, The flexibility and variety in that skill set is something NPs cannot replace or replicate. It also is the only speciality that can meet the needs of small rural communities without the resources to have a full speciality team. That’s why many of our FM grads work internationally and in rural USA

I'm an MS2 currently, but I have a close relationship that is a rural FM doc. He is in the pacific northwest part of US. He will be clearing 300k this year, sees about 30 patients a day on his work days

You are very rude! She doesn’t have the personality of a cardboard box- dry and literal, which you seem to have. I’m sure her patients will appreciate her, especially when they are sick and need cheering-up.

I’ve never considered family medicine as a specialty but I love her insight and perspective! 💜🙏🏽
@gettygets872
@gettygets872 2 года назад
Really ? How, why ? It’s the only speciality that you see patients from the “cradle to grave”. You see the whole family. The breath of knowledge is vast.
@kaitlynkilpatrick36
@kaitlynkilpatrick36 2 года назад
@@gettygets872 for some that's exactly why. You have to remember sooo much about every body system and it can be seen as not worth it to some when you also have to navigate the business of medicine, take into consideration socioeconomic status of patients, and plant roots in your community

I thought about Family Medicine. But the issue I am seeing is that a-lot of Nurse Practitioners are taking the field over and hospitals are not hiring as much family medicine doctors since it is cheaper to just have more NP's. If you have your own clinic FM can be very rewarding, but working in a large hospital system has its drawbacks

I hope that Dr Zeel's message to physicians about not forgetting what it was like when they were students and the insecurity/imposter syndrome that comes with it is heard by the doctors who view this video. I've come across doctors who seem to have forgotten what it was like to be a student and it's something that I, as a medical graduate, don't want to forget simply because I "made it" and am "on the other side". Just because "that's how things were done" before doesn't mean that's how they should be done in the future. Disrupt the system.

Wow! Dr. Shah is so wise, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Her patients are blessed to have her. Her joyful laughter is awesome. It was great to hear her advice to not come in with superiority judgment, but to help them embrace their strength. I also like how she uses pictures to explain complex ideas to her patients. She gave an excellent analogy about vaccines (in general) as showing your immunity army what the enemy is like. The only thing I would disagree with her is that most of the covid vaccines are called vaccines for liability purposes to avoid lawsuits; but they are really experimental gene therapy, not normal vaccines with dead or attentuated diseases. Thank you for a fantastic interview! God bless you.

It’s a dying field . Brutal truth no one is taking about. With below avg skill set and job satisfaction. U will struggle your whole life in this field from financially, academically, zero respect. Not saying from me own data , talked a lot of doc more than 100.

@@user-by5ug4qq6v so it's about salary , sorry to say that but we need money to survive , cost are reducing per hospital visit. So u will make less per hospital. Then u will have to work your ass off to make same money. Either u have to move to rural place with no opportunity to develop or u can stay in city with a lot of struggle of everyday life. Second people they directly go to specialist bcoz of there insurance coverage. Third skill set will hold u back like drastically as u don't have much to do in this field. Sooner or later u will realise u are falling behind.bcoz lack of skill set u will feel ur only treating flu or little bit pain. Believe me this job stated to get dull and burden .
